  • Anthropodermic Bibliopegy is the practice of binding books in human skin. I build a book from scratch and bind it in leather that looks like human skin. So many new things for me to try with this project: Is coffee or tea better for aging paper? I sew together the text block and assemble a book from scratch. I made alcohol inks to paint a tattoo on the skin, then add some décor to the cover without leatherworking tools.

I've tried the paper thing too. The trick is not too soak them so long, like a min at most otherwise it absorbe too much water. I used four to six tea bags and cook it over a low heat to extract more tannins. But wow you definitely made a awesome book 😊

That is awesome. I have recently gotten into junk journaling making my own books. I need to try this style of book binding

junk journaler here and a new subbie ...your channel is fantastic! for dying the paper, I mix both tea and coffee ...leave the tea bags in, add a spoon of instant coffee ...if you baking soda, it neautralizes the acid, preventing deteriation of the paper. Love your book binding technique! I will have to try it!

Thank You! I've never done it on purpose, so from my own doppy experience, I was going to suggest just blotting the pages with a stronger brew. As apposed to soaking them, slightly less crinkling & more variety of color saturation. So your suggestion of instant coffee would work best for the stronger brew!
