Although many people say you should keep a baby sleeping on the back I completely disagree. My teacher told me that the doctors said to keep her baby sleeping on his back and when she did everything was fine until he vomited and almost choked to death because the vomit kept going back into his mouth and up his nose, he almost died. Even though sleeping on the back keeps the airways open for breathing the same happens when sleeping on the side, just make sure the baby isn't on their stomach and supervise their sleeping constantly. Overall, sleeping on the back isn't always the right choice.
Thank you for sharing these safe sleeping tips! As a fellow parent of my 8 month old baby boy, I want my baby to sleep comfortably and SAFELY as much as possible!
Whoever made the back position the safest should check again. Do they ever consider babies choking on the milk or vomit lying on their backs? I believe that is the most dangerous and I wouldn’t participate in doing that. My new born slept on his side for 2 month,on his third month I discovered he slept more hours 4-5hours on his tummy. I make sure there are nothing on his bed. All sheet tucked securely inside.
You are so right!! My son was choking in his vomit when he was 5 weeks old. Thank god my mother instinct was telling me something was wrong en checked on him and saved him. We bought a special pillow so he could sleep on his side with a role behind and in front off him so he could not roll over. Sorry if my English is bad its not my language.
Truth… my baby chokes milk coming out from his mouth and nostrils each time I put him on his back and it’s a very scary 😢… I prefer putting him on his sides but he is 2months now so I will try his tommy
My baby is just one month old I let him sleep on his side reason being most times milk is coming from his nose and its easier to come out while sleeping on his back it seems like the milk is drowning him
I've had that happen to my baby girl as well. She slept on her back and it suddenly sounded like she was choking on milk and couldnt get proper air flow. I quickly picked her up and she caught her breath. I've never had this happen on her sides or tummy. I understand people are scared for SIDS and yes sids is a horrible thing. But what works for one baby doesnt work for ALL
No you would be better to use a medication called Karvool you can get it from the chemist it’s little pods of stuff that you put on to baby’s chest and sheet which clears the nose x
This is a really important video! It's crucial for parents to be aware of safe sleeping positions for their babies, as it can help to prevent incidents of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). It's great to see that the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends placing babies on their backs to sleep, as this has been shown to be the safest position. It's also important to make sure that the baby's sleep environment is free of any potential hazards, such as loose bedding or stuffed animals. Thank you for sharing this important information!
Ok but through research I read that if baby is old enough to roll in both directions it is safe to side sleep and or sleep on tummy. My baby is 7 months old and is learning to sleep in multiple positions no problem I have no clue how all I know is when I place her on her back she doesn't even last 10 minutes of course when she was younger this wasn't the case until recently
After starting solid...my baby starting sleeping on side or on tummy..i think their stomach become heavy due to solid... This is main reason in india, baby main food is milk not solid but now days doctor doing new experiment by forcing parent to not give milk but give them solid
I prefer the left side for my 1 month old same position my mom usedfor us all because you can spot up milk and choke while on your back I bought thoseaide cushions I got at the baby shop so it goes on the back and atomic of the baby to keep them on the side
I have an 10weeks old. Im still putting him on his back but it’s doesn’t seem to help. He has reflux. It’s times when I rest him on back, he starts choking. Thank god I have been awake so I can put in the recovery position. But I wish there was more videos or education videos for reflux babies laying on their backs to sleep. any recommendations for information for reflux for babies sleeping on their backs?
Reflux can be decreased by extended back pats for burping. Some first time mommy's don't realize how much burps can come up for those first few moths. Second my first was a big boy with a big heavy head. I noticed sleeping on his back was causing a flat spot on his head so I started side sleeping him, alternating every night, right side, left side ect. I'd put a barrier in front of him and behind him to keep him from rolling over. If the barrier is heavy enough they shouldn't flip on their belly. I woke up a few times to him wiggling onto his back but thankfully it worked out for us.
@@shamisocchiwara honesty, No. He’s 18 weeks now. For me, what I did was rotate him on his side right to left then on his back. Which has help. I put him to sleep on his side for his naps (I watch him while his naps). At nights he sleeps on his back; but I have been researching but I haven’t find any information on what exactly to do.
@@chelseyummali my baby reflux has decreased some. he’s wasn’t diagnose with anything relating to specifically for his reflux. His pediatrician said he would grow out of it. So I did get him evaluated back then. I’m just keeping my eye on it.
@@ebony9145 so good to hear. It's never comfortable for us mommy's to be our babies bothered. There would be nights I'd burp my first for 40 min before he'd sleep comfortably. My other 2 were much easier.

My baby loves to sleep on her back. But after a good feed, doesn't it increase the risk of chocking milk vomit?
You have to burp for at least 4 mins before laying them down after a feed.
I usually burp my bundle of joy for 10mnts and then lay her down after 20mnts
I'm having issues burping my baby any suggestions
@@royettelaurent3466 sit him/her up as if sitting down and hold their head. They’ll naturally burp after a good feeding

Sleeping on the back is not safe as it can cause sudden infant death syndrome. The tongue can fall back and block the air way
Incorrect
The most dangerous one is choking on milk.
