Oh I loved your video so much! Not only because of USS Hancock but also because of your choice in music. Berlioz adds just another dimension to it. Thank you so much!
Amazing that they chose to operate an aircraft like the Cutlass from an axial decked carrier. Those pilots had balls of steel. Also amazing that those carriers saw such short service lives after the war. The aircraft got too big, the Essex carriers were too small, yet the British managed to operate Phantoms on a carrier even smaller, and even a 27C still carried almost twice the airwing of an British Audacious class or the French Clemenceau class, the only ones that came close to a US aircraft carrier in size and capabilities.
Served aboard her in the early 70's
i served on the Hancock 1974 to its decommissioning in 76. It was a great old girl.
Wow amazing... my dad served on that carrier. I believe in 1955 😢
Amazing They came in so low and doing engine cuts like piston aircraft. No meatball!
Thank You so much for the new footage from number CV # 19 Let the film do all the talking! Great video! :-D
Glad you enjoyed it!

Beautiful film of early jet era naval aviation!!
Looks like the F-7U Cutlass at 4:06 has a cable underneath, could it be the bridle from its launch? I've never seen that happen before.
The fouled cable underneath the aircraft that just appears is baffling...the shadows do not fit with reality!

My uncles was on the USS Hancock CV -19 1944-1945 in the pacific theater.
What a great video, the colour footage from Op. Steam was a joy to watch, and even the choice of music was excellent. Thanks for posting. Subbed.
Thank you very much!
Those side elevators must have gotten a real workout when a lot of aircraft were landing on.
The Mitchells were B25s, not 26s
The tricycle gear made landing so much easier.
sounds like a soundtrack from an early silent movie
Music from The Shinning
Gutless Cutless, or Ensign Eliminator
