One thing/trend I've noticed on a lot of shows/interviews/podcasts etc is that nearly every speaker is still hyper fit, strong and generally able bodied. It's exceptionally rare to see people that have been *physically* damaged from war i.e. missing limbs, eyes, wheelchairs, significant burns etc. Granted some of these individuals may not want the publicity but I do wonder if there's an element of hiding this stuff away because it makes the military look less glamourous.

He was very quiet lad but did some very good things whilst out and about. He had an eye for collecting intelligence which was key to what we were doing. I left the army in 2006 and always wondered what he ended up doing. Seeing him here is fantastic and to be honest.. nothing that has happened to him surprises me.

    A poem for this warrior..
    A Farewell to Arms
My golden locks Time hath to silver turnd.
O Time too swift, O swiftness never ceasing!
My youth 'gainst time and age hath ever spurnd,
But spurnd in vain. Youth waneith by increasing.
Beauty, strength, youth, are flowers but fading seen,
Duty, faith, love, are roots, and ever green.
My Helmet now shall make a hive for bees
And lovers' sonnets turne to holy Psalms.
A man at Armes must now serve on his knees,
And feed on pray'rs, that are Age his alms.
But though from Court to Cottage I depart,
My Saint is sure of mine unspotted heart.
And when I saddest sits in homely cell,
I'll teach my Swaines this Carrol for a song.
Blest be the hearts that wish my Sovereigne well,
Curs'd be the souls that thinke her any wrong.
Goddess, vouchsafe this aged man his right
To be your Beadsman now that was your knight.
    - George Peele, "A Farewell to armes", Polhymnia,[3] 17 November 1590.

You can still sign up to the army at 16 in the UK 😬 (You don’t get sent on any tours until 18 though, that’s part of how they try to lure guys in, “If you sign up at 16, two years of your contract, you’re relatively safe, and you can leave at 22 with a mortgage deposit saved up” etc).

    • @acidrage5206
      @acidrage5206 7 месяцев назад

15 3 months you can sign up usually take 9 months to sort out or something. i signed up at that time so i could join the PARA's straight from school. Teacher got me to do it lol. i ended up in prison and tbh i wished i had the choice of army of prison.
all i ever wanted to do was be a soldier... mother watched soldier soldier everyday i grew up watching platoon... universal soldier i know they're very different.
I had Bios from so many ex SAS soldiers or ex PARAs i wished i was soldier more than anything... most will say i'm full of shit but i needed a father a role model and to be moulded into a man and the Army/PARAs would've done just that which is why i say this.
i was born in 88 so gives you a little idea of the war films and series i would've been into.
mothers ex was in bosnia with the RAF which was mental was based in germany for a while too so its not like i didn't know what war or being a soldier was.

I find that a lot of the Special Ops and Special Forces guys from militaries from The United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Italy and Poland all look the same. There's definitely a ''type'' for these kinds of units. I remember U.S. Navy SEAL Jocko Willink saying that these kinds of jobs even affect your appearance and how you look over time and I think that that can be part of it, too. There are some guys, they don't even have to say one word and you can just take one look at them and tell that they were in the military and there are others that you would never know it unless they told it to you.
But the guys from the Swedish Special Forces, on the other hand, like Christian Craighead said, all seem to look like the bad guys from the movie Die Hard! A lot of them are tall, blonde and good -looking. It's weird! But military service is mandatory in Sweden( like it is in Israel), so maybe that's why they all look like that!

The fact that he lost part of his brain and can recall all of this and I can't remember what I did yesterday is really fuckin annoying. Excellent video.

Reminds me of the film = The Lost City. Where Brad Pitt's character is shot in the head believed dead, then reappears at the end of the film doing yoga. He feels 100% that's 10%. As you only use 10% of your brain so he switched to another 10%.
Glad your alive and well, Sir.
Take care. Some of us appreciate your service. Shame the government don't treat you all like royalty, that you deserve.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it’s a myth that we only use 10% of our brains.
It is true though that if a certain part of the brain is damaged and there’s loss in function another part can take over to cover that function.
