just so you guys know, this song was actually made as a protest, an amazing one, but it is a protest. Its against the modern society of Japan and its strict rules. Alot of people in japan are actually very depressed most of the time because of how grueling their work schedule is. The bridge between the chorus and the verse where she says things like "checking the stock market on the way to work" are examples. I personally am on side with the song and also really enjoy the song. edit: for some reason alot of stuff happened in the replies, putting this edit as a warning.
People are too focused on their work, career, to enjoy their life, get married, have a family not to mention suicide, mental illness, and low birth rate as social consequences of such a demanding, competitive, status based, low wage, uncooperative system.
Edit: going to say again that this is my reading of the tone and intention of the lyrics and I don’t need people @ing me to “correct” my personal opinion. Thanks i mean, it's a bit more tongue-in-cheek than that imo. the lyrics about how the singer is a "so-called genius" and how other people are "too mediocre" to understand are (in my opinion) more about the attitude some people can have, thinking they're better than those older than them despite not having shown that in any way, especially in the workplace or school. then there's the line about how she knows she knows she's not actually a big deal but that doesn't matter and the final shot of the red sniper dot on her forehead in the MV to show how a lot of the things she says could be flipped around and shot back at her. it's kind of a profile of 中二病 in the workplace, people thinking they're better than they are mixed with the genuine frustrations of work culture in japan. in the japanese lyrics there's a much more obvious 中二病/cringiness to the way things are said than i think comes across in the english subs. it sounds a lot more like a teenager complaining about how unfair life is than some kind of protest song. i think people take it way too seriously because of the nuances lost in translation but that could just be me lol
Im sure with a lot of other neighboring countries like China, Singapore, South Korea, ect. This song will blast to a billion once it gets more exposure

The raw emotion able to be communicated by a angry voice that, as you would see from her other songs with a calmer idea, can be switched to calm and harmonious at will, combined with the gravelly growl in the back of it all makes for a extremely emotional and powerful singer!
Ado-sama's voice (and vocal range) is so incredible my mom thought it's few different people singing when I showed her this song It's been a year or two ago I guess, I wish I found her a lot sooner
I first heard her while I was trying to study and have random Japanese songs as my background using youtube music. when her song, Usseewa came in, bro she stole all of my attention. It was as if I couldn't focus on anything else but her sound, which was damn good. The vibrations I feel in my ear especially during the "huh?!" part is just chef's kiss. and now I'm here falling into her rabbit's hole.
I was playing a game when I heard this song for the first time through youtube recommendations. I fr minimized the game tab to see what song it was because the song was perfect
@@laddydeath2301 since no one is responding properly (besides that it's not from an anime) : this is actually her debut song! I'd highly recommend checking those out if you haven't yet, she's so talented and even without understanding japanese, she manages to make you feel her emotions
Now that it's reached 200M views, I'm going to celebrate by giving a theory, because we all ADORE WOOMA and their tragic characters, with events that make you go "AHHHH!!!!! WHY DID THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN?! THEY COULD HAVE DONE IT ANOTHER WAY BUT NO..." and just their overall art style in general! Without further *ado* here I go: First off. The girl in the video is a young adult who already has graduated from high school. You can tell this because she still has her teenage-ness to her - she wears a schoolgirl-reminiscent outfit, has a lollipop in her mouth that signifies her childishness, mentions being a genius honor student who grew up, and has this song which is about her frustrations now that she has become an adult, which is further backed up by having Ado, who at the time sung this when she was 17, a young age. Another thing that I thought is important to mention is that the lyricist of this song, syudou, has worked in a previous company before that he was just generally unsatisfied with, but has now took to a different career that he can actually have an enjoyment out of. His songs have a distinct darkness to them that can just be uncomfortable to people, which I've seen some people criticize syudou for. You can tell that he carries this style in the lyrics of USEEWA, as the girl talks about her experiences with being dissatisfied with society and all the standards being placed on her. Going off of Wikipedia's entry for "Usseewa", Ado speaks "on behalf of members of society about their dissatisfaction and anger with society". Another text reads "Ado has expressed that the lyrics of the song are meant to help relieve the stress of her audience by resonating with their frustrations. She further states that she "sing[s] people's anger in their place, because [she] want[s] them to live positively."". So there's the context behind Usseewa coming from Ado that I was too lazy to sum up and just copypasted from Wikipedia. Next, there is some vague backstory of the girl that you can get from listening to the song, even if we actually do not have flashbacks into her life as a child. I believe she comes from a wealthy background and has rich parents, given that she is considered a "genius" and "honor student", as well as the fact that she's implied to have gotten a job recently, and that the people in the MV have similar color palettes to them (it could be people working at the job, but ambiguity is there for a reason and I'm sticking with what I think.). People who are considered "genius" have very high standards placed upon them by society (including family), which is just one part of her identity and why she is frustrated with society overall. The girl has been hired to work in a corporate company, one that requires her to conform to the minimum rules of social manner and serve her superiors without question. At this job, she wears goggles that obscure her face. This symbolises the mask that she wears - she has been raised to conform with what's considered "normal", and you can see the people surrounding her that they wear the same goggles too. USSEEWA follows the story of her voicing her frustrations. She criticizes everyone for being the same and always conforming. I think that because of her wealthy background and her critiques of society, as well as the fact that she claims to be speaking for everyone with the same feelings as her, that she is probably a known figure to others. So much so, that through voicing her own opinions, she is being closely monitored by others and her every move watched (0:38). The people standing beside her in that one scene could either be her family members, coworkers, or even a personification of the people who always conform to society's expectations, perhaps even a combination. They are significant because later, the girl is shown to shoot them with a gun, and then there is another scene where you can see their dead bodies on the floor. This is where my personal theory comes in. Because of her being so pronounced in her beliefs, someone has actually hired someone to kill her and stop her from breaking society and all of its expectations, practices and ethics. I think those people that were standing beside her were the ones who wanted to kill her. However, it's shown that there may be one person that escaped being shot by her. I think the person who was watching her through the goggles at 0:38 is the one who ends up at the very last scene trying to shoot her, where the girl is shown in a shocked expression, showing that she didn't actually know someone was there. Because of the obvious distance between them, they were a shooter too. That ends up being contrasting to the girl, because she's also seen with a gun so maybe that's just a natural resource of their company? With all this combined, it leads me to think that there was actually not one person, but a group of people who were hired to try take her down for standing against society. Whether or not she ends up actually dying is a mystery. WOOMA left it on a cliffhanger, which leaves much to the imagination on what could happen next. I have no exact idea what it'd be since there's no continuation, so I'll leave it up to anyone who ends up reading this... So anyway in conclusion PRAISE ADO, SYUDOU, WOOMA NAOKI ITAI AND ORIHARA AND ANYONE ELSE INVOLVED IN THE PRODUCTION FOR MAKING THIS GREAT PIECE OF WORK THAT MADE ME USE MY BRAIN FOR ONCE 🙏🙏🙏
Im very proud of her and the main reasons are she made this when she was 17, she uses her voice amazingly, shes entirely self taught, AND she started when she was 14
“I’m healthier than you think” is an absurdly powerful line. It so efficiently conveys a sense of loathing and feeling patronized by those who would judge you without understanding you.
Some people are angered by the fact that this song is true. I truly admire people like Ado because she rebels against Japan's harsh norms and shows us that it isn't as great as it is on TV and shown on social media.
I'm hearing this song in 2021 and I'm drawn to her voice, there's something magical about her voice that cheers me up, maybe the occasional growl? Possibly a powerful voice? I don't know, I just like her voice
Her voice is versatile. She can sing aggressive, she can sing calm, her voice can stretch, her voice can growl. She can do so much stuff with her voice. A perfect example is this video: ruclips.net/video/zcgoi61B5D8/видео.html I only listened to a few of her music, but I'm trying to listen to her more
The fact that she is still 17 years old and signed a contract to Universal Music Japan is amazing and mind blowing, like the amount of talent and hard work she puts when she sings is just astonishing. Im glad that I found out about her 2 years ago when she did a cover of Jigahidai and look where she is right now, she has ascended to a whole new level and Im very happy for her achievements. I wish her all the best both in life and her future projects❤️ Edit: She is 18 now btw Edit#2: She debuted from Universal Music Japan on October 15, 2020

2 years already since i listened to your voice, as well as the song, and it will be 3 years this year. Thank you Ado for popularizing this song to the place not only in Japan, but also whole part of the world. She was 17 when she produced this song and and was released 23 October, a day before her 18th birthday! It is also a song that propellered her as an mainstream J-Pop singer that she will continue to do so for the much of the 2020s! What an amazing voice she has man!!!!! Also how time flies fast!!!!! She is now 20 and is already trying to break her carrer by expanding her musical carrer in USA, but i don't see any news annoucement on what kind of new song she will be released in US? Also, look forward to your come back!
i love this song so much. despite my (VERY) limited knowledge of japanese, it’s still such a masterpiece (just like anything sung by Ado) and the vibe and meaning of the song are communicated perfectly even with the language barrier. easily one of my favorites
I think the song resonates well with a lot of people, esp. the millennials and Gen Z. The world consistently goes through revolutions, and while the words are aggressive, the concept of taking the bull by the horns and telling it as it is rings loud and clear.

What is correctness?
What is foolishness?
I'll show you exactly what they are!
Since I was a small child I was a gifted perfect student
Before I knew it, I was an adult
A thought process as sharp as a knife
That I obviously wouldn't have
But I haven't had enough fun
Something's not enough
This is a conundrum, that is somebody's fault
Every day I roam around aimless and confused
That's fair, isn't it?
I'm caught up to the recent trends, obviously
I even check the economic trends while commuting to work
Enter the office with a pure and subservient mentality
The basic rules of being a functioning adult
Huh? Shut up, shut up, shut the f*ck up!
I'm healthier than you think
You probably won't understand
Since you're totally and completely average
That indifferent melody
It suits you so well!
Shut up, shut up, shut the f*ck up!
No problem, my brain is wired differently
That being said, I'm a model citizen
No thanks to things like punching and fighting
If needed, just find a gun of words
Point the gunpoint to that head
And pull the trigger
Isn't it incredible? I can't even stop
The crippled result of grumbling about unfairness and unsatisfaction
Is a mentality that turns sadistic
It's so f*cking nauseating
If there's a glass empty, repour it immediately
Take off the picks so it's easier for everyone
Take the initiative when ordering or when the check comes
It's the unsaid minimum etiquette
Huh? Shut up, shut up, shut the f*ck up!
Close your foul f*cking mouth, I can't take it anymore
The spokesperson of the modern world is obviously me!
I'm so tired of it
The watered down and rephrased parodies
Shut up, shut up, shut the f*ck up!
I'll put a fat cross on that meaty face of yours
Shut up, shut up, shut the f*ck up!
Shut up, shut up, shut the f*ck up!
I'm "the genius" that you speak of in common parlance
Shut up, shut up, shut the f*ck up!
I'm healthier than you think
You probably won't understand
Since you're totally and completely average
God, it's so boring
How many times do you have to tell that memory?
Shut up, shut up, shut the f*ck up!

Without further *ado* here I go:
First off.
So anyway in conclusion PRAISE ADO, SYUDOU, WOOMA NAOKI ITAI AND ORIHARA AND ANYONE ELSE INVOLVED IN THE PRODUCTION FOR MAKING THIS GREAT PIECE OF WORK THAT MADE ME USE MY BRAIN FOR ONCE 🙏🙏🙏
your comment took me an hour but nice theory

If a song starts pissing people off and resonates with a bunch of pressured people, you know it's top tier punk.

i can't really describe it but this genre of music always feels like it's the last period of a great day full of energy
@Dante Lodato-Haag Jpop innit
@Dante Lodato-Haag it's rock but softer?
I know about the "denpa" genre, but I'm not really sure if this song would be considered in that genre...

i love this song so much. despite my (VERY) limited knowledge of japanese, it’s still such a masterpiece (just like anything sung by Ado) and the vibe and meaning of the song are communicated perfectly even with the language barrier. easily one of my favorites
でも日本語わかるのすごいね
I mean, it has subtitles, if you ever wonder about translation... But yeah, it IS a good song.
I think the song resonates well with a lot of people, esp. the millennials and Gen Z. The world consistently goes through revolutions, and while the words are aggressive, the concept of taking the bull by the horns and telling it as it is rings loud and clear.
