    PocketBook somehow manages to release a new device near-constantly and for every one of them to look exactly the same

    I might replace my paperwhite this year and something like this is what I'm looking for. Overactive gyros is why I keep auto rotate off. Nowhere near as infuriating as Auto power windows 😠

    It seems like a good device, if only there were more storage memory, because with audiobooks and pdf, it will fill up quickly. Otherwise, it looks really nice for reading.

    They and all ereaders need a good algorithm to refresh the screen from 1 fps to high speed and even just parts of the screen, not all.

    Tnhanks for the nice review, however, the light is on all the time. Why?

    • @goodereader
      @goodereader  2 месяца назад +2

      we stated in the video and all color videos since 2019, Kaleido is dark, naturally. So the light is almost "required" to take the edge off :)
      hope that helps

    What I don't like is the PocketBook--Logo at the front of the reader. It is too noticable. But this applies to all readers from PocketBook what I don't understand.

    Nah, too dim/ dark. Sorry,.but kaleido 3 forces you to use the frontlight. Can't accept the fact that I have to use something for reading if it's glowing in my hands. It's not anymore a paper like. More like a traditional LCD like

    • @techmaster-ch5yd
      @techmaster-ch5yd 2 месяца назад +2

      Outside, with the light of sun you don't need the frontlight with kaleido 3, frontlight is needed when you are at home, I use 15% glow setting in order to have more contrast, with a black and white e-ink you will need also frontlight for the comfort, that why all modern e-readers have frontlight (no matter if it's a color or black and white e-link, on indoor conditions you still need frontlight). Kaleido 3 is slighty dark than black and white e-ink but it's not very annoying, the annoying part is that the resolution of color layers is only 150 DPI instead 300, and the range of color is limited to 4000.

    • @baltgames1
      @baltgames1 2 месяца назад +1

      @@techmaster-ch5yd I disagree that for black and white devices you need frontlight unless you are in a very dim environment . But if you have a kaleido 3 you definitely need to have it. There are many people who use remarkable without front light. Of course front light is a plus, because there are situations where you need to have it. But I am just saying It's nonsense that If I am sitting in the office I need to use the frontlight for kaleido 3. I prefer a more natural way for reading and working. If I need a glowing device I can get any LCD type

    • @ch3ckm8
      @ch3ckm8 2 месяца назад +2

      I came from a remarkable 1 user to a kindle scribe. Believe me when I say having a front light is a game changer. I keep it slightly on even in bright conditions. You wouldn't even notice the front light, until you decide to move around into dimmer areas and you can still read just as clearly. It's not harsh in the eyes like an LCD, but feels more like having a portable book light with you all the time (except the pages are actually lit evenly).

    • @techmaster-ch5yd
      @techmaster-ch5yd 2 месяца назад +2

      @@baltgames1 The frontlight technology won't hurt your eyes, as the light is not behind the e-ink layers, but only on the bottom-front, and you need only a very small amount of light (typically 12-20%, no need to add more light).
      I said that for black and white e-ink you still need a small amount of frontlight on indoor conditions, because the white is not really close to the pure white, I still see a kind of greyish on black and white e-readers, contrast will be better with a slight amount of frontlight.The greyish is more evident on color e-ink, but it's not the most annoying downside, as you can cancel this problem with small amount of frontlight. Big problems of Kaleido 3 are the 150 DPI resolution, the small range of colors (no bright colors) and the "door effect" that some people can notice on color areas.

      You get used to everything I guess. I have a boox tab ultra, kaleido3, 95% of time, no back light, even in interior, you see things quite well. When you put it side by side, then you see the difference. Sometimes I use it just a little bit, but unless I really need the colours, I've never put more than 20% light in it. I was looking for a bw simple ereader, but this one right now, with colours, is the cheapest with some waterproof and good build, at 135euros, seems a bargain, even compared with 155 bw verse pro

    Good quality e-reader but a bit disappointing on the screen. The screen of my old Pocketbook e-reader Model PB633 Kaleido 1 has the whitest and best screen of the new model PB634K3 Kaleido 3 with the screen tending to red even with the color temperature set to zero. I felt very disappointed. The new Kobo Color Kaleido 3 models are also better in color definition.
