Thanks a million to say the least for excellently playing the classic bass line to this musical masterpiece!
Bravo!!!!!!! The best version of this on RUclips!!!!!
i appreciate it! :)
Love that octave slide at Bar 79...
Great job, smooth sounds, somebody out there needs to play Molly Duncan's sax part from this song!
dude thank you!!!! been searching for years for reference on this tune
no worries, always happy to help :)
your channel is just perfect
Great job man! 🔥
Daz my jam! Nice job homie 👏🏼
This is brilliant but such a complicated song to play accurately.
great job ill be playing it in a few from a subscriber
have fun!
I cut my R&B bass teeth on these early AWB albums. Pretty sure this is Hamish Stuart on bass (he's also on "I'm The One" from the same album).
On the inner sleeve to SOUL SEARCHING, Hamish is pictured with his Mustang bass.
nice, thanks for the info jp! i don't know my AWB all that well, so didn't know which of the two credited bass players would've been on this track
@@justsomebasslines On a whole (IMO), Stuart's bass style is more about "Figures" than Lines (Gorrie). "Cut The Cake" & Schoolboy Crush" is Hamish. Great YT vids of these from SOUL TRAIN. Stuart is playing his Mustang. Totally live, too!
...and maybe Stuart played more with a pick than Gorrie (did both).
I saw AWB in 1977 (Wild Cherry opened)...this blew my mind > On "Love Your Life", both were playing Mustang basses. OK, there are 2 bass parts, after all. When I tried learning this, I was attempting both. I had a Mu-Tron pedal & it was a constant On/Off thing going on. Fun.
@@justsomebasslines If you wanna have some fun - Try "Grooving The Night Away" from CUT THE CAKE. The tune, "Soul Searching" is pretty nasty, too.
I learned tons of vocabulary from those early AWB albums. Even something simple like "High Flyin' Woman"...has those octave slides.
Gorrie is on bass guitar 🎸 on this tune I followed AWB had almost every album sat in the forth row ,been a fan since 75
@@GeraldGirtman-ic7pj Upon further review...I agree.
10,000,0000 yes
could you try The Dell's "if you move i'll fall"?
hey, i'm only taking requests through my Patreon page at the moment :)
Is that not a bit limiting? @@justsomebasslines

Yourself! @@justsomebasslines
@@EthanolEnthusiast not really. i have a looot of songs on my personal to do list and a lot of great ones from folks who have chosen to financially support the work i'm doing. i'm not trying to be unwelcoming to viewers who aren't able to or don't feel like supporting my work in that way - after all, i make a lot of videos that i hope people will enjoy and find useful regardless of whether they're patrons or not - but it's also not nice to put a lot of work into the videos i make and have people treat me like a human jukebox. my two cents.
