The MDA Labor Day Telethon was an enchanting yearly variety show that ran for half a century. Hosted for many years by Jerry Lewis, the telethon featured top stars from the world of music, comedy, and Broadway and was like no other show on earth.
The telethon was created to help support the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which is leading the fight against muscular dystrophy. MDA dedicates itself to strength, independence and life. To learn more about MDA and to donate, please visit www.MDA.org.
The word 'machine' in their name is not an arbitrary choice, they really are a groove machine. What a tight groove, wow!

36 years ago!!! Amazing sound, Gloria is a real entertainer. I watch this about once a month to get moving.
These folks started out practicing in a garage in West Miami. Eventually they moved out of the garage and became famous. The homeowners community in conjunction with the county named the road that house is on as "Miami Sound Machine Boulevard".

Beautiful comment! I couldn’t agree more. This was the first song I ever danced to and got excited to as an ‘80s kid. The half Cuban in me naturally comes out in me anytime I hear Gloria and “Conga.”
