Just about the most underrated composer and symphony.

I can never decide if I like the first or second symphony better. Same problem I have with Chopin piano concertos. Of course Kalinikov died young and his output is very small, which is perhaps why he does not rank so high. The two symphonies however do get a fair amount of love from audiences and orchestras. Regardless of how well the ideas are worked out or not, they certainly do contain some beautiful melodies and Kalinikov has a certain unique melancholic sound that I even detected in sone piano pieces of his.

    Kalinnikoff SINFONIE Nr.1 *Traditionelle Romantische-Symphonische Komposition ~

Ten times better than anything Boulez wrote.

Ah, nothing tops the romantic era for beautiful melodic music.

Not true! this symphony was composed 1894, and Boulez composed his music some 60 years later, 1950's,
we go forward in time not backwards, furthermore Boulez style is serialist music, the music in his time.
