kevin james is legit a great stand up comedian. sweat the small stuff is still one of the best comedy central specials ever.

One of the best ever is a huge overstatement lol. But it was great special. Definitely watched it like 10 times in high school

@@ronwilkin4151 Check out what a lot of legendary comedians & current headliners think about kevin james as a stand up comedian, I think you’ll be surprised. He hit his standup peak way before his movie career was ever a thing, and did King of Queens in between those for like a bunch of seasons. So yeah I can see why you’d be skeptical, because it’s been a minute since he was a genuinely hysterical standup comedian. But make no mistake - he absolutely was (and I guess probably still is) a genuinely hysterical standup comedian.

Kevin is a solid comic. Not the kind of guy who's your favorite, but definitely reliable. I've never seen him do a bad set.

It is weird when the crowd is laughing but you aren't. So you sit there wondering why the crowd is laughing. Then you think of Big Bang Theory and realize crowds love laughing at unfunny shit.

Well when you’re at a comedy show it is a little different. More inclined to belly laugh at stuff you would just smirk at behind your computer screen…. But it isn’t unheard of for filmed specials to be “sweetened” with added laughter. Most famously hedbergs Comedy Central special was supposedly a bomb irl and a cult classic once the laugh track was added.

I was never big on Kevin James. Didn't think he was all that funny. But after watching here comes the boom I gained a new respect for him. He's still not that funny but I like his work.

He and I had the same Ku Fung Instructor, James Robinson (he was in the movie 'Here Comes the Boom') Kevin took the stage name James bc of him (his last name is really Kipfing or something) so Kevin is a real martial artist....but a compelete and utter j e r k!!
