Reddmage, you and Early Riser have made 2017 the most interesting pair of thru hikers I have ever followed, with Gator Miller coming in a close third. But your hike has been the most compelling to me. You readily shared all of your fears, hardships and shortcomings. But you perserverred, what an amazing achievement. Congratulations!
In past years I've watched Redbeard and Sam Ducharme document and complete their Appalachian Trail thru hikes. This year you were the one that I followed. I'm inspired more than ever to complete the Appalachian Trail thru-hike myself as it is been one of my life-long goals to do so. Thank you for showing tremendous perseverance especially in the beginning to keep going and getting it done. Thanks for taking us along everyday!!
I have watched you since day one and I am so proud and happy for you. Jonathan is definitely a man of his word. Thank you so much Jonathan for posting these videos.
RM! It seems like yesterday you made that first video at Amicalola. You did it! Take it in and soak up every moment. Congrats to you! You have alot of things going for you and great potential and drive at that. Keep up the good work. Thanks for taking us along with you for the ride! It was truly a great experience.
Thank you for allowing my Wife and I to join you on your Hike. You, E/R, and Logo have been constants in our home for some months now. Well done. Enjoy your time. Thanks again for all the extra effort body and spirit that documenting takes.
I did not know one needed a permit to summit. Stupid me. I guess that may be a good idea. Awesome Redd. Yours wins the most spiritual award. E/R takes best Tactical. Logo rakes in Most Personally Enjoyed award. Thanks again from our home to yours there on top of your Goal.
Greetings from Ireland big guy. Watched all of your videos and loved them all. Looking forward to my AT Thru Hike whenever it will be. Learned so much from you. Thanks for the last 6 months or so and good luck with life. Hope to see more of your adventures soon. Leo from Ireland
It's great that you guys were able to summit together. The crew you hiked the last quarter of the trail with. It's good to have friends to share in the excitement and celebrate with.
RM, man watching these videos as you get closer and closer is like waiting for the ice to break off the local lake, we all know it's gonna happen, edge of your seat waiting. You start watching a persons thru hike on youtube, post after post, your viewers, us, we sure picked a winner to follow, cheers!
im.excited waiting on the summit... you have endured the AT...congratulations...im going to miss following you..thank you for sharing this with us all..to hike the AT and spending the time to enjoy it...
So proud of your journey. Can't wait for the final.. Your arm will have a permanent bend in it when you finish. It's not not going to feel right not holding that trekking pole. Awesome job Jonathan..
Loved that stretch between Abol and the Birches, I'm sure you would agree that has to be the easiest 10 mile section on the whole AT, and with Katahdin looming beyond everyone is walking on clouds anyway!
Again, congrats and can't wait for the final installment. I've watched them all and actually this week started over again as I wan't to re-live the trip once again. If you ever get around to checking out these posts I have two questions. 1. That GoPro. How do you dip in in the water with the water proof case and yet I can still hear you. When I have my water proof case on my Hero 4 I can hardly hear any external voices. 2. Did your pack cover actually keep your pack dry? My Gregory pack covers are really just a good water filter after a couple of hours in the rain. Thanks again for the entertainment. We've been discussing your thru on Hammock forums as many members ask about thru-hiking with a hammock. Join us sometime if you have time.
Good Questions Slug, I was wondering the same about his waterproof case. I would also like to hear your thoughts Reddmage on doing the thru hike with a hammock.
Lovin' your adventure! When you get home and are doing your trip wrap up please do a video demonstrating how you edited and prepared your videos for upload while on the trail. Thanks
Sitting here waiting for the summit video, but also melancholy that the adventure is coming to an end. Let us know how you are assimilating into everyday life. I imagine it takes some adjustment.
I drank from Katahdin stream through a bottle that had a little charcoal filter- tastes great and no gastric consequences, but you've got 2000 miles experience with water from such sources!
Simply amazing ! I HOPE that someone in your town welcome you with a reception and money for your next trip or for your truck ! you deserve it, its a minimum for man like you !! hope my message will fallow....
Could you do a follow-up video of the stuff you ended up with at the end... I just for fun watched the first video where you went thru all the stuff that you started with... It was kinda funny...
I cant imagine the anticipation you feel the night before you summit and trying to get to sleep. I would be pacing around like a jackrabbit. I also vote for a final gear overview and the likes and dislikes of the pieces of kit.
I CAN NOT TAKE THE SUSPENSE!!!! Just kidding man great video as always. So happy for you redd. Lot a people tried to talk smack in the beginning where they at now. You hiked your hike and got it done. Good for you man I can't wait to see this last video.YOU DID IT🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒

Okay everyone, about to upload the summit day
Can't wait!
Been looking for it today Thanks
Never seen that campground that EMPTY on a Friday! Those lean-to's are always taken! Crazy.
Unreal!
I often wondered why the logo's cross hairs was not lined-up with the summit. Now I know.
Quick poll: is Reddmage keeping or shaving the beard after this???
Trimming.
I vote shave!
I am wondering what sleeping ENO sleep system you are using. I am looking into buying one. Also, are you having to use an under quilt at all?
I CAN NOT TAKE THE SUSPENSE!!!! Just kidding man great video as always. So happy for you redd. Lot a people tried to talk smack in the beginning where they at now. You hiked your hike and got it done. Good for you man I can't wait to see this last video.YOU DID IT🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒
