- Bell 47G-3B-1 C-FSTR is seen starting up its engine and taking off from CZNL in Nelson, British Columbia. This classic helicopter was a really cool visitor to see passing through CZNL, love the design of the Bell 47.

Flew the TH-13 in army flight school in 1970. I love the bird❤. I used to watch “Whirly Birds” as a kid back in the ‘50’s. Great show.
I flew one of these in the Korean war as a medivac pilot. I met my wife, a young Corporal Klinger, the most beautiful-looking woman at the medivac base.
😂😂😂
Dude look like a lady
When I was in elementary school in the 60's, santa clause used to come visit the schools in my town, he would land in a bell 47 in the playground, with all the kids outside. It was a cool event every year...
That is too cool, that must have been so fun to see!
I did my training in a Bell47 - N7832S - in 1983. I still love the sound.
My son really likes helicopters 🚁 especially the Bell 47 he says it has very simple design and they don't make them like that anymore but wishes they would.
I love the design of the Bell 47 as well, one awesome machine!
@@TheHDAviation Well thank you for your reply we are glad you agree God bless you 🙏🔥🥀🐑🐏🦁👼✡😇✝️🤴👑💎🕯🛡🗡🕊🦅 John 3:16
What a beautiful machine. Thanks for the correction.
@@isfeldt34, the term “straight six” is a misnomer, misleading to those unfamiliar with 6-cylinder, air-cooled aircraft engines.
I really love these classic Bell 47 helicopters, a huge part of history and a whole lot of fun flying in them. Great catch Jesse 👍😎
This one was so cool to see, a type I've wanted to spot for a long time. Thanks again my friend!
That's what you get for mating a goldfish bowl and a Meccano set. Great stuff mate. I've flown in these a couple of times. They may not be fast but they are the helicopter definition of flying for fun
Haha I love that description. I bet they're a ton of fun to fly in, it was great to finally get to see one in person!
You've just gotta love that engine sound!! Cool Heli design... I quite like the bubble window on the front. Nice video once again, Jesse!
Go Kart engine 😂😂
I had the chance to fly in a 1958 G2A1 in the late 90s, what an experience that was without any doors on. Great capture on this one
That must have been a lot of fun, I'd love to get up in one of these classics some day. Thanks a lot!
I also got to fly in a 47 with no doors. Great fun. I even got a few hours of flight instruction, they were a real handful compared to today's helicopter trainer models (manual rpm control, no governor), then money (or lack thereof) made me move on to airplanes. But I still have special place in my hart for helicopters, the Bell 47 in particular.
What a beauty. This classic Bell 47 looks so good. Always a treat to catch one. Great video.
Thanks so much! I was really happy to finally catch one of these classics.
This is an awesome catch! Who would have expected to see this retro Bell 47 in this time and era?! Thumbs up👍
Thanks so much, it was so cool to see this classic!
Awesome!! The first helicopter I learned to fly! Great footage and sound. I was hooked on choppers after that . Flew Huey UH -1 in Vietnam . Will never forget the whirlybird !!!!
I remember taking a ride in one at the L.A. County fair in the early 60's when I was 6 or 7 years old. I still have a vivid recollection of that event!
Awesome Bell47 👌
Greetings from Egypt 💪🇪🇬💪
Cheers 🥂
working for Inco up north in the 70's.........this was our daily transport; best piston driven chopper ever
Very cool, that must have been exciting to get to travel around in the 47 regularly!
what was even more cool!.... experiencing a couple 'autorotations' in the same 47 from 2000ft...basically a freefall
Yep. Can’t beat that Lycoming 6
Nice one! Nothing beats that awesome sound of this beautiful helicopter starting up!
I have always loved the look of the 47. She is good looking.
Same here, such a classic design.
Unforgettable sound. A classic in helis story. Beautifull video!
❤👍🏻One of my favorite aircraft, especially helicopters.
Thanks for watching!
Wonderful video!👍
Thanks a lot!
The quintessential helicopter.
Love the 47.
One of the coolest things I've watched lately. Superb video!
I got to ride in one of those back in the id 60’s what a ride and memory! Good catch and fantastic machine!;)
That must have been fun, the 47 is definitely a machine I'd love to have a flight in some day!
Oh great. Really fun to see this oldies. Great video
Thanks Jerome, this one was awesome to see!
It's never too late to spot a B47! Looks like a DIY long range variant haha. Great catch.
Wrong, it looks like a lama
I was so happy to finally see one of these cool helicopter. Haha ya, I love the gas cans strapped on. They flew this B47 all the way from Winnipeg to Victoria over a few days (well over 2,000 km's, quite the trip in this classic!)
@@TheHDAviationI wouldn’t particularly “love” the extra 130kg weight on a hot day take off …
@@m3photo726 Why would that be an issue for you?
@@Tom-zs6bb No spring chickens in that cabin either, so, all together too close to MTOW on a warm day.
I flew nap of the land in a military Sioux just like this, i was a casualty on a stretcher litter, flying over the Cyprus desert,,,,,,,1973, it was a hell of an experience 😂
Incredible video mate!
Stunning capture 👌
Thanks a lot!
fantastic catch the sound is incredible liked
Thanks, this classic was cool to see!
Great catch my man, grew up around these guys in the American Southwest. Many an hour plodding along in the recip and turbine versions of these at 75mph, haha. Best view in the world though👍
There’s a Crop Duster that lives near me who uses one of these. He’s quite the marvel to watch as he can spray a field in no time.
These helicopters could take a lot of abuse and he proves that with each pass.
I've never seen a helicopter take off with jerry cans like that lol
That was a first for me as well, old-school range extenders.
WOW what an rare catch! I love the Bell 47, but I've never seen one of them in person! It looks like a insect🤭😅 Thumbs up my friend!😊
Thanks again my friend. I was so happy to finally catch one of these classics. I hope you can spot one soon!
@@TheHDAviation thank you, luckily there are some in europe😅
What a wonderful visitor! This Bell 47 is a beauty. 70th like from me 😎👍🚁
Thanks so much Matt, this classic was a fun one to spot!
Would be supercool to get a ride in that! great sound too.
I think you would enjoy it
That would be an amazing experience!
Awesome catch buddy. 😃👍
Thanks a lot!
now THAT’s a rare bird! never thought I’d see one fly these days 🤩🤩🤩🤩
you’re a lucky man Jesse!! 🤩🤩
Thanks so much Hans, I was so lucky to catch this classic!
@@TheHDAviation sure wish I can get to see these beauties someday buddy 🤩🤩
Nice catch Jesse I can’t wait to see what this years fire season brings to the airport
Thanks Natt! It's always cool to see what the wildfire season brings to CZNL. If it stays hot, I'm sure we'll see all kinds of cool stuff this year.
I soloed in a G4 with no doors. It was awesome.
That must have been awesome!
Every time I see one of these choppers I think of M.A.S.H. and the Korean War. 🚁 😊
Really? No way! It’s almost like it was used in the show and in the Korean war
Fantastic Catch! Great Camera Work, Well done!!
Thanks so much!
how cool and course the operation and structure of the helicopter, it seems to be so fragile, I've had many of this toy remote control, congratulations on the record
Beautiful capture my friend😀 Greetings from Japan 👏
First helicopter model most of guys seen first time in their life
Just too Awesome !Keep them coming. Jesse, you and Matt Aviation always have something interesting for us on you tube. Thx. Bye for now from New Jersey. 🇺🇸🇨🇦😊👍👍👍
Thanks so much Thomas, glad to hear you enjoyed seeing this cool classic helicopter. Thanks for watching my friend!

Also at grocery store parking lots. There was a show on TV in the 60s called Whirlybirds. 👍
Nice upload mate 👍
Thanks a lot!
I see these and I see the classic Sean Connery era of James Bond!
Wow Very Beautiful ❤️
love the 47... 😎👍
It was awesome to finally spot one of these beauties!
great video!! thumbs up and new subscriber here...
Makes me think of the television series MASH, she looks great!
Definitely, the MASH theme song was playing through my head when I was filming this one!
First helicopter i ever flew i. Super cool
Vraiment une libellule, splendide à admirer.
This beautiful classic was so nice to see!
I volunteer at a museum in West Chester, PA, USA... the theme of this museum is helicopters. As for Bell 47 helicopters on display... the American Helicopter Museum has 2 civilian examples and 1 military example that I guess was famously used in the TV show M*A*S*H.
Lindo o som de acionamento e um helicóptero magnífico..ruimmm e o calor na gabina
This classic was very cool to see. I bet it does get hot in that big glass bubble!
Thank You. T. O. B.
Bell 47G for ever
Love these classics!
The Bell 47 is everything a Robinson wished it could be.
Acho incrivel voces conseguirem manter essa verdadeira reliquia voando. No meu país, provavelmente seria tratada como sucata e sequer obteria licença p voar.
Can a Bell-47 enthusiast chime in and explain the "turbine" sound on the 47? I know it's got a flat-6 but as the revs increase it has a distinct turbine-like whine that increases too. I'm guessing it's the shaft or gearing. It's very characteristic to the 47 (though I think the old Hillers made that sound too)
The cooling fan and transmission makes most of that noise, but this one is turbocharged too (47G3-B1, I'm guessing)
@@RamblerMan68You guessed right. G3 Turbo. You can tell by the paired exhaust.
Gotta be broiling in that bubble.
Ya, it must be pretty brutal on a hot summers day.
Canadore flight training program used bell 47 in the 70’s
Abba Arrival.
I could not tell, is that Franklin Gray or Lycoming Gray?
Lycoming I 0 540

the sparrow from GTA Online?
Haha it does look like it, doesn’t it?
yes@@TheHDAviation
If it wasn't for the 47G, the troops on Korea would not have made it

Mobile Army Surgical Hospital.
It's bublé.
The perfect nickname for the 47 😃

I wouldn’t feel too comfortable flying cross country with a pilot who doesn’t check the clutch or magnetos …
"I wouldn’t feel too comfortable flying cross country with a pilot who doesn’t check the clutch or magnetos …"
Nor would I, but what makes you think the pilot didn't run the entire checklist?
@@Tom-zs6bbHe increases throttle at 03:05. No drop in revs at any time before that.
@@m3photo726 Did you not notice that there was a break in the video when the image suddenly enlarged?
In comming chopper. Such a familiar sound even now. From that helicopter.
