Awesome! The most beautiful-looking and beautiful-sounding helicopter ever! Always has been, always will be! I'm 61 and the #1 thing on my bucket-list is to have a ride in a Huey!
Yeah...I'm 66 and I love that sound, too. In my offshore days, I got to ride in the Bell 212, the civy version. All the pilots (PHI) were ex-army 'Nam guys. They rocked.
I grew up in Northern Virginia near Fort Belvoir's Davidson airfield in the early 70's. Heard that distinct sound daily. Few helicopters have that sound.
Love the sound of this Helicopter and the Chinook, I just wish it wasn't at 7 am every morning 50 ft above my house. If it's not that it's cargo aircraft or Mirage jets
I am a Vietnam Veteran.🪖 I am one of the lucky Huey, M-60, Door Gunners who survived to make it home.🇺🇸 the Wop Wop Wop of those Huey helicopter blades was the song of my youth. Those Hueys were either taking us into hell, or bringing us out of it. Sometimes the deck was so covered in blood that we’d have to land in a shallow river just to wash it out. As a combat veteran, I can tell you from experience, there is nothing glorious about war. 🎖💜♠️🪖🇺🇸
My very first helicopter ride when I was 7 years old was in a Huey. This bird will always be my absolute favorite, and nothing else will ever come close. The coolest sound in the world comes from this bird. It is the one aircraft where when you hear it, you know exactly what it is.They say you could put a million bullet holes in this thing during Vietnam & it would keep on flying.
In 1975 I did 5 Parachute Jumps from a Huey with the 173rd Airborne. An exchange with my British Airborne Regiment. Never to be forgotten. Being used to jumping at 600ft, it was fantastic to jump at 3,000ft. Time to look round and enjoy it. Larger US Parachutes as well. Slower decent. A swap of badges etc. I still have them., and a Ka-Bar.
At Camp Pendleton in 1967, we were told, “The helicopter will allow a rapid insertion of Marines behind enemy lines(there were no “lines”)quickly and quietly.” “Quietly?” Ha ha, you could hear those things miles away! I’m sure the VC and NVA said, here they come again!
I was a Sea Knight crew chief in the Corps and have a t-shirt that says, "even a deaf Marine can hear a Sea Knight coming from a mile away". I'm sure the crew of a Huey feels the same way as we do for our beloved Phrog...........even if it was replaced by the Osprey after 25 years in development
Flew in a Huey on Maui HNG So sick will forever have the feeling etched in my bones ,being strapped in with a 3 inch safety strap and taking off banking to the right side looking straight to the ground ❤❤❤❤❤ I'm a firm believer in seatbelts. Sounds so pretty😊
Worked at Hooper stage field at Fort Rucker, 69-70. Sometimes I would sit on the Hobart (APU) when the civilian maintenance man would plug in the Huey's to start them between training pilot exchanges. The real treat was the Warrant Officers graduation fly over coming down the Ozark road entrance to the fort, at least 4 dozen of them in a formation. Talk about a sound. Mostly D models. Almost forgot, 'Above the Best'
That would be fitting 🫡 how may Huey’s are still in service? I know there were a few being used at Ft Polk at JRTC as OPFOR aircraft as of a few years ago
My brother in law served two tours in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne, and they were airlifted into action aboard Hueys. Although it's been decades since then, he said he gets a good feeling when he hears a Huey's familiar sound overhead. He said it reminds him of those times when he and his unit were all together headed into the field.
I was an Air Force Security Cop and lived across the street from the huge Army Heliport at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Saigon! I heard these sounds for slightly over a year! Plus the most massive and smallest choppers to boot from the Skycrane to the LOH's . To be young again and thank you all who served over there!
The only helicopter that gives me a semi on just listening to it, flying around in one, abseiling out of one, parachuting out of one, all in a days work!
I loved the Huey as a kid and then in my 40,s scored a job as a flight sim tech at camp pendleton on novembers. You had to fly them to fix em. Probably 1000 hours after 15 years. Remember, dont drop your turns
Absolutely awesome helicopter the sound of freedom I’ve watched many documentaries about war aircraft from all wars I was never in the military but I respect them greatly the most famous helicopter of them all my nephew is in the army right now I would jump at the chance to fly in the Huey helicopter and feel and hear that fantastic whooping sound up close I’ve never flown in a helicopter but I would love to fly in the most famous helicopter of them all that would rock I love our veterans and respect them big time
Early 80's, 7 Hueys in attack formation 200 feet off of the ground with malithion to kill the Mediterranean Fruit Fly in California. Hearing them come from miles away then seeing them right over you was always awesome!!!
11:02 flew in Huey on S&D missions in Vietnam with 9th ID and 1st ID. Flew on a fuel bladder in a C model when I missed my ride back to BC. And I flew as a (passanger) in a Dust Off. Got my Air Medal for the many hours. If I ever win the lottery one of my first purchases.
just reading the comments .akes me appreciate this video and you all who serve our. ou try thank you❤❤❤❤❤ thanks for posti g this I love war movies and when the choppers come in to res ue or defeat I love it...behind Enemy lines...that seen tears me up when they reacue Owens i do t know the ki d of chopper it is but I love that scene❤❤❤❤😊
Spent many awsome hours in UH 1N from 78 to 81. Absolutely loved the Huey. "A" Co 1st Recon Bn. Best fligh was a winter night jump at MWTC Bridgeport Ca.
Flew in worked on both. 63 64 65 model Mike models 10 years. When the engine support cracks cannot fix.Last one I tracked is on display Pensacola, Fl.Flew in and worked on 3 Blackhawks 12 years.
Served in 170 AHC “Bikinis”, 52 ABC, 1st Aviation Brigade, Kontum Province, 1970. DG on H model Huey. Flew 8 - 9 hours per day. A very reliable aircraft. A very unique feeling flying in an aircraft without wings. Very cool.
I recall being on a Viet Nam Fire Support Base and hearing a friend come up to a Huey and ask the pilot how we would steal one. The pilot instructed us on how to start it and use its controls.
My co worker was a Huey door gunner in Viet Nam. I asked him how could you surprise the enemy being so loud. He told me the sound echos through the valleys and the Viet Cong really could not tell which way the helis were coming in!

Agreed! The blade slap of these things is nothing short of awesome. That’s why I love the Huey so much.
Awesome!
The most beautiful-looking and beautiful-sounding helicopter ever!
Always has been, always will be!
I'm 61 and the #1 thing on my bucket-list is to have a ride in a Huey!
join the marines. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to load you on a gunship and take you for a ride. LMAO
Yeah...I'm 66 and I love that sound, too. In my offshore days, I got to ride in the Bell 212, the civy version. All the pilots (PHI) were ex-army 'Nam guys. They rocked.
They really are the ultimate big boys toy aren't they, I've been in a Hughes 500 and they sound pretty awesome too.
look up the Indiana Military Museum, Vietnam weekend, usually in May. I did a ride a couple of years ago for 100.00
My headache is gone just from listening to that awesome Huey warming up!!😅
Spot on!😀
I love that distinctive sound that you could hear miles away, god bless our Huey's......
I grew up in Northern Virginia near Fort Belvoir's Davidson airfield in the early 70's. Heard that distinct sound daily. Few helicopters have that sound.
It's...soothing.
Love the sound of this Helicopter and the Chinook, I just wish it wasn't at 7 am every morning 50 ft above my house. If it's not that it's cargo aircraft or Mirage jets
The only highlight of my year in Viet Nam was I got to fly on a Huey once. @@argonwheatbelly637
Very distinctive sound. I love it.

My dad was also a door gunner in Vietnam 1970. 101st airborne division. He is still alive turned 74 yesterday. Thank you for your service.
війна двигун прогресу ...(лайно . а не двигун ..двигун смерті
This sound just gets my heart full of pure happiness and no matter what the problem or issue is this will definitely take all your stress away ♡♡♡

The best chopper ever made. Just perfect. Would love to fly one one-day.
Hands down the best workhorse ever produced. Since it’s inception, it’s probably lifted the weight of the earth by now!
Yeah¡
In 1975 I did 5 Parachute Jumps from a Huey with the 173rd Airborne. An exchange with my British Airborne Regiment. Never to be forgotten. A Sound I will never forget 🤗😊
It’s got that nice baritone voice. It doesn’t scream for attention, it commands it.
Neither will the Iranian president!
Love that sound..you know it's a huey you can hear it coming
I love that very distinctive "whop whop" sound, very unique. If I was silly rich I'd restore one and fly it myself.
Could have bought one of New Zealand's old ones. They weren't worked particularly hard either. Replaced them with those shitty NH-90s
Oh hell yeah! Me too. Maybe we can pool our money? LOL
Absolutely mind-boggling watching all that rotor gubbins moving and getting faster and faster! Incredible engineering.
The sound of a Huey is as iconic to the world of rotor craft as the Spitfire is to WW2 era piston-engined fighters......
Spitfire will always be 2nd best
The sound of Vietnam!
I listened to it constantly! Eagle Dustoff was near our compound at Phu Bai.
Exactly
Resupply helo IS inbound at this time over.
the smell of the JP4 is intoxicating
Fortunate son intensifies.
What a classic! Beautiful Aircraft.
Nothing more beautiful, then the sounds of the Hueys blades in flight! wop wop wop!

If you hear a hue ,,bend over and kiss your ass good by,,an sleek quietly..pardon sir,,stay playful..thank you for your service*;-)
Classic copter, classic sound. Love em!
Most wonderful sound of all the helicopters! First time i heard was while watching apocalypse now!
Helicopters are SOOO cool. And Hueys are the GOAT of helicopters!!
Nothing beats the sound of a Huey!
To a 'Nam vet, the sound is chilling.

I'm 65 was around during v.n.,best friend served in coast guard ..... love the hueys.......God bless America
I have flown in a Huey, Blackhawk, and Chinook. All 3 were amazing to fly in, though the last 2 were in warzones.
The sound of an era. Volume set to max. Brilliant.
it has been said that when the last Blackhawk is flown to the scrapyard the crew will be flown back home in a Huey.
I hope!
Ah ah ah ah ah 😂 bellissima!
Some will said of the B-52😂
As a Huey mechanic forever, yes indeed!
That would be fitting 🫡 how may Huey’s are still in service? I know there were a few being used at Ft Polk at JRTC as OPFOR aircraft as of a few years ago
there was always something so comforting about this sound.
Personally when I learn the sound of the engine of this Huey is the sound of Vietnam War and many Hueys in battle, fantastic 😉👍🏻
เสียงที่เร้าใจตลอดกาล มันเป็นอมตะ และทรงพลัง
My brother in law served two tours in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne, and they were airlifted into action aboard Hueys. Although it's been decades since then, he said he gets a good feeling when he hears a Huey's familiar sound overhead. Arguably, the most iconic helicopter in history!
I was an Air Force Security Cop and lived across the street from the huge Army Heliport at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Saigon! I heard these sounds for slightly over a year! The only helicopter that gives me a semi on just listening to it, flying around in one, abseiling out of one, parachuting out of one, all in a days work!
I like the sound of the heart beating as the wind blows through the two side rotors in the single engine engine. Huey's best progenitor. helicopter!
I'm British and I love the sound of a Huey.
I can pick these from my armchair when I hear them flying in the distance. And somehow Fortunate Son starts playing on the radio 😂
Engine start ups are so SO kool!!!
Beautiful absolutely beautiful
Der fliegende "Teppichklopfer"!!! Ein toller Ton.❤
By far the most memorable experience in life. Rode in hueys back in 1971 in Veitnam.
The 47G, the loach, and this one are my three favorite helicopters.
My friend flew these blade banging choppers. Good memories. Love to hear em. Fly over.
Love the sound of a twin blsde. Distinctive. Used to fly them a lot in my 20 yeats of Army life. Love the bird
A sound you can never forget as a civilian and as a soldier heard them alot growing up and when I was stationed at FT Carson CO in the mid 80s
Very unique sound easily distinguished.
very nice sound of the helicopter
It’s 80 degrees where I am and I have goosebumps from hearing this. So many good memories 😊
I work in a wildfire Helitack program that uses surplus Vietnam Hueys. I Will never get tired of hearing them
If you can fly a stab-bar Huey smoothly, then you may call yourself a helicopter pilot.
The best helicopter for all situations.
I FLEW ON 100 S OF THESE IN VIETNAM. NO BETTER SOUND. OMG THE MEMORIES. PTSD
I loved the Huey as a kid and then in my 40,s scored a job as a flight sim tech at camp pendleton on novembers.
You had to fly them to fix em. Probably 1000 hours after 15 years.
Remember, dont drop your turns
Ah yes the Huey. One of my favorite military Helicopters thanks to my Dad former Sgt Corbeil from the Connecticut National Guard out of Groton CT
OMG, I love the sound of this helicopter starting up and taking off.
Love this sound.
The best sounding copter ever.
The sound of the movie "Apocalypse Now".... Nothing sounds like this helicopter!
Damn I miss that sound 😢 they used them here in New Zealand up until about 4 or 5 years ago
They saved alot of lives!!!
Can you imagine the sound of a whole fleet of them flying?
Very amazing sound 👍❤️❤️❤️
Probably the most great helicopter guy to date 😮❤
Huey, the work horse.
I just watched it for the unique sound The Huey and the Spitfire are my favourite aircraft sounds

Turbo, pull up on the collective and syncs-takes over. Powerful and maneuverable 🇺🇸
Very nice audio. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, I'm ex military, I was a tanker, we used alot of Hueys to look for bad guys! Thanks USA for your technical known how! John P.
You can’t improve perfection!!!
The most iconic Heli on Earth. Remember the days we used to watch movies with Dvds? Yeah soldiers would hear this bird from a distance, the best!!
My dad was a door gunner and mechanic on the huey during the Vietnam War
Like someone said once. She's a marvelous beauty of engineering I'll do say myself.
I will never forget that sound of a inbound Huey rolling into a hot LZ

Old UH-1's will vibrate you to death, but the new UH-1Y's are quite smooth.
