    I choked up at the end of his speech. The world is out of balance, and it is wonderful to see someone with such a great reach speaking out about that imbalance. Bravo, Joss, bravo. Keep creating shows and movies and webshows that have strong characters, no matter their gender, and I will keep watching!

    This is a great talk by Joss Whedon. Don't know why there are so many hateful comments that have nothing to do with the actual video.
    I don't know anything about this organization, but I'm a Buffy/Whedon fan and consider myself a feminist. Our culture is permeated with misogyny and this man has the balls (so to speak) to stand up and talk about it. Feminism shouldn't be a dirty word...and I can't even tell you how sick I am of the word "feminazi."

    Another question for him: Why do you write these strong men characters?
    It even feels strange to say 'men characters' - see how entrenched sexism is.

    Back in the day when we didn´t know better. Whedon is the Weinstein of the nerd world.

      I wouldn't say he is that bad. He is a total hypocrite and a bully and a sleaze, but Weinstein was something else.

    Also Joss said it best "because your still asking me that question" nobody questions a man's character or strength in a film that's just how is character is drawn but when a woman wants to be seen as strong they ask that stupid question why? because the first thing people look at is her boobs and V and so they question why she is strong? Joss said it the best and that goes for every field out there.

    I love watching movies with strong female leads. I like watching Movies with strong Male leads. It really just depends on the storyline to me. We def need more writers like Joss in Hollywood. Such a cool bloke.

    I can't believe people would leave completely off-topic comments and rate down a video because of the actions of an organization that do not directly relate to the video. It's not even a recent video! A soapbox is fine, but please, get your own! If this is something you feel strongly about, make your own video! Make your own website!
    Respect is what makes people listen to your opinions, but the approach you're taking earns you no respect.

    Yes they do actually. There are woman fire fighters who fight forest fires when they are set, there are women in mines all over the world, they even drive the trucks. There are women who work in the oil rigs out in the desert and in our oceans and women work in the councils fixing our roads. Men also walk the catwalk and stay at home and look after the children.

    By the way, I had to Google "otaku," because I had no idea what it meant. You know why I that is? Because you're having this argument in the completely wrong forum, with people who are completely ignorant of the issues you're trying to fight. I didn't say I hated you or even think you're wrong, just that I have no idea about anything you're talking about. Which is why I think you should consider taking your fight to a place where people will actually know what you're talking about.

  • @stephonee
    @stephonee 15 лет назад

    I didn't say there was anything wrong with complaining. If you see something you think is wrong, then you should speak your mind. All I'm suggesting is finding a better place to do it. And I agree, respect has to be earned a little at a time. But commenting on unrelated videos is counterproductive to that.
    What makes me a feminazi? I'm really curious, because I've never been called that before. Is it simply the fact that I commented on this video in opposition to you?

  • @celebnaur
    @celebnaur 11 лет назад

    You got it all wrong, Feminism fights for equality. Joss Whedon is actually a feminist. If he believed that was true, what you are saying, he wouldn't be fighting for it.

    @TRAyres How are these 'feel good women groups" restricting the rights of others? Feminism is about equality it is not meant to diminish or disregard the equal rights of men. I think it is ridiculous and kind of stupid to claim by even talking about the equality of women that their somehow doing it at the expense of men.

    wow arguing about grammar on a social network real commendable... also woman are more than capable of doing those jobs if you actually were educated and took classes that had to do with how society works these days you would see that woman are a big minority group not just in those fields but in other job fields as well. As one of my professors said back then it was understandable that woman couldn't do or wouldn't do hard labor jobs but those jobs are diminishing
