One Word: Awesome The man they call Joss makes another piece of history through so-so singing I Love that he does what he wants and what he enjoys............ and one day everyone will see that he is some kind of genius.
hah, a budding musical performer! i love his uncertain little split-second pauses when he's looking for a chord, etc. an adorable performance. i'm not being condescending, seeing this really endeared me to joss... even more than i was already. i just find it sweet when non-performers, especially writers, do something like this. it's so heartfelt. loved the changed lyrics, also.
psst 'Topher' - did you know *all* the dvd bonus songs are available on YT, via channel "Commentary The Musical", lyrics included by opening YT's "show more" tab.
Sweet Mr Whedon, I think I get it. Thank you for creating all of those wonderful things folks love to pick, pick, pick, pick apart. You have come up with some fun stuff. Shame the Corporate execs don't seem to get it most of the time.
it's so funny because he doesn't just rip on us fans hungry for extras, etc, he obviously watches them himself and rips on himself and his colleagues ("we cut it because it did not advance the story", the most empty omnipresent commentary line) thanks guys!
You know... I remember listening to him singing the Firefly theme song and thinking "Wow. I'm glad he chose someone else to sing it." But listening to this, I think I made a mistake saying that. Didn't realize Joss was such a good singer.
So true everything nowadays must have an exact analyzed meaning that is obviously presented to the reader/viewer, intelligence is no longer assumed in viewers and readers. There can no longer be multiple meanings to a piece.
@conrax85 it implies that Jed and Mo weren't there so he couldn't do the original version. So he had to come up with something else that just as cleverly conveys the ideas on the DVD.

@@exodocian Why? Because he committed the TERRIBLE crime of expecting actors to do their JOBS??? LMFAO!!! Right! The god of lies only managed to pull off a handful of tricks, after the opening it was all downhill from there. I'm sure there's one more unrevealed plot but for this movie he was annoyingly straight-forward, even in his fights.
@Vadergeek Ok me and you have different ideas of what is and isn't awesome. You (and all the people that voted down my post) really need to find a different genre is you think superhero + singing = anything other than embarrassing failure. Only villains sing and even then they never get through the chorus because it's all a set up to get punched in the mouth by the hero, Who will be a hero just for that act alone.
Whatever that means, you and the masses can pretend this was a flawless epic, whatever. It doesn't invalidate my opinion. No matter how many of my posts get downvoted.
I love this song, even more than I love the version on the actual commentary.
This is why I love Joss Whedon, right here in 4min, 33 seconds.
Also, the man has a decent singing voice.
Lounge album any time, Joss. I'd buy it.

Homage to Dr Horrible at 2:58. I love you Joss. And Ira too. Going to the live show on May 10th!
I remember listening to this when it first aired. I heard there was also a video. So glad I finally came across it.
T.A.L. and Joss both rock!

Its weird to hear this version after listening to "heart broken" from Commentary! the Musical so much..
nice new lyrics haha
Joss this is why we love you. Keep up the good work!!!!!
Thanks Ira and the TAL crew! Love you guys so much!!!
Absolutely fantastical.
Decided this morning to rewatch some of the better E.L.E. Application videos. So of course I had to cap it off with this that I just love so much.

Reminds me a bit of Crash Test Dummies, which is a definite compliment.

This video contains two of my personal heroes.
This is from episode 379 of TAL. He wrote this for the DVD commentary for Dr Horrible's Sing-Along
@Craydon No, this is the guy who will make it ridiculously awesome. Hopefully a musical.
Brilliant.
Thank you for sharing this.

This song actually appeared in its original form on the Dr. Horrible "Commentary! The Musical" commentary track, so it's pretty much all Dr. Horrible.
Shucks! I was hoping for a performance of the theme from Firefly. I loooove that tune!

GENIUS!
This really should be played on the avengers disk, right after clicking extras.

Oh, cool. I didn't know that. I got my who-came-before-whats mixed up. Thanks!
whoa. did not forsee him taking the song in that direction, instead of 3rd act particulars.
That was pretty awesome. XD
Most meta 'thing' ever. #Metaception.
Whedon is fantastic. Everything he does is gold! :)
This has not aged well

That's true. Doesn't invalidate your opinion.
Hmmmmm... What do the differences between this version and the 'Commentary! The Musical' version of this song imply...?
Not the exact words, but the song nonetheless.
GAH he makes rebecca black look like maria callas
I don't want to analyze the song because I might break it...
Damn it! I thought he was gonna go into Everything You Ever... Still great though =D
@grokscifi His voice was fine. His technique was just a lil mediocre. For his live musical debut, he did great.
@chahka
Oh, yes, let's do that! Hahaha your comment literally made me laugh out loud!
btw Joss Whedon = awesomeness
its interesting to hear people laugh just because they think he is being funny
i sang some things i did not mean... lol
This is the guy that will ruin the avengers.

When you get past the action and laugh lines what do you have? I don't give a fuck if it made a billion dollars, Loki came off as a fucking joke.
