Thanks for checking this out! 💪
This interview with Maven went up 2 days early for any RUclips members of my channel.

here is a little odd fact, Konnan says he is one of Maven's uncles
@@egpmh2891 I actually asked him about that in this interview. He said it’s not true and someone must have made that up online.
@@ChrisVanVliet ah ok, I thought it was odd thank you for clearing it up Chris
Really well done Chris…nice work!
@@sportsfan8866 yes very excellent work
Went to a wrestling show when I was 6 with my mom, aunt, cousin. After the show they were cleaning up the ring and maven was on the phone getting ready to leave and I was so nervous seeing him that I was to scared to ask for a pic. He saw me speechless and came over, took the camera out of my hand and said “ don’t forget to smile kid” I still have the pic in my room and will never forget it! Thanks maven!!!
That is awesome. I'm sure you were shocked. 😲
Maven is a legend
You’re wife probably loves it hanging above the bed…
😂😂😂😂😂 Wish i was that gullible
Bro…we’re you shaking what an experience
You can tell this man has gone through so much but still hides it with his smile. A true warrior.
He has aged in the last 20 years
What has he gone through?
@@christianhafer9819 in another video,he hints at falling prey to the life on the road
@@christianhafer9819 Just the pill issue was hard on him.

Maven drips charisma. His athleticism was great too. WWF/WWE should've done more with him.
For real. When I was a kid I liked Maven alot! And he had one of the best drop kicks ever
He has a RUclips channel and he explains why he got fired from the WWE. Pretty much what he said was that many ppl gave him advice to become better but he was young and naïve and didn’t listen. Check his channel out he makes some very good videos.
I love him now, but back in 2001-2005 he had very mediocre charisma. I think he was just too young at the time and his experiences over the years have really built his personality and confidence. Everyone develops at their own pace and the fame just came too quick for him before he had the charisma to be shine.
@@Cozy_Talk By the time he did start getting better on the mic and displaying more charisma "creative had nothing for him", which is a shame. Still, he could have at least tried to improve in the ring and given management enough good faith to use him more.
Maven has had the quickest rise on RUclips ever.. already has a 1million hit video, every video has done 200k-700k and it's only been up for 3 weeks already at 50k subs.
Now 200k plus subs now
@@danielnadakuitavuki8093300😮
and now he's already 386k and almost 400k subs in about 8 months
Now he's at 499k subscribers in just one year!
Maven has a smile that's just infectious like The Rock. Just exuding positive vibes.
I was thinking the same thing, he definitely gives The Rock vibes.
as he says "i've never been in the dental industry a day in my life" hahahahhaa
Totally got this vibe! He's so engaging!
I get Rock AND Billy Zane vibes.
yeah it really is.
This is crazy. I'm a huge Maven fan. Not because of his run in WWE. But his stories about his run in wwe, on RUclips. Dude is on fire and needs to make more videos on his channel.
I remember Maven for when he told a newly bald Kurt Angle, “There’s no shame in being bald”. Those words echo in my mind every time I shave my head. I humbly thank Maven, I behalf of all bald people everywhere.
Guy eliminated Taker from the Rumble and got a absolutely massive pop from the crowd for doing so. Very memorable moment. No one can take that away from him. And just shows how much Taker helped younger guys in the business, even though he battered him all over the arena afterwards and put his head through a popcorn machine as I recall 🤣
I forgot about the popcorn machine.
He has such a positive energy. AEW, Impact or ROH should bring him in to do some guest colour commentary.
He honestly kind of has a good voice for it too, like I could totally hear it if you close your eyes and just imagine what he’s saying is for commentary
YES! I'm sure he's doing a pretty good job as a color commentator, his vibe, and tone nails it all imo.
Think that would be perfect for him
They should do more than that with him
Maven honestly hasn’t aged at all.
I know right? Unreal
Yea. Makes me sick! LOL
@Seth Freakin Rollins what did he sayyyyyyy
That’s what I was going to say good for him
I seriously read this 3 times as "Maven honestly hasn't aged well", and kept thinking it's weird that Chris liked this comment. Then went back and read it the same way again. 😆
What a magnetic personality! Such charisma and humility-happy to see him doing well! I’m still a fan!
You can tell he's such a nice person I'm glad he's well and happy
This dude literally started from the ground up in a very short period of time. He put on some great shows. Much respect. Hopefully, they will reserve a spot for him in the HOF since he was the first ever winner...
all of these interviews always leave me liking someone more than i did before
Then Chris is doing his job👍🏾.
Love how open Maven is, he's is just beaming in this interview and you can just tell how appreciative he is to have this opportunity to speak and converse with you, Chris. Thank you again for the great content!
When I see an old wrestler happy and healthy, it warms my heart
I'm currently watching through the Ruthless Aggression era and wow Maven was so talented
So was Kenny from season 2 I was pissed he didn't win, and they chose two females.
Yes re watching old wwe is great
@@xavier76thman season 2 winners were definitely the worst. One was just some mediocre manager and the other put on the worst women’s match in wwe/wwf history.
CVV is just a dude who's a fan of the industry and gets to have tremendous conversation with interesting people. Like c'mon Maven!? Shiiiiiid. Love it
One of my favorite WWE stars! Thanks for doing this interview, Chris!

You could tell Maven was dying to tell his story. Really happy he is making it big time with his youtube channel.
What a humble dude. He has such a positive energy to him it's great to see
This was my favorite CVV interview, ever! Did not expect anything from it originally, but wow. I felt so grateful for everything I have after watching this. Great interview as always, Chris!
Thanks Peter! Really glad you enjoyed it!
Maven oozes charisma!
I like how in this entire interview, Maven talks like he's cutting a promo, it brings back memories.
love the royal rumble moment with him and The Undertaker.
This was actually a great Interview. It was good getting caught up to what he’s been up too and he was pretty open and honest.
I loved Maven. Was honestly one of my favourites. What a gentleman. Great interview Chris!
Hey Chris this Is Josh Lyons, the singer/songwriter to the song Tattoo you discussed, while in my band Big Mother Thruster. We were on the compilation Tough Enough. Fully thankful to your discussion of my song Tattoo and loved Mavens honest answer to not really liking the song. Honest yet respectful response to your question. Thank you and much respect to you both. Peace ✌🏻
Wow😮
I can’t believe it’s 20 years. I remember the original show so well and really enjoying it. Each episode had a nice pace to it without all the glitz.
He had one of the best theme songs in WWE. I loved watching Maven wrestle when I was kid. I’m glad he is doing good, thank you for interviewing him Chris!
Any time someone asks my favorite theme song, without hesitation I say maven’s
The guy's a hustler and I respect it. He's the type of guy that's all in when the opportunity comes and he's got a great spirit too. Respect to Maven keep doing you brother.
People don't realize the INSANE pressure this guy must have had on him. Think about it: He was part of a reality show to determine whether he gets an opportunity to fulfill his dream of performing for WWE, in a time when reality tv was not only at its genesis, but was quickly launching unknown people into stardom, many of whom cannot handle the pressure of such quick celebrity. He actually wins the competition, gets a wwe contract, and in a short time is performing on weekly tv learning on the go and even had an iconic moment eliminating the undertaker from the royal rumble and the guy wasn't even 30 yet.
And all these years later after being let go from his dream job he has no bitterness, no anger in his heart, he's not seeking attention, in fact quite the opposite the guy doesn't even have social media and rarely does interviews.
Tremendous character 👏👏
I've been watching Mavens RUclips videos, and just came across this. I love how open and honest he is. Always smiling. Seems like such a genuine guy. Im glad his RUclips is blowing up. Hope the best for him.
Really good to see Maven after all these years! I was in High School when he debuted. Great memories and I'm happy he's doing good these days..
Personally this is my favorite go to for any type of interview. After a day of work it's good to watch someone being positive
Chris always has the best interviews with wrestlers. Its much personal and authentic. Thanks Chris.
As for Maven, seems like he's doing great and he's very wise, intelligent and optimistic.
Great guy. He was an extremely underrated wrestler, he was good in the ring. I think he was held back because of his size and they never let him talk. I remember he got more muscular around 03-04, so he was doing everything he could but they never really gave him a chance to prove himself. I just remember he went Sunday night heat and then he was gone. The cards just weren't right for WWE, he was meant for a different path in life. Glad to see he's doing great
He didnt get a chance and was a tough enough winner.
He wasn't that small
@@pistolpete8231 Right, I was just about to comment this lol
size? he was at least 6 foot if not taller, probably about the same height as guys like Brock,Austin or HHH

Wow, such a great interview! Something I didn't know I wanted to see but, very happy I did. Maven thank you for your honesty and Chris thanks for giving him the platform.
Maven was an amazing wrestler. He made history...And a great story very inspiring about following your dreams..I'm proud of him.
HELL YA!!! Maven, was one of my favorite wrestlers, great look, good music theme. I really wish he would of had a longer wrestling career.
Maven is underrated. He looks and sounds great! I remember really enjoying him from his GM-for-a-day run through his time teaming with Simon Dean; then they released him seemingly out of the blue.
Maven blew up in an interview with Van Vliet....Chris you bring the pressure bro. Great interview Maven is such a likable guy.
maven is such a good guy overall his energy welcoming its like seeing an old friend back again much love bro you always awesome - a friend.
Holy crap.. I was googling him months ago because I was curious what he's been up to. Awesome
I was just thinking the same and was searching him online recently, too. I was wondering "where is Maven?" Then, this interview.
A man who was just completely happy to be given the chance to live his dream, even if it was for 4 or 5 years.
He's done 99.9% more than any of us could ever imagine. Literal dream come true.
Great guy.
Love your interviews but this one is extremely good! Maven's energy is great! More of this in the future, Chris! Cheers, man!
Cheers! 🍻
Can we take a moment to appreciate what a banger of a theme Maven had? 🎸
Facts, I downloaded his theme on my phone.
I downloaded it on limewire back in like 2005 and listened to it on my super cool MP3 player lmao
Tattoo - Mercy Drive what an underrated Theme Song 🔥🔥
Great theme been listening to RUclips, it hard to find the full themes back in those days lol
@@aiyyazmohammed507 I listen to alter bridges theme for edge all the time lmao
I saw Maven at the night club in midtown Manhattan back in 2012. Glad to see he is at peace and doing well.
Maven was so underrated, the dude was a very Likable wrestler, he definitely should've gotten a stronger push by WWE back then. I have always been a fan of his and it would be nice if WWE brought him back even for a single match.
Glad you're doing well Maven. peace brother
Great to see Maven after so many years, 'Tattoo' was one of the best themes back in the day. Thanks for doing this interview Chris!
Maven seems like a really cool guy i can remember more of what he has done in the WWE than i can remember what happened at raw last week
Always loved Maven! I knew he had "it" when I watched him during Tough Enough. He still has that charming personality. I think that is what made him win it.

Maven deserves a hall of fame spot for his charisma and changing his life around
Man I always thought Maven was so kool, I’d love to see him in the ring again
A former wrestler that can look back at his run and say hey it was fun, blood, sweat, and tears, but I can smile at the end of the day. Says a lot about Maven.
If they were still making the straight to dvd Mummy/Scorpion King Movies, he could play Arnold Vosloos role.
He makes us folks in Virginia proud! Love you brother!
Here because I found Maven’s YT channel and wow, what a great down to earth dude. Genuinely likable and humble. Hope he’s doing well outside the ring.
Nice man..meet in Harrisonburg Va. Much respect..
Maven, thanks for being so candid. Understand that you didn't want to socialize your issues or talk about going from superstar to regular guy. But, like he said it happens to everyone glad he's happy and still grinding
It's nice that Maven has peace with the way things did or didn't go. His gratitude and positivity are awesome.
Maven is a great personality, glad he now has his own YT channel, he needs to get bigger.
It's crazy how he created it almost 4 weeks ago anba hour quickly he's got to 50k subs, only 4 videos and already hit 2 million views. He has a podcasting career for sure.
Awesome Interview Today Chris And Maven!!😎🐐🐐
I have that Tough Enough season on dvd. Still watch it a lot.
HOLY SHIT!!! It's been 20 years and this dude didnt age AT ALL!
Dude this is so cool. I heard some bad stories about what happened to him after his wrestling career, glad to see he’s doing well. Thanks for the interview.
No matter how you think his career turned out, he unquestionably had one of the prettiest drop kicks in the history of the business.
It’s awesome to listen to this. Maven went to Wilson Memorial high school with my dad. Only a few years older. Same school I went to as well
CVV and Solomonster reaffirm why I still have a little bit of love for industry. CVV by humanizing interviews with performers of the past and present but also we get a glimpse of them as people which is so nicely done, he is a credit to his craft and Solomonster for his tireless work with his Wednesday and Sunday shows.
Much appreciation to you both
Maven interviews are definitely more needed. I was a huge mark for him as a kid.
Another great interview Chris!! Great job as always.

"I'm going to New York for my first time ever. I'll be back Monday class.". I LOVE Maven! He reminds me SO much of me! I love that he's "human".
That Rock impression though, so accurate 😂
Would be interesting to see Maven back in the PW industry in any capacity. His PW career doesn't seem to be that big a deal to him anymore but, you can see how invested he's been in PW during his time and his knowledge from it still lingers.
Great interview, it's really cool to see how appreciative he is for the opportunity he had rather than bitter that he didn't become a multi millionaire like a lot of guys tend to be
Good guy Maven
Hes such a humble and optimistic guy. I watched the whole season of Tough Enough and I was a fan from the start. Him and The Miz were some of the most memorable talents off the show.
I still think Maven had one of the best theme songs in WWE!

He looks fantastic after 20 years! 😀🤙👍
nobody will ever forget the undertaker elimination, it was a shocking, genuine, beautiful way to create a big moment for Maven, which is still remembered today.
His other moment was the championship match he had with Triple H for the world title. It was an amazing match that I can't personally forget
You DEFINITELY have to do an update interview with Maven. Especially now that he has his own RUclips channel.
I can go the whole day listening to both these guys.
Maven always reminded me of the Rock and still do 💯
What a sincere descent person.
Its great that you are interviewing UFC legend BJ PENN!
Maven had the potential the issue was he was pigeon holed into being the guy who won the reality show they didn’t give the a guy gimmick til like 04-05 where they tried something a lil different. This is a common trend with all tough enough winners from the early seasons and one of the few reasons most didn’t succeed in a big way.
It kind of makes sense though. At least for million dollar tough enough and the 2015 version, the people voted for the winners. Why would you take a guy or girl who the people voted for and turn them heel?
@@voiddcxi2630 when did I say turn them heel? He wasn’t given a character at all he was just a white meat babyface that won reality TV show. They should’ve worked on his character off TV. I don’t know if a lot of the audience was watching tough enough at the time and following the contestants as the show went on. Maybe that’s why they debuted so many of them like that but it only hurt them in the long run.
@@joejames1794 you're spot on, and when they finally gave him a charecter they made him a whiney heel. I remember a ppv I think it was New Years Revolution he cut a promo, and the Puerto Rican crowd were calling him "pato". WWE then booked him to lose to Shelton Benjamin in embarassing fashion.
@My names Jeff They really rushed him out to TV and pushed him hard WAY before he was ready. In hindsight, it really seems like WWE was actually *trying* to kill any chance he might have had at a career in pro wrestling. It's the perfect example of what *not* to do with new talent. Guys need between 5-10 years in developmental and/or working indies to develop both their wrestling and promo skills, otherwise they are damn near guaranteed to fail. If Maven would have gotten the proper amount of experience and training, who knows what would have happened. While I think he most likely wouldn't have been a top guy (just a guess), he may have very well turned out to be a solid mid-carder with a very good career.
Nydia was pretty good I don’t remember if she won though?
Maven seems like such a honest down to earth dude. Great interview! Also, well said at the end Chris.
