If this does not work for anyone than power down the switch for 15 seconds then turn it back on it worked for me!. Not just the simple tap on the power button because that puts it to sleep so hold it down and choose to power it off

I bought a controller at 2nd and Charles (white Samus one). It had a usb-c cable. I looked at it and was like this isn't gonna fit. Found a extra micro USB, trimmed a groove. Plugged it in a charger. Ran the handheld, but wasn't recognizing it. Was betting it had to be hooked up to the dock...and you showed I was thinking right. I'm living the van life, so no big tv or living room to set a system up...guess back to using the system as a handheld. Thanks for showing how to hook it up for us dummies out here, lol.
I'm an idiot. I was plugging it into the back by the HDMI and didn't even see the ones on the side. Thank you , Sir.
For me, my controller still didn't work. However, it turns out that the end of the wire connected to the controller, it may look and feel like it is fully connected to the controller, but chances are it isn't. Press down on that edge harder to push it into the controller more. It worked for me.

So it also turns out, the powerApro controller will not work for a switch OLED. Only a regular base switch.

To use in handheld mode you will need USB adapters that will give power to the Wired Controller. You will not need to always use the controller hooked up to your dock as long as the wired controller is connected to the console with a power source.
This is the worst controller I’ve every had in my life. You can’t even use it on switch handheld!? They need to do better.

It’s a wired controller what did you expect. If you want to use it in handheld you have to buy a USB to USB-C adapter

Any help is needed. This didn't work at all. I have turned on pro wireless setting, I did all that was mentioned, the switch is brand new and the controller is brand new, it does not recognize the controller being plugged in. Any advice?
Thank you for making this. So I was actually plugging it in the right way but I think the issue was that the other end of the wire wasn’t fully plugged into the controller.

I figured out why for some of you it maybe did not work the controller only works for tv so you have to connect your doc to your tv to actually use your controller, you can not use it without the tv or doc

I kind of like wired controllers for my consoles, sometimes when they are plugged intot he console they seem be a little m ore responsive at times depending on controller. Wish more variety of switch wired controllers.

The problem is I don't usually use a dock - in fact, I essentially don't have it, it's in storage - and no one told me I'd need one. Now I've wasted thirty bucks.
You guys have to click the button in the middle it's a small button and hold it for 3 seconds
I just used a usb-C usb adaptor to link it up and plugged the usb into the adaptor and it worked

I wasted 2 minutes of my life. This is why you need to stay in School.
I need some help, the controller I just bought, which is that one but the splatoon design version is giving me some issues, I know it takes 6 hours to fully charge, and I've been charging it for way past that, the charging light which is like a red/orange starts to flash, it either turns bright red one second and the next is a faded red, then it turns off for a second and then back on.
I decided to turn it on without the charger to check if it was already done but It doesn't turn on, tried it with the charger which it did turn on but when I checked on the switch itself, the battery symbol switches between a fully charge battery to one that shows that a line is missing. The symbol changes at the same time as the light that indicates its "charging" flickers.
So I want to know if my charger is fucked up, or maybe if the controller itself where you plug the charger to is fucked.
It's my first time having this controller, any advice or explanation would be appreciated ❤🙏

I got the powerA splatoon 2 nintendo switch pro controller but i dont have wire for it and i want connect it to xbox one
so you cant use it if you're using the switch handheld? does the pro controller since its bluetooth allow you to play in handheld mode? is there a 19.99 or 24.99 controller that you can use while switch is handheld? lol i dont have a tv because i dont need one, have laptop, phones and switch so i only use it that way and the joycon adapter controller is just too small and awkard and these controllers look way more convenient

Just to let you know mines not syncing up at all. I’ve done all that. My other one worked just fine. I had to replace it because someone stole a lot of money stuff. Games controllers back up controllers $2500 worth of equipment didn’t steal switch with a store that sells the girls to switch so I replaced the dark out to replace the controllers, but the controller won’t sync up at all like how the other one is dead so I don’t know if it’s the cord or the controller but there’s something not right with the controller not working like push the buttons nothings happening I won’t sync at all

So the switch has to go into the dock to use the controller? Can't really see the screen when you do that...
The dock is used to be plugged into the screen, so you can play while you use your tv. You can also use a usb c otg cable to only have access to a USB port and sometimes a charging port. I don’t suggest getting ones with HDMIs on them, they happen to sometimes brick your switch. (Cause them to become damaged, and unusable.)
yea i dont have a tv and only use switch handheld and have many games where a controller would be way easier to play with and the joycon adapter controller the oled comes with is too small and awkward feeling. are there any other controllers that i can use with switch in handheld mode that aren't $60?

You should be able to return it. But make sure it's connected to the dock

I'm trying to play diablo 3 and I'm.trying to use the wired controller but wants me to hook up the joycons as a second controller for some reason but even though the USB controller is in first player and joycons as the second player and will only let me play on the joycons no usb controller

I have a question that needs to be answered asap! I saw controllers like that at Walmart and was wondering if it was like the play stations where you need a box to put the disc in to play? Is it like that with this controller? Can I just buy the controller and a disc game and put it into my dvd? Will that work? Or do I need to buy other stuff? Please lmk what I need to buy to be able to play the disc games from Walmart?

Mine works to play games, but the controller will not wake the system. I have to manually turn it on. Tried 2 different Nintendo licenced wired controlers, neither wake the system. I have the Pro Controler sensor turned ON, still nothing, and yes it's plugged into the docks usb.
The joycons and a 3rd party wireless controller both worked to turn on the system, but neither WIRED (must be plugged into the system to use) wool wake it.

in case the annoying controller isn't working, try pressing hard on the power button on the console and do the option to turn the console off
unplug the cord from the USB port, plug it back in, then turn on the console and then press the L and R buttons
