I can't believe that, for all these years I've watched this movie, I never noticed that the old lady in the rocking chair had a cat on her lap... until someone in this video's comments section pointed it out!
Oh I just noticed
What?
Yeah!
I never noticed it either, until seeing your comment about it.
It's Auntie Em.
I always loved Judy's reading of that line: "We must be up inside the cyclone!"
Sean Pultz I know how you feel, Sean.
But it’s difficult for you to do that.
@@madisoncastle5138 ?
0:10 that old lady in the Rocking Chair knitting along with the music always seems to make me happy. (BTW I just noticed all these years of watching this movie she has a cat in her lap, lets hope they both made it out alive.)
That cracks me up!!!
It was a dream of Dorothy's.
Idiot
@@diegolopez1005 Who are you talking to?
Same thing with the fishermen on the rowboat.
Love how miss. Gulch changed into that wonderful witch. Love how she looks in that hat with her robes blowing. The way that hat looks on her as she flies is so great. Love her laugh. Dorothy should have looked at her. She missed a great sight.
I always think that Miss Gulch was actually the Wicked Witch of the East.
@@darkd4489 I think so too. The witch in the tornado scene looks slightly different from the wicked witch of the west. It doesn't look like the same outfit and it would make sense that it's the wicked witch of the east since she's near the house before it crashes.
@@tristanlaferriere5194 The dress looked identical, but it's either white or grey. And so as her broomstick.
@@tristanlaferriere5194 It's the exact same costume apart from the ruby slippers. And it's made clear in the bit of song that Dorothy sings to the Munchkins that it was indeed the WWE.
@@darkd4489 It's black, but it's in sepia tone and lit up.
I love how casually the others caught up in the tornado just wave.
It's just another crazy weekend for them. XD
Yeah!
The first clue that Dorothy's dreaming.
0:42 The part with Miss Gulch had me dying 😂🤣
Yeah!
Her theme music is too funny💀💀💀
Why? Because she’s just casually riding her bike inside of a tornado?
1:24 I've always laughed when Dorothy goes "ooh" at the music suddenly stops.
I'm pretty sure that's the sound of the witch being landed on
Yeah, that's cute.
@@LavianoTS386 No, that's Judy saying, "Oh!"
@@LavianoTS386If it wasn’t for the Wicked Witch of the East, the whole house would’ve been completely destroyed with Dorothy and Toto dead.
@@Autistic_Gallant-92. Not so: as it says in the book, "The cyclone had set the house down very gently-for a cyclone-in the midst of a country of marvelous beauty."

It is a cyclone🤓
@@Disney_dude Tornado, wrong part of the world for a cyclone. A cyclone forms over water, while a tornado forms over land

As an owner of chickens, I can say I would not be surprised if a rooster took the time to crow while up inside a tornado. Literally a hurricane once hit and one of mine was crowing in the wind and rain.

That was probably the Wicked Witch of the East.
@@puterboy2 The one outside the window definitely was; look carefully and you can see she's wearing the ruby slippers.
@@puterboy2 Yep, it obviously was.
You know how a scene isn't necessarily scary, but a different feeling, more like unnerving, is best word i can think to describe it, but even thats not 100% accurate.
That's how I feel when Miss Gulch shows up in this scene, riding her bike in mid air.
Just watched this 2 weeks ago and it's still is a wonderful movie it's still exciting and scary and fun to watch.
❤ l have watched the Wizard of Oz since 1969, at the age of 3, over at my grandparents, whose house looked like Dorothy Gail's home....in Tuscaloosa, Alabama ❤
My favorite part is when Miss Gulch transforms into the witch of the east. The combination of effects, music, movement, witch's cackle, sepia tones are absolutely perfect, especially considering the technology and art available at the time.
The technology was state of the art. In many ways, filmmaking was more innovative then than it is now.
ALL of these sepia-toned scenes were filmed AFTER the color scenes and were directed King Vidor. Believe it or not, these were the very last scenes to be filmed after Victor Fleming had left to direct "Gone With the Wind." The beginning of the film were the last shots to be filmed!
Why "believe it or not"? Why would you expect the scenes to be filmed in the order they appear in the movie?
Like The Beatles making Let It Be before releasing Abbey Rd
That happens with a lot of films. They are not necessarily done in chronological order
What?
I love how like the house spins as the tornado spins too i feel like kinda dizzy
I was totally creeped out when Miss Gulch turned into the Witch. But then again, I knew if she would eventually become a witch if she were to continue acting like one.
Dorothy💗💓💓
I know Dorothy cannot die as she is the protagonist but it should be impossible for her as well as Toto to survive crash landing in a house on impact even though it was implied it was a dream.
She hit her head and then the house was in the air implying that she imagined it from the start
I mean to be honest though there is no way a tornado strong enough to lift a house is gonna lift it in one piece, either
Neither do I.
Because the Wicked Witch of the East was right under the house. So, she died breaking Dorothy and Toto’s fall.
My favorite movie wizard of oz is my childhood memories I got tape and DVD I watched every day 🌪🧙♀️
Lol always the funniest satire to life to this day!
What satire?

Dorothy Gale.
I wonder how they made those images? Double-exposure on a separate plate?
Something like that, and then projected onto a screen outside the window for Judy Garland to react to. Nowadays, such an image would be added in post-production.
My favorite part is when Ms. Gulch turns into the wicked witch!
My cousin was horrified by this scene. He is used to it now

Never realized that was the witch of the east outside her window. She’s wearing the slippers it’s just hard to see in sepia
"Just then the Witch, to satisfy an itch,
Went flying on her broomstick, thumbing for a hitch."
Mrs. Judy Garland is a Wonderful Lady😍
You mean Miss. Garland was her screen name, and her maiden name was Gumm. She had five different married names.
I don't know why but I get a safe feeling see toto under the bed
I never could understand why Dorothy called it a Cyclone!! Never in my 67 years of life heard anyone refer to a tornado as a cyclone

@A Sheep of Israel The Wicked Witches are twins.
Did anyone notice that the witch was wearing the Ruby slippers
I never noticed until just reading your comment about it. I always used to think that it was The Wicked Witch of the West. But it was obviously The Witch of the East, and then had the house fall on top of her when it fell to the ground. Also, in this scene, are Miss Gulch and the other people outside the window actually outside, or was it part of Dorothy’s dream? And another thing, was Miss Gulch killed by the twister in this scene? Is that why we don’t see her at the end when Dorothy wakes up back in Kansas?
@@georgemiddleton3315 Any reference to Almira at the end would have been too awkward, so they didn't bother. However, in the stage version of the movie, it's said that Almira got her leg broken by a falling telegraph pole, so while she's on the mend, the Gales will work things out with the sheriff.

Dorothy hit her head but did not dream she actually awoke in the tornado
@@norahmaloney1125 No, she was asleep from the moment she was clouted on the head to the moment she awoke at the end of the movie.
Why is she calling it a cyclone i thought americams called it a hurricane? Besides i thought it was a tornado anyway.
You don't get hurricanes inland. It was called a cyclone in the book, so that's the word they used in the movie.
Its better to watch in reverse._. You understand the witch in one land and teacher in another._.
If i take a rabbit hole and stand it side ways. Its a type of tornado._.
Now a witch is a queen._. A queen pretending to be a teacher._.
What side of a dream are you on?
This film is crafted with such ambiguity that the possibility remains that this isn’t just a dream. Or maybe it is. It’s up to us to decide. Miss Gulch transforming into a Witch could be a figment of Dorothy’s imagination or it could be a sign that Dorothy has just crossed the mysterious border between Kansas and Oz.
Dorothy is dreaming from the time the window clocks her to when she wakes up in the final scene.
