This explains why the scenes were so real and it felt like I was watching a Tyson fight. Badass movie Jake is beast if you haven't seen it ..WATCH IT!!
You can't gain 15 pounds of lean muscle in that amount of time. Most likely it was a lot of carbohydrate loading and water minipulation to get him to look the part.
@@SeptemberTwentyThird he had just lost 30 lbs to play the emaciated character in Nightcrawler right before he did this movie. Regaining lost muscle happens very, very fast once you start training again. Much faster than gaining it initially. So it's perfect conceivable he could've gained something close to that in the span of several months
Yea I'm sorry but no boxing / fighting movie that is going for realism has ever really gotten it down for me like not every punch is gonna rock your head back 100 miles power hour and boxers learn to roll with punches block most shots they just don't look natural it looks overdone or too stiff. Still waiting for that boxing movie that the fight scene looks flawless and realistic
One of my favourite movies of the year probably the best boxing movie since raging bull when I say that by the way it means as a boxing movie that explores its dark sides
because switching to southpaw by punching with the right while making a step forward with the right leg to get close is part of his gameplan for the last fight in the movie
He doesn’t look like a legit boxer at all. He’s just ripped. It’s not a bad imitation of a boxer I guess if you shoot over and over again and just take the best bits.
Rene Castellon For me SouthPaw was better. Creed after me watching the Rock saga over and over was not more original and full of tradition and atmosphere
Respectfully disagree with you about that, I found creed to be extremely cheesy and predictable... southpaw is better acting better character development and more original, but everyone is different and you're entitled to your opinion
I can see where you're coming from, he was such an unlikeable protagonist, I didn't give a shit about any of the characters in this movie. Creed is 10 times the movie this is...
+Ryan McGale they're both good movies i would say Creed was better but I'm being bias because I love Rockys character but they were both good movies in my opinion
This explains why the scenes were so real and it felt like I was watching a Tyson fight. Badass movie Jake is beast if you haven't seen it ..WATCH IT!!
just saw this last night - loved the movie, really impressed with the shape Jake got into for this...like, wow
Yo 5 month only?! This dude got cold af with the footwork and jab for just 5 months
Well he was training twice a day & was trained by a former professional boxer
Specificity. I've learned a new word.
Likewise.
Indubitably.
Small vocabulary for the lot of you I see lol
One of the best physiques a actor has achieved.
Steroids really work
such an underated performance/movie.
He's an underrated actor!
15 pounds of muscle....Jesus
+Jayy Prime testosteron
+Muhammed Chang It's not testosterone...why don't you train? Don't judge
+Pasquale Abbate testosterone helps with muscle growth

Wasn't the most memorable script but entertaining overall and good acting .. Def worth the money to go see
I wouldn't go far to say that the fight scenes were realistic. I know it's a movie and all, but the choreography was just way too clean.
Better than the rocky movies where almost everyone blocks with their face and don't believe in mixing in body shots
+thedarkknight646 u cant just compare wid rocky..rocks is classic

Ofc Not. In a Real fight there’s never so much blood 🩸
Ugh, he is so daddy-like.
Specificity is a very cool word
Jake and michael b Jordan need to box for real
They'd get killed against any decent boxer
@@russianbear6384 unless they fight each other
@@max.z.2809 now that would be a good match
man he's body good mashalla
5 months...2x a day? FOR A BEGINNER?...Holy shit
One of my favourite movies of the year probably the best boxing movie since raging bull when I say that by the way it means as a boxing movie that explores its dark sides
Our generations Rocky
That's disrespecting Rocky, the closest we get to Rocky on our generation is Apolo's son.
Jos' drawing no...
Every time I see jake I'm immediately reminded of fuckin Bubble boy lol
They should have left his hair long for the movie.
no way
Would have liked that too but tbh I wouldn’t have fitted the Charakter
Nah he was baddass with his short hair
there are no boxers with long hair
No, hippie.
The best boxing move of 2015-2017
Now I know why the movie is called Southpaw, even though Billy Hope is not.
he should enter at least one match or fight a real boxer with that amount of training
+feorix182 id imagine they probably had him do atleast one fight of some sort to get into the mentality of it more
+feorix182 the fuck. He only did 5 months you need to chill lmfaooo. He can spar no need to be in a real fight with no headgear
+feorix182 He was trained to look like a boxer not be one...
Sacropolos that'd be fucking stupid
Scott Oneill 5 months 2 times a day with a top notch trainer? Ya he could have done 1 amateur match
I love how he talks about the precision of boxing as he throws wild ugly haymakers looking like he hasn't trained a day
Dayum 😁😁😁
isso e potencia incrive jake gyllenhaal vc e show lindooooo!!!!!
this is incredible power of jake gyllenhaal vc and show lindooo!!!!!
He's right-handed but the movie is called Southpaw?
because switching to southpaw by punching with the right while making a step forward with the right leg to get close is part of his gameplan for the last fight in the movie

He should fight Ashton Kutcher xD
Ashton is a Gracie bjj brown belt. however good luck getting past those punches. pretty damn good for 5 months, jeez
Whats the name of this beat????
+Saskia Menzel kings never die?
Eminem - "Phenomenal"
CM Punk will win
What kind of footwork drill is at 1:20?
i think is agility drill
So much boxing training for fake movie fights
I'm sorry i just want to tell you that at least the half of the fights were real ☺️
Actually all of them were. He didn't use any stunt doubles
indd :)
Because it's a boxing movie.... Were you expect to obese people to duke it out in the ring?

Eh southpaw had a better message, I love both films don’t get me wrong but I loved southpaw more than creed.
Creed is woke garbage
TOO BAD THE MOVIE SUCKED
That's the first time I've heard someone say that
I can see where you're coming from, he was such an unlikeable protagonist, I didn't give a shit about any of the characters in this movie. Creed is 10 times the movie this is...

Creed was better.
damn I didn't know the director also trained
Me I got that 1,500 lbs of pressure not just 5 lbs😂🤙🏽🥊
Workout so hard for a (at best) mediocre movie...
If it makes money it makes sense
