she unironically would vote for a sen il clown who cant finish a sentance who would destroy the country harder in half a year than anyone previously had in their whole term (which what a surprise, he did), over the best president in modern history because he had an ego, should be enough to label her as an r-word.
though these people dont seem to care too much about inflation and unemployment rate like a third world country. its almost as if they hat the US...
and she is unfledgingly completely on board the AGW cult, probably having nothing against spending tens of trillions of dollars to reduce the output of a gas that has little to no correlation with temperuate and a lot with healthy lifeforms with a couple percentage points in a few decades...
of course youcan just create said money by printing some paper notes, so no worries.
she and people like her cant engage the core lunacy positions of their cult, like the two i outlined for example. just run and hide.

I'd really enjoy hearing this Scout v Soldier paradigm synthesized/contrasted with the Is v Ought paradigm used to critique modern/enlightenment philosophers from the perspective of the ancients as made by, among others, Leo Strauss. I guess that's because Coleman is able to explain things extremely clearly and I would enjoy his (and his guest's) take on this topic which I think is quite relevant right now.

I just LOVE to listen to two Scouts - JG & CH - conversing. Beyond being educational, efficient, and effective, it's emotional; it feels good and calms me deeply. It's the kind of thing I like to listen to at night. Maybe that's because it sounds a chord of decency amid the general cacophony of daily life, reminds me that harmony between people can and does exist - and that is soothing to me, beyond bedtime stories and music. Hmm... I just imagined some excellent Scout minds I know conversing, and it can also be not pleasant at all. I guess personality also plays into it.

Truth is an idea and is 100% malleable. What was true yesterday may not be true today based on new information or even a simple 1° tweak on perspective. Facts are incontrovertible. They can be used in inaccurate or ill-informed ways maliciously or otherwise to make truth claims and that is why facts are what matter. I often take this argument when people make truth claims in their own lives. I am _____ therefore _____ is my truth. My experience was ______ so due to my experience ______ is my truth. This is all false. Your current perspective on your experiences, observations or identifiable features is what dictates your personal truth. You could change your perspective on those experiences tomorrow and that truth would change with it effortlessly. The facts of a data set done through research or your lived experiences (or whatever the topic) are the "true" foundation. The out comes derived from the data are truths or truth claims and to often confused with FACTS. That's my opinion anyway. I know I'm arguing against my self when it comes to claims about personal "truths" but I will stand behind until more people gain the proper perspective on truth vs fact.

This is interesting because you recently interviewed Noam Chomsky . . . . .who I have been listening to for many decades (and I used to admire and no longer do) and I consider him to be the exemplary archetype of precisely what Galef is warning us not to become . . . he has never modified his views or perspectives and he is clearly so profoundly ideologically driven he cannot do that. When I was much younger, I considered him to be the archetype of a critical thinker. As I matured and revised many of my views in light of evidence and critical reflection, Chomsky morphed for me into precisely the opposite, a rigid highly bias-driven uncritical thinker.

Apologies and admitting you were wrong about something, or admission of ignorance is a generally a very big no-no in professional circles.
I am a senior expert in an IT field, and it took me a while to reign in my honest nature of admitting ignorance. Just fake it until you make it. Don't ever highlight your ignorance, and pick your apologies very carefully. Idiots who know how to bullshit and pretend they know about topics are going to get faaaaaar ahead of you otherwise.

It's among the sources I try always try to keep in mind when reflecting on popular appeals.
...Amongst its merits, it starts out, as its' title suggest as a critique of some very common reactionary/conservative rhetoric, but then proceeds to reveal similar weaknesses in common rhetoric of change/progress.
... It's also quite concise, and despite it's examples being dated, the critical observations about the rhetoric seems timeless.

In complex environments where you can't simply rely on your intuition, I assume. Like forests with lots and lots of poisonous shrooms, tricky illnesses, swamps that will swallow you whole if you're not careful etc. Being reckless, naive or over-confident by being in a soldier mindset in such an environment would be your doom.
Not to mention it's virtually impossible to create technological innovations without being in a scout mindset, ie. that of a scientist, constantly falsifying his beliefs. And while innovations are more impactful on a societal level, it's certainly beneficial to the individual to have better tools than everyone else too.

Seems to me at current point in evolutionary history, it's mostly a competition between cultural driven developments and a relatively genetically evolved endowment. (Just not a lot of genetic selection effect unless we again hit some more gruesome differences for mating, breeding, or survival... )
Hard to say where modern environment, plus time, plus a more evolved consciousness, plus some random chance might lead us, but I'm all for trying to probe onward! 😇
