I agree with you but they are alike too. The clarity in both bands stands out.... The articulation, tone, power and clearness makes them so different but the same.

Tommy Lee Jr. new generation?? Boy I been a SU fan since I first saw them in 1990, but I’m a realist as well. The jukebox from 17 in comparison to 18, 18 wasn’t half as aggressive as 17 and previous years! Song selection maybe played a part in that, but they weren’t sticking the dagger in people how they been doing for the past 30+ years. They still sounded awesome, but the killer instinct they’ve always had wasn’t there, be real. Maybe it was the transition of BDs, and now that Mr. Taylor has officially been named Director, it’s back to savage mode.

@@marionmarion6852 try playing at the old pioneer bowl back in 2012. 98 degrees with no wind. My uniform was soaked through and that was supposed to be fall weather? Screw you weather man. To make matters worse it started raining towards the 5th quarter. It cooled down but that just created a bunch of humidity.

@@vivecasufan4life595 Honestly, Southern's my 2nd fav band, which is why I follow them. I ride with Southern whenever FAMU's name isn't being brought up. Though I, like others, do often wonder why much of the SWAC continues to concern themselves with woodwinds when they're rarely, if ever heard.
Both bands sounded good in my opinion 💀

They need to sit their asses down. They are a distraction. FAMU sounds great (musicianship and balance) and had the best field show without a dance team (formations/animations, dance routine). I still say they need a dance team though.... LOL

SWAC plays more aggressively than MEAC.. just different styles but I find it awesome how theres so much diversity within styles of hbcu conferences.. white schools all sound the same

Swac bands live for the stands and get killed on the field. They do the entire show sideways. Only thing swac bands do on the field is show the score. Last this shows the difference of in person and video because I know su had them watts but FAMU sounds just as loud pure shame at video but thanks for it

My two favorite bands! Both dominate their conferences, and should never be in something like a battle of the bands against each other. It is like listening to two different radio stations. One you play when you're home alone and the other when your parents visit. Two completely different sounds and styles. This was a battle of the bands, and the smooth grooves are not what we pay for in the stands. Again... My two favorites but I do not like when they put them against each other. JUKEBOX really came to battle as they always do.
I totally agree and they are my favorite 2 also.I have been following HBCU marching bands since 1977 and FAMU and S.U has always been my favorite 2.
