I am convinced that the only people complaining about safer seas are salty because they are losing their soft targets. PVP has a dedicated mode and PVE should have one too. Second, servers were always capped. So it will not mean less people, only less servers and you will not feel that at all. In fact, hopping for FOFs will make them more rare and therefore more hotely contested. It is a win/win for everyone.
we aren't salty about losing soft targets. we are salty about tucking become extinct, open crew becoming non-existent, the concept of the game becoming entirely ignored by these moronic devs, safe seas not teaching anything at all except slapping skeletons and digging chests, less friendlies, and more
@@infinitypeaches3329 Not salty? Get better at tucking, Devs invented the concept, and what it teaches is what was absent from the game when the Arena closed. Promise, the sky is not falling chicken little.
Hey I love pvp in the game but I don't go around sinking everyone I see I only fight when I get attracted. and if I wanna focus pvp I just do hour glass that's what it is for. Like you said tho there alot of people that don't see it like I do and they don't wanna go up against good crews they rather prey on the weak, me I don't mess with noone unless they target me. If all I want to do is pvp then I do hour glass sure I go against teams sometimes that sink me but he I signed up for it when I joined but I look at mistakes I made that costed me the fight and I improve that so it don't happen again. I win way more than I lose but it took a lot of time and patience to get there and there's always gonna be a cheater or a crew better than yours you just gotta keep improving.
@@infinitypeaches3329 well during the times I opened up my crew ended up with two issues, one minor and one rather big of an issue. Since you open you're crew to just about anyone- anyone can pop in, and during the time I was in an alliance with another crew, and a crew member finally popped in as we were doing a fort. I said "Please don't attack our alliance members" and what did they do? They proceed to hop onto their ship, unanchor, and aim straight into a rock, and instantly a skele gallion spawned on my alliance's ship- We were lucky no one sank and by the time it rammed into the rock the dude instantly left. Another but more minor issue is general unwilling cooperation- just recently got my captiained gallion, dude offers gold hoarders vault so I decided to want to raise the flag but the dude was insisting to leave right away and not raise the flag- even though it would give us a nice bonus. Dude straight up went to fishing to entirely ignore me, so I just straight up left and stuck to my sloop closed crew of one till I have my friends willing to play.
People have said over and over again that “the next update will kill the game” I’ve been here since day one, this isn’t going to kill it. But, the community might be split up with safer seas. If anything safer seas might bring in new players but lose some veteran players.
im someone who played at launch and comes back every now and then the thing all my friends and me always wished for is safer seas becuse theres no fun in getting wrecked by swetty tryhards for 5 hours streight
its already about dead now especially for Vet players like my self we have done everything in the game a million times got pvp curses some have gold there's literally nothing left, and season 10 adds guilds and one new PVP Voyage and probably some new cosmetics to buy earn or unlock guilds do nothing for gameplay, and the voyage after we do that a few times it will be back to what it is now, boring and dull, the game is dying because lack of content that's why the devs are more focused on new players getting people into the game so it stays alive with safer sea's meanwhile older players are left behind with nothing. I Guess they cant make content to make everyone happy so they chose to Cader to new players they don't need more content they have all they need for now.
Starting to get back into sea of thieves after a couple years off. My kids want to play but when I was getting my wife into it we were killed over and over by bigger better crews. It wasn’t fun to pick up 3 chests and get sunk immediately. When I would play with friends we had a blast getting into fights and exploring but some people don’t like having to fight to keep ahold of a marauders chest. I have been killed over and over on tall tales after letting people know what I’m doing. My kids wouldn’t enjoy that. I get that it’s part of the game, but a game isn’t kept alive by hardcore players. It’s kept alive by people getting off of work who want a fun looking ship so they buy skins. It’s kept alive by people who get 2-3 hours to hop on and do some quests and hop off. Casual players make up the largest part of gaming. If you only cater to the hardcore you’ll end up like Diablo 4. 97% player loss scrambling to stay afloat. Hate me all you want, but when I get my kids on the seas it will be on safer seas until I feel like they can handle a real fight. We’ll be in open servers before too long.
The game is 13 plus, so this comment is inherently retarded, it also isnt the people who get on 2-3 hours and jerk off at one side of the map doing a quest that keep the game alive, because they dont interact with anyone and run all the time. The real reason the game is being tailored for kids and drunk 35 year olds, is because they make the most money, buying 10 dollar garbage in the pirate emporium. Its also dumb to complain about getting ur shit stolen in a pirate game, you cant make a multiplayer game and have everyone be jack sparrow and have plot armor, because u need people to steal from to be a pirate (irl people didnt love pirates because didnt get robbed and killed if they asked politely, irl people hated them because they were fucking theives.
Diablo 4 died catering to the casual players not the hardcore they have no end game so once your level 50 your really done so try again with that statement. But I do agree that new people don't wanna get ripped apart there first day on while there still getting use to it
I play pvp a lot 1300 hours exact but I won't sink new players unless they engage me people try to lie and say there new to back stab but just looking at how they act and cosmetics they have tell that story. Keep in mind if you fire on another player and get sunk don't cry about it
@@davidfrazier6308 when I’m on a tall tale it’s canons pointed up and I let people know what I’m doing. The way you behave is on you and isn’t how the player base as a whole plays. I appreciate the people who will respect a tall tale and leave the ship alone, but the fact is that there are plenty of people who don’t care. End of the day it’s a PvP game at the moment and people are going to PvP. Not my place to tell people how to play as long as it’s within the ToS.
Another thing people don't get is saying "it's just a game bro" doesn't excuse toxic or immoral behavior. I don't spend my day to day life hanging out with junkies, thieves and liars so why would I tolerate that caliber of human online? Too many people forget about sportsmanship when spouting the "it's just a game" justification.
it's insane how this game formula is an absolute gold mine and all they have to do is provide the right world to experience it in and they can't get it right ever. this game has so much potential locked behind the doors of moron marketing execs
In areas of intense action, players may find themselves firing shots or landing strikes that do not cause damage to their targets. While small improvements continue to be delivered during our regular updates, we are continuing to investigate and identify further improvements to the player combat experience.
Literally been seeing that in the notes for years. Stopped playing over a year ago lmao. Only fixes that need to happen are hitreg and server stability. And hot take, kill double gunning. Sword and 1 gun god damnit.
A ton of my friends and family have played over the years, and all absolutely loved the game. But we've all left due to various reasons - mostly because of pvp griefing. My little cousins had the worst of it. They used to just want to do X Marks The Spot adventures and they'd end up in tears by the end of it, because Reapers would just stalk them and destroy the ship and let their treasure sink because it was funny. And then they'd get taunted over voice chat by grown adults just being rude to children. Their mother had had a small stroke, and only has partial control of one hand, so she's not good at the combat at all, but likes to join her kids at playing. The four of them would be sunk over and over again. My personal crew ran into cheaters all the time. My brother's crew could only play a few hours every couple days, and took forever to get pirate legend status because there were multiple days where they'd log on, and be harassed for the entire time - even going as far as to server hop to get away. Like I said, we all loved the game, but the pvp was just too much for all of us. We weren't good enough to hold our own and took our L's as best we could. But it eventually spoiled the fun of the game and we all left after a while. I know Safer Seas is upsetting a bunch of the player base, but I know about 2-3 dozen folks in my immediate circle who are ecstatic for this update and are already making plans to take a few days off work so they can play with their kids and friends once the Safer Seas update hits. We're all super excited to be able to play the game at our own pace and really looking forward to it.
1: wdym let the treasure sink because it was funny? how did you know they did it ''because it was funny''? did your cousins have an emissary?. 2: if that mother and her kids had loot or an emissary, it was justified. if they don't want to be sunk, they should watch guides on pvp or run away. 3: how were they cheaters? were they just good at the game or did they do things like dropping kegs on you from the air?. 4: harassed in what way? getting sunk or actually being harassed?
@@infinitypeaches3329 Dude im very good at PVP and SOT Has alot of very toxic players i've had them attack me while being very toxic even after i would sink them with my crew they was still super toxic cussing me and all kinds of stuff. do you not play much not everyone is like that on SOT but there alot that are.
i just find it funny how they called it a “super season” even thought this could arguably be one of the most disappointing updates especially after a 7 MONTH season… wtf. and we don’t even get all the content at once. we have to wait till november just to get the best part of the update. the skull of siren song. which isn’t all that great because a shared competitive voyage like the skull of siren song is something we’ve been asking for forever and now they FINALLY decide to add it. but it’s just a reskin of the ashen winds skull…The only thing that is redeeming about the skull of siren song is that it slows down your ship. but that won’t matter because after everyone is done with its commendations nobody is gonna care about getting the skull. unless it sells for a ton. but i doubt that heavily. also have to wait till december just for safer seas? why not just release that at the beginning of the season? it’s not like it’s something super exciting. it’s such a tiny feature that it could’ve just released alongside a quality of life update.. i’m dumbfounded how they can hype this up so much but it’s literally the most uninteresting and disappointing update to see after 7 MONTHS. nah we didn’t need a new world event, new region, a reason to go back to the devils roar, or cool voyage like LOTV.. we needed colored rowboats.. 😀 and.. guilds don’t add jack anything.. i mean it’s not bad.. but i think i can speak for everyone when i say guilds is not what we want or needed. it’s just another captaincy type update.. The only thing that excites me for guilds is creating an iconic unique name for my guild.. something that other players will recognize. after 7 months i was hoping for an actual super season.. not whatever this is. me personally i was expecting at least 2 seasons worth of content in season 10. i’m just hoping that these aren’t the only headline features and they are holding back more. 🙏🏽
hey just think cheaters will be all over those legit players when the sirens song voyage releases man imagine getting double teamed by cheaters man that's going to suck.
I still don't understand why we don't get another player-activated world event, new types of loot, new mechanics or an update to hourglass. Imagine the pvp world event was ACTUALLY more of a pvp world event. The way it is now it's just a very boring voyage except people see where you are at the last stage of it. It's just legend of the veil. Fotd is still by FAR the best world event. What if they just gave us a new type of skull that can be used for a new fotd and added an extra shrine meant for offerings. Bamm! Better fotd with the best loot you can get. It has a new type of skelly and a lot of different waves. It takes about 45 minutes to complete and at the end you need to bring the key somewhere else to get the loot. Maybe the key slows down your boat a bit? They coulf add some new loot and commendations surrounding that event with some sick cosmetics. Maybe some new commendations and cosmetics could be added in general. Hourglass now allows for in-guild ffa fights and essentially makes tdming and hosting tourmaments a whole lot easier. Also a 2v2 and 3v3 guild v guild mode is added. Keg rowboats are back and you can now headshot people with the sniper or something idfk. Hitreg is GREATLY improved, movement is less buggy and microsoft provides rare with better servers and now everyone has better ping. The game is optimised more for better fps and you can now use up to 110 fov. Would be a much better season imo. You could introduce safer seas later, that should've been really easy to develop anyway and honestly it's kinda shameful they're promoting it as this big feature. Also they admit that colored rowboats are not new and actually existed in arena, which could also come back with hostable servers and custom rulesets as an alternative for the hourglass update. Or they could actually ask the community as to what they really want to see in game.
Cus the community largely has been asking for PVE, tall tales, and the removal of all skill from PVP. And this idea would work if rare didnt cut servers to only be 16 players max. The reason people feel the game was more active back then, is because despite having less things to do, there were like 6 or 7 boats per server instead of 3 (even tho player max is 16 the servers spread players so that the servers dont lag as much. The game will only get laggier and worse every single update (like it has) because rare would have to spend alot of money getting better servers and hiring more people to handle the code, for basically no profit, especially when a shitty colab with some brainrot content gets 20k more downloads every time they release.
They could do more world events from existing content, like unsinkable skelly gally, and you gotta defeat waves at the ship to get the key to the ship's treasury room
Downloaded this game last night, haven’t played it for about three years, was wondering around the starting island trying to relearn the controls when 2 pirates came out of nowhere shouted something into there mic which I couldn’t hear because it sounded muffled and then killed me 🤷🏻♂️? I’ll come back in December!
I still remember when a monthly update back in 2020 had more content than the so called “super-season” which has close to 0 content. The PVP voyage is the only fun thing mentioned in the new season. Guilds will basically do nothing, nobody really cares to sail on others ship, and why would we? Safer seas is okay, but it’s still the same content, it’s not something new. If that’s all that they’ve prepared for the rest of the year, it is really disappointing.
@@Mqgical "nothing to do back then". Let me remind you a bit: in April-May 2020 they introduced the Emissary system, June-July had the Flameheart Ghost Ship World Event, July-August introduced the Ashen Winds World Event. These were huge updates compared to what they are releasing now through their "Seasons" system.
@@Mqgical 2020 added: emissaries, flameheart event, ashen event, ancient vaults, chest of rage, legends of the sea commendations, heart of fire tall tale, and some events. how is that nothing?
I think new players needs the safer seas to get used and learn more things about the game, i have 10 hours gameplay time in my record at the moment, and whenever i do a solo session, there's always one crew ship that's always pvp-ing, 1 time i got boarded without any peace talks, killed me and spawned killed me for 20 mins straight, not letting my ship sink the whole duration, in the end i just decided to alt + f4. Sea of thieves is a fun game that i look forward on playing 💖
The skull of siren song will give a temporary boost. Players will sell their 30 or 50 skulls, get the commendation, and not really look at it again. Same reason why the FOF goes uncontested often today. As a veteran player, there's just not enough for me to do to keep interest. We need different world events.
Guilds may be a neat addition but does pretty much nothing for player interaction the game. Safer Seas may 'split' the community as you said but will bring back people who were too afraid of PvP to play comfortably and learn the game. In the end, if they get invested, they'll have to hop into normal servers if they wanna reach the meat of the game. The only loss is players having less novices to stomp on overall. I'd say the game's dying because there's no new mechanics or content to do in the overworld. Tell Tales are neat and all but I think they take too much work for what they bring to the table in the long run: you do them once or twice for comms and that's it. It's not mainstay content, which would be fine if there wasn't a content drought rn. The replayability of the game in that regard comes mostly from player interaction, and if they don't focus on it, the game will keep getting emptier with only the hardcore players wandering around.
I kind of like the idea of a private server when you can do things with your friends that don't know much about the game and then you got ass hats that just want to f*** your day up so I think it's a good idea but the loot should not be deleted in half it should still be the same cuz you still have the same amount of time to float all over the map so if you guys want to make it more interesting make it worthwhile
Guilds SHOULD make it easier to group up, but it doesnt sound like thats the direction its going. It sounds like its similar to an alliance except it spans across servers.... big whoop.
Regardless of your opinion on Season 10, the main reason the servers are dead right now is that nothing has been added for a year. Monkey Island added nothing to the sandbox. People hopped into the tall tale portal, finished the tall tale and then logged off till the next one came out months later. If Rare don't add, improve or change anything to the game itself, then the player numbers will continue to plummet. Season 10 finally releasing will bump player numbers, but the game will die if Season 11 gets delayed for another year... In my opinion, private servers won't help the situation either.
what there adding in season 10 isn't much not for gameplay at least 7 months for what we are getting isn't really good safer sea's for new players is but vet players that's been around awhile get one mode, that's not going to tie anyone over for another 5 to 7 months. if your a new you got a lot to do. but if you have done everything a thousand times your out of luck when you do the new voyage a few time's and its back to square one.
I for one think safer sea will help keep a lot players because those like me who maxed out on everything that literally just play to vibe with friends and goof off won’t have to deal with lame sweats who just bore us plus it forces sweat to be in lobbies with other sweats so they have fair fight
its pretty obvious, retards have been asking for the anti-pvp update since launch, and everyone cries about every feature saying its to OP until they turn pvp into spamming m1. Its not all the shitty community that mostly use the game as VR chat for pirates, rare also has like 2 devs and 198 wokeness warriors so no updates or cosmetics (not resprayed pirate emporium shit) get released. Rare basically listens to the wide opinion ("fighting is unfair, i want to be a pirate that doesnt steal from others (its mean)") no one can blame them for trying to make money. Its a company, its the community's fault that people actually loved brainrot content like pirate's life, or monkey island (sit and spam m1 for 7 hours, then listen to the funny disney dude talk, then do some super hard parkour (pressing spacebar) and then repeat) so they just rince and repeat the same dogshit so that the trailer makes 10K more people download the game.
Idk what you mean. They’re focus the last 5 years has literally always been what the player-base wants. People wanted more engaging in game content and PvE servers. That is EXACTLY what we are getting
Guilds the way it sounds so far sucks.. You aren't even able to play with other guild mates on the same server with multiple ships? No dueling? Guild vs Guild? or guild cove/hangout/server? It is basically just a spreadsheet with some cosmetics tied to it... It would be so nice to have the option to 1v1 with a friend Or have a location to see everyone in the guild could easily work on safer seas. So many missed opportunities! 😭
yeah im struggling to even boot up the game because i know its just gonna be the same thing ive been doing for the past 7 months and some guilds with new cosmetics and a new pvp voyage and thats it might aswell just carve a tombstone already.
For me, it was Hourglass that killed SoT for me. Oh cool! The ghost and skeleton curses are finally coming to SoT! Oh what's that? It's PvP only? Oh.... It's incredibly grindy too unless you win multiple games in a row? Oh.... It's filled with sweats who already have curses? Oh.... The matchmaking takes forever? Oh....
If SoT is dying, it's due to the community and developers closing their eyes to the rampant griefing in their main mode. Yeah, it's not Sea of Friends, but seriously, maybe 1 out of 10 interactions is "friendly" as in not shoot on sight. Meanwhile, they have all those amazing locations, e.g. Port Merrick with it's huge tavern, which lay abandoned because 80% of the player base can't be arsed to NOT be hostile to others. If it took them this long to figure this out, maybe the game deserves to die, and I say that as someone who absolutely loves the game (but hates the rotten community).
@ so you consider players minding their own business a valid target? Pirating a ship to contest loot makes sense, but a ship with no loot and minding their own business? you don't just punch random people on the sidewalk minding their own business do you? have some common sense, it is Sea of THIEVES but not everyone enjoy getting chased down for 1 to 5 hours because their ship comes slightly too close to your ship, you can THIEVE anything, not just the player

@@Blackstag-jq7jx Except no, there's PURPOSEDLY no safe space in the shared world. And doing tall tales is no longer a valid excuse since old TTs got checkpoints and new TTs take place in a separate worlds.
before i watch the video my first impression is that the steam charts dont really mean anything since the game was originally hosted through xbox. im a pc player but dont own it on steam because around whenever it launched it was xbox only/game pass and i got it through that. there are tons of people playing through that & afaik steam was only a recent platform

It's 3+ years on Steam. I know a lot ppl who got both, MS and Steam, and prefer Steam. Me too. The Steam charts are showing a trend, not absolute numbers.
Safer seas arent enough. They should make fully developed pve servers and fully developed pvp servers. They should abandon the "spirit of the game" and make every play style available to everybody. Otherwise, this game will die. OR...they could actually develop and release real content instead of reskinning shit we already have. Maybe mutiny is in order. A change of leadership might be a good idea.
Rare has so much dead weight on their team; their stubbornness, laziness and incompetence is killing their game. Imagine still trying to force people to like PvP in 2023 when literally 95% of the updates have been PvE oriented. Dumbest studio in existence.
I was hoping to see some updates to Hourglass that made it less grindy and the curses more accessable to those who don't like PvP. Instead it seems it's dead, and anyone who wants to get the curses will now suffer even longer que times than before.
@@Clown_the_ClownWhen I stopped playing, my crew and I would get matched in Hourglass with the literal 5 time Arena World Champs over and over again because it was so dead. We weren’t slouches by any means, we got our curses, but how the hell can you compete with people who have a collective 15,000 hours played on SoT? All I cared about was the PvP but god Hourglass needs some kind of lifeline, I wanna fight different crews.
Considering we dont have a counter for the real playerbase, as most of people, me included, have the game way before it was in steam, and i keep seeing the same pirates on discord server dedicated only for spanish talking people, i dont think is dying at all, i do think most of the new people, dont want pvp, and that will take a toll on players that like just pvp
Siren skull? If a brig or galeón has the skull, who can challenge them? Another galeón or brig? I AM a solo slooper SO that means if i go i Will get wreck. So, You can have the skull, i don't care. Does anyone Will care for a skull that makes You slower?
When new users enter the game, it is repeated that all the treasures are lost to skilled players and they leave the game. Of course, there are players who have overcome this and become more confident, but they are only a few and are not numbers that will affect the developer's profits. And this game is a looting genre, so there is no problem for skilled people. But the reality of game business is different. It is true that the number of game defectors is increasing and the business is on the way to collapse as a result. Often SOT is their own league game.Players who actually pay for this game are PVE players. PVE players leave the game because of skilled people. PVP players leave the game because of cheat users. PVEVP players leave the game due to lack of content. SOT couldn't hold hands with anyone. And the SOT company's operations are too concentrated in the West. The operation is too passive for Asian countries. The current SOT situation is also a result of its operation.
I think that they will spiral this game into the ground, until they understand that the majority of players are progression focused (not their current player base but overall). I have not seen a single game that had long term success with a 0 progression system. The 'fair' and 'equal' playing ground is exactly what kills GW2 and FF14 solo PVP. Most people won't put their valuable time into a game for cosmetics and titles, they do to make their charackter/weapons more powerfull. I started playing this game like a week ago and although I am having alot of fun, I keep quiting after like an hour asking myself what I am actually playing for. This indefinite term of experience progression is from my experince something that the large majority can't identify with. This only works in round based MOBA games.
I feel like a lot of people here complaining about cheating and hitreg, or the devs not caring about the community are too lazy to actually watch what the devs are saying. Watch their podcasts, they update us on what they're doing to solve issues and how they plan to respond to player needs - captaincy was one of the first big deliveries on something we've wanted for years, and guilds will be an expansion on that. As for anticheat and hitreg, watch their latest video. For those that have, why are you only mentioning them nerfing double-gunning? Have you ever been on the recieving end of double-gunning? It's frustrating, understandably. And a significant amount of the playerbase have been complaining about it passively. Leave the devs alone, they're much more open than any other devs I've seen working on large-scale games like SOT.
The private servers should be good. I would imagine it would be terribly frustrating if you are playing the stories and you encounter cheating/hacking players that ruin your experience progressing through that story. I feel like if Rare managed to totally eliminate cheating maybe you wouldn't need Safer Seas. Maybe. I can recall times doing Tall Tales and encountering other players and either a single skirmish ensued or they actually left us alone once knowing we were doing Tall Tales. Cheaters aren't cheating to just leave people be. I think a near full mitigation of cheating is probably the only thing that can save this game. Guilds won't do it. Private servers I think might get people who bought the game and quit due to PVP to come back but I also don't see it being a full save. And I don't see guilds doing much of anything. Why would I play the game to grant benefits to someone else's captained ship. You mention guilds could be a good building block and I agree there is potential but as is Season 10 looks pretty dismal and Rare needed phenomenal.
I think a lot of people are being too pessimistic about Season 10. I get that Rare added something they promised they wouldn't, and people are upset about that. I'm not happy about it either. But I say we at least give the season a chance before complaining even more. If it sucks, we can go on whining, but if it's a success, the game will be more fun.
I think safer seas will be shit for reasons people aren't talking about. Everyone who is asking for PvE servers is doing so because they don't like PvP and or they just want to play a good pirate game cause who doesn't love pirates? Sea of Thieves is the only actual pirate game right now until Skull & Bones comes out. What'll happen is people will try safer seas and still quit because everything is too restricted. It will not save the game in any way. The player base will increase for a short amount of time while people try it out and inevitably die back down. Personally I think all those PvE players will just move to Skull & Bones because PvP isn't mandatory in that game and Ubisoft has much more resources to improve their games compared to Rare.
I think an actual functioning tutorial that teachers you how to play the game along with a trainer mode for learning how to hit your shots with the cannons would help new players out way more than a private server. All safer seas will do I fear is create bad habits for new players like anchoring and not checking your horizon.
For me it has already decided it, here are my arguments: 1. Guilds are usless for me, none of my friends play this game anymore. 2. As a solo player skull of siren song is gonna be imposible, and I dont really care about it. 3. I dont have any interest on safer seas as a veteran player who casually plays the game. For what they've shown on the stream its a godbye to SOT for me
Safer seas isn't going to change literally anything after 1 or 2 weeks, there's still going to be very very bad players on the high seas because they'll want to get pirate legend. Safer seas is essentially just an extra tutorial. FOFs are also absolutely useless again since the chest of fortune isn't even in the fort of FORTUNE anymore but in the fort of the damned. There's absolutely no point to do a FOF except for the misc athena loot that doesn't even sell for much, or the funny green kegs. This season was the biggest flop that took 7 months to produce. Where one feature will rarely be used but still caused the most controversy, the other is literally just Captaincy with extra steps where you can do everything you already have done in the game with a slightly better way to see if someone else is online which you could just easily use if you were in a discord. We're essentially just seeing 2 "Major features" that give us no new content, with the only content we get is remaking the arena gamemode to put into the high seas except you get a special effect if you have the thing you need to turn in. They've also removed the skill gap in double gunning.. By adding a bigger skill gap in double gunning where you now need to either quick swap TWICE or use a bucket, or Shoot, stand there like an idiot because GOD FORBID you sprint before you shoot a second time. Meanwhile you can still quick switch to and from a sword when it gets a major buff. This season also implements improved hitreg, where "9 of 10 shots will hit" even though its even worse than season 9's hitreg. If that wasn't enough for you, it literally is impossible to shoot out of a cannon at a certain angle otherwise you'll just fall into the ocean and not get launched at all. So chasing that reaper 5 brigantine that definitely should know how to play the game with their 500 hours but are too scared to even try to fight is going to be even worse. TL;DR This season is going to be the absolute biggest flop despite their 7 months of hard work. We're getting less content than overwatch 2.
Most of them dont. The only ones that will will be fishing (which good, no one wants to fish for 5 hours then get sunk) And the 3 OG factions. Which are not hard, and can be done while just enjoying rhe game casually. Its fair that Reapers and Athena and captained boats progress can all only be done in High Seas
@@divad6202 they mean something for the people who grinded for them with the looming threat of other ships on the horizon. Your saying new players shouldnt have to work as hard for commendations?
people are so weird to be hating safer seas, i'll never play it since I'm more pvp oriented but simultaneously I've run across fathers playing with their sons that I was mid attacking and s/t like that. Kids and their parents bonding don't need to be faced with the absolute cringe that is other pvpers at times. seas won't split the community because all of the impossibly bad pvp players have stopped playing the game altogether lmao at least now theyll have the trial run to see if they want to come to learn pvp after doing all their tall tales/events.
SOT Needs all of these features the Guilds will bring a sense of community back, The Siren skull is a great way to link different crews too one activity and the Safer seas is great for new players but the one thing I would like to see in SOT is a custom server one where the host can change modifiers and settings and invite players to your server, but not to your ship so you can set up custom PVP activities and experiment and with the modifiers it would include gold, BUT not to your main pirate What I mean by that is so you can earn gold in That server and buy different outfits, ship cosmetics and all the rest to experiment with what you like and want to earn on your main pirate

people out here acting like windows 10, gamepass, and the xbox dont exist, which are by far where most of the playerbase is, not to mention the massive deal with disney, this game has to have a massive player count and is making bank, which it is, almost 400k on average daily, yall out here going "its gonna die if we dont get *insert thing*" know nothing about the game
the game's been averaging over 240k concurrent players at most times during the day. how many different players that is i'll let you decide. it's quite healthy.
This is false lol that's why the game feels so dead run around a server for hours and not see one ship and steam charts show max players is 8,000 at peak around 3,000 at night there's not 200,000 plus

Guilds: do nothing new, Safer seas: makes server even more empty, new world event: will get ruined by sweats and cheaters which leads to more people going to safer seas.
Servers are not populated with every player at the time, its 5 (or 6) ships a server, with most pve players out servers will feel more alive actually, cause you know people there have at least a bit of something to prove

The community weekend was some of the most fun we've had playing this game in a very long time. The state of the game isn't bad when looking at it over a few weeks. I understand that there's been a content drought but the content that is in the game at the moment has been really good in quality.
Im a pvpler myself but i never, ever.. in no game, understood, why ppl are forced for pvp. It should be a choice. Not a feature. Where is the problem when ppl just want pve?
@@Slugster_ most commendations will be possible except: - hourglass factions for obvious reasons - athena and reapers(fof and fotd won't be possible on safer seas + you cannot level them up, nor reach pirate legend there)(though veil might be possible to do, but without rep gain i think, so what would be the point if you can earn bonus money and rep? And ever since it got added i have been attacked by other crews maybe twice) - skull of siren song will be banned from safer seas too(because why would they introduce pvp oriented voyage to pve server?)
It's gonna die.. All the swabbies are gonna be in safer seas and the sweats are gonna kill each other so much they'll get bored becuase there's no swabbies anymore.. I hate to to see this game commit suicide
the skull of siren voyage is gonna be good for maybe a couple months at most just like chest of fortune, guilds are cool but wont do anything for the pop of the game, and safer seas is implemented at the wrong time, whelp quit while u can u are absolutely wasting ur life playing this game
Safer seas is the beginning of the end for the game. Lots of players will just stay there and if they spend money in the emporium then more and more things will be moved there to cater for them. Eventually it will be a full pve option and the main game will end up like the arena.
Im sorry but that is literally the worst take i have seen yet from all the delusional players. Its literally only there for new players learning the game. It not going to have the full experience. I can say with full certainty, as a person rooting for this addition, i will never touch it other than fishing commendations. Its a thing that i wont use, but wish i could have when i started playing. Plus with a 70% decrease of rewards it will be a slog for anyone trying to progress and they won't reach pirate legend. Im still cautiously optimistic because Rare has been known to fuck up sometimes, but don't go saying "this is shit, its never going to work." We literally have zero idea how it will actually effect the game until its implemented. That is the mindset that kills games, not the updates. If we keep dogging on the devs for stuff that hasn't even been added yet, then why should they update the game at all? The could literally just leave it to rot. Im not saying the game doesnt have issues, it has fucking plenty, but at least give the devs a shot at making this work. If they listen to the community on some decisions for safer seas (like the removal of world events except basic forts) then im 100% sure it will be fine, and if its not then come back in like 6 months to call me and idiot and i will respond that i was one.
@@sSteppingStones To a new player, pirate legend is their goal, and also you just proved my point. If skill is the way for someone to progress then they won’t want to stay in safer seas, especially when theres going to be less to do.
@@zaggyzombie I think safer seas is a reply for those tired of the Comunity not having a pvp-free zone for casuals. Comunity could have avoid this if they defined noob crews with either a specific Flag or Sail. But people like the original poster had to be toxic enough to get this added 🤣
First time watcher here, and soon to be new player, my question for you is just how rampant is the cheating nowadays? I understand that assholes will spawn camp and grief me daily, but how often are those assholes cheating- allowing me no chance to get better and possibly get revenge??? I’m positive I’ll get pissed off and quit the game many many times, but the option to ‘git gud’ is always there….. except when playing against a disgusting cheating asshole
Despite what a lot of people say, you wont come across them too often, about the same as any other sandbox game really, the issue is the *potential* cheaters, since there is little to no anticheat. 740hrs in and ive come across 4 cheaters total, luckily they were all at very non crucial moments. If it helps, they suck most of the time anyway, keg spawners usually kill themself and fail to kill you, ESP users are so tunnel visionned of stopping your board they forget they have other tasks, and aimbotters miss half the time anyway because its really only useful on one weapon (Rifle) since blunder is a shotgun, and Pistol needs a good second or two of tracing if its a longer distance. Dont let cheaters sway you man, i promise the games worth it lol
Do you play on Xbox? If so turn on Xbox only servers and u will be good to go. While your new, stay away from the sot community (most of us are mad about season 10 we don’t wanna ruin the game 4 u). Just have fun for now there is a lot to do
It just needs commandations to be 3x harder And to let you have a fully custom server where you can host TDMs and Arena like games. In return, you will earn NO progresion at all. then TDMers like me dont have to camp little timmy doing his gold vault
@@GloopWizard I'm pretty sure it is just quick swap that is going. But especially if they removed DG all together sword will need some changes to make it take a bit of skill In fact, It already does!

Meh I gave up on the game long ago. Too many toxic griefers so really no point to play it. Like maybe if they actually institute things like ranking caps. Making it impossible for sweats to farm newer player or players attack other players within a set amount of rank. Literally no reason for pirate legends to farm new players.

They proceed to hop onto their ship, unanchor, and aim straight into a rock, and instantly a skele gallion spawned on my alliance's ship-
We were lucky no one sank and by the time it rammed into the rock the dude instantly left.

Its probably because they keep listening to the community too much tbh
In areas of intense action, players may find themselves firing shots or landing strikes that do not cause damage to their targets. While small improvements continue to be delivered during our regular updates, we are continuing to investigate and identify further improvements to the player combat experience.

4: harassed in what way? getting sunk or actually being harassed?

i just find it funny how they called it a “super season” even thought this could arguably be one of the most disappointing updates especially after a 7 MONTH season… wtf.
and we don’t even get all the content at once.
we have to wait till november just to get the best part of the update. the skull of siren song.
which isn’t all that great because a shared competitive voyage like the skull of siren song is something we’ve been asking for forever and now they FINALLY decide to add it. but it’s just a reskin of the ashen winds skull…The only thing that is redeeming about the skull of siren song is that it slows down your ship. but that won’t matter because after everyone is done with its commendations nobody is gonna care about getting the skull. unless it sells for a ton. but i doubt that heavily.
also have to wait till december just for safer seas? why not just release that at the beginning of the season? it’s not like it’s something super exciting. it’s such a tiny feature that it could’ve just released alongside a quality of life update..
i’m dumbfounded how they can hype this up so much but it’s literally the most uninteresting and disappointing update to see after 7 MONTHS.
nah we didn’t need a new world event, new region, a reason to go back to the devils roar, or cool voyage like LOTV..
we needed colored rowboats.. 😀
and.. guilds don’t add jack anything.. i mean it’s not bad.. but i think i can speak for everyone when i say guilds is not what we want or needed. it’s just another captaincy type update..
December is milking the Emporium Time, The last effort by rare to cash in some easy money
hey just think cheaters will be all over those legit players when the sirens song voyage releases man imagine getting double teamed by cheaters man that's going to suck.
See these are all good ideas which is why they won't be added
I wish all that stuff was in the game.
There was literally nothing to do back then as well lol
Yeah and hitreg was somehow better. Remember when we were getting heart of fire size updates? Miss those days
Sea of thieves is a fun game that i look forward on playing 💖
what are you going to learn on pve servers? slapping skeletons? raising the anchor?
I for one think safer sea will help keep a lot players because those like me who maxed out on everything that literally just play to vibe with friends and goof off won’t have to deal with lame sweats who just bore us plus it forces sweat to be in lobbies with other sweats so they have fair fight
how can they be so blind to what we want? i just dont get it

@@Offendedinternetyeah exactly! How DARE we want content they work so hard on those rowboats
its pretty obvious, retards have been asking for the anti-pvp update since launch, and everyone cries about every feature saying its to OP until they turn pvp into spamming m1.
that's a idea instead of arena Guild Wars. Two guild's fighting each other like arena but different.
If season ten is just what they had shown... yes, the game is gone
yeah im struggling to even boot up the game because i know its just gonna be the same thing ive been doing for the past 7 months and some guilds with new cosmetics and a new pvp voyage and thats it might aswell just carve a tombstone already.

Pirating in a pirate game is "griefing"? 😂
Being a pirate is being a good friendly guy? Dude, you are delusional af, take off your tinfoil hat plz
@ When there's nothing to pirate, e.g. because a player is doing tall tales, yes.
Just add PvP stuff and new water animal stuff that isn’t boring like the Meg that just follows u around and does one attack
Nice video. I hope she’s of thieves stays around forever, I’ve always loved the game.
@@SoTStuff forcing people to like pvp? when have they ever done that?
Ever since they stopped updating hourglass I've been yearning for arena to return

No season 10 will be flop.. I wonder what will they do against the hackers and how fast will season 11 come.
They should save server so you don’t get no online players
Iam not coming back till we have full pve servers not a discount one
If they nerf double gunning I'll just never play again. Not that I play right now but still the concept of it is ridiculous
Thank you.
they have announced everything that is coming to season 10, and it sucks
Bro, we just need the Ice Region and the thing is over...
ice region can come after we get hitreg/backtracking/cheating fixes, rare changing their mind on adding pve servers, and other stuff
i am probably not starting again 🤷🏼♂️
Best way to counter cheaters is to play on xbox
All safer seas will do I fear is create bad habits for new players like anchoring and not checking your horizon.
poop take... also please make a Faygo Sausage for the Juggalos
2:31
Or it won't. It will. But rarely. Absolutely rarely.
For me it has already decided it, here are my arguments:
1. Guilds are usless for me, none of my friends play this game anymore.
2. As a solo player skull of siren song is gonna be imposible, and I dont really care about it.
3. I dont have any interest on safer seas as a veteran player who casually plays the game.
For what they've shown on the stream its a godbye to SOT for me
See you in two months
Safer seas should also not have commendations and cosmetics transfer over to high seas or they mean nothing
They mean nothing. They never meant anything.
Most of them dont. The only ones that will will be fishing (which good, no one wants to fish for 5 hours then get sunk)
And the 3 OG factions. Which are not hard, and can be done while just enjoying rhe game casually.
Its fair that Reapers and Athena and captained boats progress can all only be done in High Seas

Season 10 isnt their miracle its the nail in the coffin
the skull of siren voyage is gonna be good for maybe a couple months at most just like chest of fortune, guilds are cool but wont do anything for the pop of the game, and safer seas is implemented at the wrong time, whelp quit while u can u are absolutely wasting ur life playing this game

Just have fun for now there is a lot to do
I have seen no cheaters at all out of 3 years of playing, they seem to only exist in hourglass
It just needs commandations to be 3x harder
