What a talent, back in the 60s and 70s my weekend was not complete without seeing Mike Yarwood on the TV, belly aching funny!
    Thank you Mike and RIP

    RIP Mike Yarwood🙏🙏🙏
A true ‘icon’ of light entertainment from the 70’s and 80’s when both the BBC and and ITV were at the ‘top of their game’
    Sadly not now👎
As a kid growing up in the 70’s all through the week you were spoilt for choice of TV shows but it was Saturday nights that were the best
I do remember that Mike had struggled with his mental health -he was nervous about doing LIVE shows
He was living at Brinsworth House for some years I think
I remember he was the first to take on HM THE KING when he was Prince Charles

There were some superb impressions that he could have done more often. George Burns; Ronald Reagan; Jimmy Carter; Dave Allen and Tony Hancock. He ciuld have stopped impersonating politicians that he did so often. He had ninety in his repertoire. Still, he was a master and no impressionist could look remarkably like the person he was impersonating. Vocally, John Colshaw is more brilliant vocally, but cannot equal Mike in expressions and body movement. His was gentle parody and not the harsh satire of today. I have his DVDs and thoroughly enjoy them.

David Whyberd Very much in agreement about Yarwood's facial expressions and physicality - Unmatched.

Really strange to think everyone here is dead including all the people being impersonated save Michael Crawford. Wish I could go back.

Maybe the comedy is of it's time, however look at the people - they are ALL slim !

Janet Brown, brilliant as Margaret Thatcher as ever - patronising to a fault.

If you close your eyes when Mike is doing his Frank Spencer, you wouldn't have a clue who he was impersonating!! Terrible impression, but Frank was so popular back in the day, Mile had to attempt it.. Also, he shouldn't sing either... but lots of his impressions are actually pretty close

No, I disagree a bit. Frank is not done too badly here, and the face and mannerisms are very good...
