Here’s an easy way to tell that works 90% of the time, Civilian Explorers Have Roof Racks, Police Explorers don’t, you can even look it up, and I hope after learning this, you can all ride a little less stressful now. I know I can, I’m a car guy, but no matter what we’re riding, we all get stressed out seeing an unmarked vehicle lol. Hope this helps everyone. See ya.
Civilian explorers also can not have roof racks it's optional but the best way to tell if it's a cop or not is to look at the front grill if u see two lights or not
You know it’s only a couple screws to remove the roof rack and some people don’t like them. It’s definitely not a smart way to tell. Always look for extra lights that shouldn’t be there.

The bolts mounting the rails lead straight to the headliner. You can spec it without a roof rack but only if your ordering one before they roll out to dealers since the outer rails are a standard item while the cross bars are an 'option'.
Just look at the rims all cop cars have the same rims and the exhaust are smaller and sum times pointing down totally different from what the civilian cars and all cops have to have sum type of lights
Check the grill. There are lights in them. You're on a bike so you can see it better. Also, look for steel rims with center caps. If you're behind one look for the EXT on the left side before the numbers. If it has Christmas tags (month/year), then you're good. The old ones that civilians own are required to have Christmas tags. Ride safe out there. There be road pirates on them roads. 😂❤

It's all about looking for the roof rack and tailpipe on those explorers. All explorer police vehicles will NOT have a roof rack, also the tailpipe on the police vehicles will NOT have chrome on the tips. All normal Explorers have ROOF RACKS and CHROME TIPPED EXHAUST.

Some tips for watching for cops: 1. NO ROOF RAILS. Big tell. 2. Cheap base wheels (usually steelies with hubcaps) 3. License plate will usually say ‘GVT’ somewhere on it 4. Usually always black, white, or grey 5. Almost always will still be able to see some lights at the top of the back window or behind the grille 6. Spotlight

Gov spec explorers have no roof racks, that’s the easiest giveaway. All civilian spec cars at the very least have the short roof rails.

I was driving home from work yesterday and a black one was behind me for like 8 miles I was like “PULL ME OVER IF YOURE GOING TO PULL ME OVER” it was a mom teaching her kid how to drive😂

Here's a good tip to tell if it's a cop or not.
The police version of Ford Explorers never have roof racks.
Here's a tip SUV cop cars don't have roof rails most civilian cars do have roof rails
Has chrome grill, roof rack, and WHITE running lights. Not a cop. Cops have black grills, no rack, and AMBER running lights.
I can only tell if there’s only numbers on the plate. Some ghost tagged cops use regular plates
Some tips for watching for cops:
1. NO ROOF RAILS. Big tell.
2. Cheap base wheels (usually steelies with hubcaps)
3. License plate will usually say ‘GVT’ somewhere on it
4. Usually always black, white, or grey
5. Almost always will still be able to see some lights at the top of the back window or behind the grille
6. Spotlight
ROOF RACKS!!! LOOK FOR ROOF RACKS! If it is an undercover they won’t have roof racks you were fine jus a civilian In a lookalike

You can't tell by the grille or the wheels? Unmarked cops don't have grilles like that, they would be mostly black mesh and you'll see the concealed flashers. Also, if you've done nothing wrong, you shouldn't have to worry about the cops, AKA DON'T SPEED
They had those explorers on the island I work on for 5 years before the states got them. Still hard to tell but for the antennas on the roof...
Maybe don't speed thru school zones and then it doesn't matter...

If the vehicle has roof racks, it's NOT a cop. Cop Explorers do not have roof racks. ALL civilian Explorers DO have roof racks.
