  • Juneteenth is a day that marks the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, resiliency, and the pursuit of justice. The holiday refers to June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, were finally informed of their liberation, 2.5 years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
