Glad to see your post. Peggy had a great idea about the plastic urinal. My aunt fell last spring because she passed out over an infection and needed to be lifeflighted to Pittsburgh. It was scary, but she did recover and is doing well. I ended up buying her a wireless doorbell that she has on her walker and it rings to her boyfriend who sleeps in another room. It’s just plugged into an outlet and he can move it if needed. That way if she needs help in the night or any other time he’s not around she can just press it and not have to yell for him.

We have one of those wireless bells too. It’s working great. My dad doesn’t seem to always need me anymore when he gets up at night but he still wears the button around his neck all the time in case he needs me. Thanks so much for your helpful comment. I appreciate it very much!

The symmetry of your Tropics Plaid tote is wonderful. Thats what I want and been impossible to find. I’ll keep looking though. I probably won’t risk Paper Store.

lol, I was just leaning back listening and heard my name. Ha. Ha. It’s Peggy. I agree on this pattern phenomenon, we need a name for it. I am loving my Hope Blooms Multi Strap. Even better in person. Sorry if this is TMI and your dad may not go for it but as you know, my dad is also a high fall risk and I’ve strongly encouraged him to just use that plastic urinal thing during the night. I don’t live with him so I’m not sure he’s complying but while not pleasant better than a midnight fall. Both my parents are high fall risks and have had multiple falls so it’s the 24/7 goal, try not to fall.

I once had five years where problems lingered. I had been married ten years to a physician, no children. One day he said he wanted to divorce and I was glad. His reason, he wanted to become a 'playboy.' A 40 year old man! Five years later, I met the love of my life and have been happy since. It was rough in terms of uncertainty, but I gained a lot of peace of mind and found my present-day husband, and we have a very happy marriage. But five years in a situation that got better, eventually. I am glad Alisa has found the Vera women in social media. It is good for her and we like her lots. The Veras, the emotional comfort and support, the care, it is all here for her and I am glad it helps her. I think she needs a mom, an aunt, a mother figure. But when that is not present, the bags, Me-time, hobbies, all good.

Don’t worry about TMI lol. My dad has a couple of those urinal things but doesn’t like using them. He’s shockingly stubborn and not a great patient, which is surprising given how easygoing he is in general. He was a favorite of all the therapists in acute (in-hospital) rehab because he was so pleasant to everyone. The staff actually told me that. He does seem to be getting better with his balance and strength when he gets up at night, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed it’ll be ok.

That is so heart breaking about the dogs. When I divorced in 1999 I had to leave my Dalmatian behind. It was true grief. I didn’t get to see him again.

Wishing you a much much better 2023! Ahh, critters, pattern placement and crooked patterns…I so identify. I “retired” to Florida from NJ at 26 for a slower pace of life and love it here 20 years later 😊 Thanks for taking the time to share. I really enjoy your videos.

I agree with Peggy about the urinal…he can sit at the edge of the bed and not get up. I love your videos…great Vera stuff…and with everything going on in your life, you are so funny. My heart is touched but you make me laugh too all in 1 video!! Thank you and hang in there!

So sorry with what you are going through. I understand the family issue. I was my dad’s primary caregiver along with my mom and yeah we don’t talk to some family for similar issues. Praying your dad is on the up and up more each day.

Ah yes, the infamous VB plaids. 🤔 Any time I take a chance on one of those I feel like I just threw my 401k down on the roulette table and I'm hoping for the big win. 😂 And, of course, the ole "they just retired it, now I need it all!" conundrum. 😅 All so relatable. 😊😅
Very happy to hear that your Dad is on the mend. I hope his recovery is speedy, and continues to go well. And that your life is filled with ALL the good "stuff". 🥰 TFS all the goodies, and I sincerely wish you a fantastic 2023. 💜😊

Thanks so much! I’m so behind in my video watching but watched your video before getting that new triple zipper shoulder bag. That olive color is so nice. But I returned the vag ultimately because it was too small for me. Now it’s calling my name in cabbage rose cabernet lol. Maybe I’ll give it another shot 😂🤦‍♀️. Hope 2023 is good for you too!💕

Alisa, Thanks for another great video. Just love hearing your commentary. And there's another phenomenon (doo-doo, do-do-do)
🎵 When Alisa describes a bag that I had no interest in then I want it 😂 You've made me take a second look at that Hope Blooms 😀 Hope your dad continues to do well and take care of yourself too!

I ADORE the Golden Girls! I think I’m on my 6th run through of the entire series. 😅 It reminds me of simpler days at home with my mom in the summers. We would eat peanut butter on potato chips and watch golden girls. ❤

Arghhh. I waited too long and now the Vera tote is sold out on VB site. And of course Amazon immediately raised their price to $84 🤬 Panic mode. I’m going to be calling some retail stores.

I know that retired pattern phenomenon! I hope your father continues to improve! My father also had a brain bleed after a fall. They missed it at first, but by 6 weeks his hand and speech were affected as it built up in his brain. My father's may not have been as severe as yours because it was weeks in the hospital and rehab after his craniotomy rather than months, but a year post-surgery he's doing wonderfully. He drives again, his writing and fine motor are so much better, he walks steadily, and he's off the anti-seizure meds. I hope your father's recovery is as successful! It was slow going and my father was convinced he'd never recover (which was one of the hardest parts of it all), but over time he made an almost complete recovery, probably 95% of where he was before his fall. No need to answer because I know you've got very little time for yourself, but hearing about other people's recoveries kept my family hopeful while my father was still struggling for every slight gain.

Glad your dad’s health is still improving. Sending you good vibes for 2023. While I was watching your video, I ordered an Imperial Hearts Red Glenna bag and the on a roll case in Java Navy Camo. I have been wanting to try a Glenna again but was debating on which pattern and I just had to have the Imperial Hearts Red pattern because it kind of reminds me a little of vintage valentines.
My husband and I got into jigsaw puzzles during the last couple of years so I’m curious to hear if you have a favorite jigsaw puzzle brand.

Hi Alisa. Please, do not reply. You are busy. Just to say I am glad you and your dad are doing well and how much I always enjoy your videos. I wonder if you have a little comfort nook to visit at times near your home such as an art supply shop or bookshop or some sit-down comfort place such as Barnes and Noble cafe when there is stress. Yarn supply shop, etc. But your dad needs you there and it is good you have each other. You have 'me' time in the car, great!

    Hi Alisa,
First, here's the link to that funny song Mahna Mahna from The Muppet Show I think you meant?
    ruclips.net/video/8N_tupPBtWQ/видео.html
(I'm kind of a music freak and immediately it struck a cord so... hope this'll bring a smile on your face!)
So sorry to hear of all your troubles with your dad 😞 That really puts a strain on you eh? And it's difficult when they don't want to listen and be a bit stubborn. One can understand that on the one side, older people feel they lose their independance little by little each day and try to hold on to it as long as possible but on the other hand: they also need to accept certain things and dependancies and they're not 18 yrs old anymore.
But it's lovely to see you care and feel for him as well, I think everyone here with older parents know exactly what you're dealing with and we support you!
Love your video and that particular tote! Hope Blooms is such a gorgeous pattern I think and you're spot on about the detailing and pattern placement! Love it!
Also your view on the Tropical Plaid is so acurate!
Only last month I bought an Iconic Glenna Satchel in this pattern (new with tags 2nd hand but not used) and I had exact that same feel: Florida all over!
And yes, the cotton feels richer and the straps are more sturdy and firm than on the RC's... loved it and I'm keeping it for coming Summer to use!
So your video was a bit of 'déja vu' with regard of that part 🙂
You take care Alisa, and thanks again for your wonderful video!

Mahna-mahna song is sooo catchy & I love it, such fun ! I grew up watching Sesame Street & The Muppet Show and have abiding fondness for the Muppet content of both :) Googled it & the internet says it was originally aired on Ed Sullivan (but that's before my time)...there are multiple versions, incl. one involving more conventionally human looking Muppets & one using more peculiar Muppet creatures. Well, wherever & whenever it's from, here it is on The Muppet Show-Sorry not sorry ;) for putting this earworm in your brain, bc now it's playing inside my brain too.
