Hi Guys, We're starting to get some silly comments that are just bait or people with self-esteem issues. Happy for comments to stay open and we'll answer when we can. But before you comment, make it intelligent and relevant. The whole world sees this and you don't want to look silly in front of it. Enjoy!
@NoNo-uy2bq ahh thanks for subbing to my channel, its a great all round jacket warm and has good water proofing, its not Goretex but water runs off well. Better than my Arc'teryx leaf cold wx.
I like fishing at night, and because of my work it’s hard to fish furring the day or the “ normal hours”. To me this looks amazing! And this was 3 years ago! I’ll check if there are any new versions! Not that this is not perfect for my fishing in Scandinavia or during the cold season
Thanks for commenting. We find there's a lot of confusion between various Gore products, with the biggest being that all products made with Gore are waterproof. Windstopper fabric has no backing layer and as you imagine, it's hard to glue a seam tape to the non-stick teflon membrane. Under Gore licensing, you can't call a Gortex garment waterproof unless it's seam-sealed and tested by Gore. Not many people uderstand this difference. Down here, we can go from -2 to +24 in 5 hours. Wind and rain are a factor, way more than snow, that users will face. Knowing that this jacket will get the user through a reasonable amount of rain is good, but they have to know there are limits. We also have user responses telling us how well the jackets did in rain for something that is regarded as "not waterproof". So, it's important to know these things down here.
Hi Andres, the thickness of the jacket is realative to how much the insulation has lofted. When squashed it wil be only mm thick. You can wear a plate carrier / vest / battle-bra over it and it will compress the insualtion down flat. The only thing you need to be aware of it that where any lofting insualtion of any brand is compressed, it will not insulate (why you need an insulated sleeping mat) so that part of the jacket under the carrier, will be less effective. But it's almost always hot under a plate carrier, especially if your active, and this kind of equals out!
I know it’s a year old but I use my Mig under my plate carrier regularly in the winter. That’s with a fleece or thick sweatshirt under the mig if need be.
Sorry for the slow reply. The 3.0 is now fully out of production wiht theven the multicam varsions going ot the 4.0. We do have a couple of 3.0's left as long as you want either Black or Grey and are a size Small or XXLarge.
The sizing is accurate. garmetns like MIG jackets have a little more room in them for the additional layers that you would wear the conditions the jackets were made for. See the sizing here. www.coolkit.com.au/sizing-info/
The outer fabric is a little noisey at first, but quietens down with with use and washes. The relativey new G-Loft Windstopper is not rated as low, but has a great outter fabric from Cordura. Not the same technical level as the Gortex, but has a realtively soft feel to it and is quiter. Unfortunately, as we're in lockdown again I don't have a video of that coming any time soon!
I don't mean to be pedantic, but most consider thermal optics and NVGs to be different. NVGs do not rely on IR, where thermal (obviously) does. Otherwise, thanks for the video. I recoiled at Carinthia's video, because it shows the "thermal" image in (the now out-of-fashion) NVG green. Thermals are almost never in green, at least the ones I've used. They use black/gray or a graduated color palette.
HI Officialund, it is unerstood that the IIT in NVGs magnifies photons of minimal light we can see and light we can't see via a cathode, into light we can see, however that light we can't see starts in the IR bandwidth at 740nm, right after red visible light. This section is most often called the Near or Short Wave Infra Red spectrum and is left of arc for all the Infra Red wavelengths. This is also why you get a brighter image when you use and IR illuminator. If NVG's didn't pick up photons on these wave lengths, the illuminator would not have an effect, as like us, the NVG's wouldn't see IR light. Thermal sits on the right of arc of the IR wavelengths and is Long Wave Infra Red. Follow Act-In-Black on insta and see one of their QA sessions. You know they are gurus here. As to what colour image you get, white phos is becoming more popular for better clarity in certain situations but it buggers up your night vision, whilst green has less effect on it. In thermals, there's no direct image from the sensor, it has to go through a processor and be displayed on a screen. That means you can chose whatever colour palatte you prefer from black/white, black/red, black green, raindow, glowbow, ironbow... there's a lot to choose from. Fused vison is whatever get's programmed over the tube colour and eventually, what you know as night vision, will be indirect, with it too going through a processor for a clearer and possibly colour image, that is easily fused with thermal. Check out the guys we represent at www.andresindustries.de for thermal.
@@premierdefenceagencies8145 You’re correct about IR illuminators, and I may not have been clear. I have DTNVS White Phosphor Binos personally. My point really is that the jacket won’t reduce “NVG” signature, but could be effective in reducing Thermal signature. Or are you claiming that the jacket is reducing under true NVGs such as your std PVS-14/PVS30, etc?
@@OFFICIALUND You were clear in your first post and I tried to hint that you should check out some info on it, but ok. Treatments of fabrics for IR and NIR remission have been around for over thirty years (you've probably worn some and you haven't heard of them?) and it also includes choosing the dyes and pigments for how much they reflect in the spectrums, known as IR/NIR Values. The internet is full of images showing the differences between treated and untreated fabics, paints, buckles etc. As to thermal, anything that fully blocks heat transfer will defeat it. Are you, with your white phos DTNVS going to go to Gore's engineers and the defence technicians that develop and test this stuff, and tell them they are wrong? Our experience starts at AN/PVS 2 and continues, as we offer Act-In-Black products via Andres Industries, which means when we write a techincal document for a night vision tender, we had better know what we are on about. Our sniper products from Phantomleaf are carefully developed with techincal fabrics and dyes chosen solely for IR/NIR remission and are the best performers under NVG's that we have ever seen, and we have seen a lot. Now, everything has reflectance values and if your clothing and equipment values differ greatly from your surroundings, you will "beacon" under NVG's, and that's what its about, an IR type of camo. I appreciate your questions but you need to consider what your knowledge of the subject is before you say "that can't happen". We may be rough and unpolished in our videos, but we are knowledgable and the people who make this stuff are way smarter than us. We'd rather look a little slow than like "tactical wankers". you have a channel too, and your channel's targeted viewers will be merciless with you in their comments if you're just reading off the brochure. If you've had miltary experience, don't rely on that as your only knowledge base either, militaries teach just what you need to know to do the job and nothing more. We've been there too and these videos we do are to educate users on out prioducts to help them make better decisions with critical equipment. Get that knowledge built up and you can approach you videos with confidence. Stay Safe!
