Brother, I have 30 years in trucking. You MUST factor in tires, preventative maintenance, scheduled maintenance, and the devil of unscheduled maintenance. If you have a rookie driver, you see higher maintenance. At the end of the day, you are barely breaking even. Here are some horror stories I have had with drivers in the last 30 years. A Jack knife in California Truckee, towing and recovery $8000. Engine failure in El Paso TX, $26000 for a rebuild., Theroking Reefer repair $6000. The list is endless and unpredictable. If I knew what I know now, I would have been better off, buying trucks, and selling them to drivers under a lease purchase, so as to avoid these unforeseen expenses on the company. Pay close attention to what I have said. May God bless you, and Good Luck. Shalom.

David thanks for all the info which you have saved me tons. I'm in FISHERS myself. Can you tell me a way to get my CDL license at a low cost. I can easily pass my permit its the driving part and the new mandates are coming in FEB so I want to get my CDL however I can't go to work for a trucking company for pennies. I have a FT job not in driving but want to buy my own SEMI, I used to be in the towing business and still have a truck that is put up. I also have my authority however its under a voluntary revoke so I don't pay insurance. I was going to start the box truck thing and even bought a truck (tax exempt thanks to you) however prices went crazy on them plus market flooded, so I decided to sell it because my end goal was the SEMI anyway. I just need a cheap way out of pocket to get the seat time to pass the test. Can you help point me to someone or place since you are local? Keep makng the videos! Thank you

Is it better to rent trailers when first starting up instead of starting off so deep into the red with truck and trailer expenses?
