LOL! Before the Passenger Pigeon was hunted to extinction, pigeons in the USA were so numerous, they blocked out the sun for days migrating. Audubon witnessed a flock of pigeons 300 miles long and a mile wide that blocked out the sun for 3 days. They sounded like a constant roll of thunder and trees collapsed from the weight. Scientists are now considering cloning this bird, so it may happen again.

There is a really wonderful book called "Pigeons" by Andrew D. Blechman, and it is a really great read. If you liked this video, you'll really enjoy the book. It's got a lot of heart.
Here's an excerpt from the description of the book:
"To research this lively history of the humble pigeon, the author traveled across the United States and Europe to meet with pigeon fanciers and pigeon haters in a quest to find out how we came to misunderstand one of mankind’s most helpful and steadfast companions. Pigeons captures a Brooklyn man’s quest to win the Main Event (the pigeon world’s equivalent of the Kentucky Derby), as well as a convention dedicated to breeding the perfect bird. The author participates in a live pigeon shoot where entrants pay $150; he tracks down Mike Tyson, the nation’s most famous pigeon lover; he spends time with Queen Elizabeth’s Royal Pigeon Handler; and he sheds light on a radical “pro-pigeon underground” in New York City. In Pigeons, Andrew D. Blechman reveals for the first time the remarkable story behind this seemingly unremarkable bird."

As a pigeon fancier, let me mention that not only are pigeons exceptionally extraordinary creatures. They are resourceful. A pigeon can fly from one place to another without knowing where its going over Many miles back to there location. We call them homing pigeons and I know you were referring to a wild city pigeon, but domesticated pigeons are very smart and can be used for many things. One of the sports is racing ! I don't mind them. I however do think they can be kind of stupid compared to other birds like starlings, which are a nuisance bird. I found that a pigeon gets inside a large building, it may starve to death before finding it's way out, where a starling will find it's way out in no time. I also recall being under a draw bridge, and the stopper of the bridge was filled with feathers because the pigeons would sit on the stopper and get themselves crushed to death when the bridge closed. This is like tons and tons of force compressing the bird into something akin to particle board.

I don't think that pigeon you were trying to interview was a sir. She probably felt very offended and flew away.

I don’t hate pigeons I just hate the mess they make and the minute you have two of them near you the following year there will be over a hundred of them.
They use to be part of the food chain just like chickens are today, I don’t know when we stopped eating them as they are no different to other birds that are still on the dinner plate but just have more meat on them than quails. Less than ducks or geese.
