Since taking on a 400 year old welsh farmhouse, there are a about 3 YT professionals who always deliver and you're at the top. Thanks for all your hard work, it is very much appreciated.
“Not a professional tiler”. Proceeds to do an absolutely beautiful tiling job! 💯 Loved watching this!
Watching this video has confirmed that I will not be tiling my own floor. You made this very clear and straightforward-however, your skillset is not mine. Much respect for the level of detail involved with this work. I will happily pay a professional for my project. Many thanks! Cheers:)
Mother of god ! All these years of getting a wet T shirt I never tried using my wet saw from behind !
You're not the only one. I was like he's using it backwards then thought about the positives of not getting wet through. 😀
Haha! It’s the way forward!
Everyday is a school day, I will be cutting backwards from now on!
I thought the exactly the same thing 🤣🤣
Brilliant. I didn't even notice. Tile job coming up, I shall use this method 👌🏼
Not tiling anything but couldn’t stop watching! Beautiful job James!
so many gems and pieces of wisdom you wouldn't think about on your first big tiling job. Thank you so much
As a retired htg eng, just watched this programme for entertainment, 1st class, learned bundles, tiling for me always a pain, in my own house I always recess radiator tails in wall, saves cutting floor covering materials tiles, carpet etc, no obstructions for skirting installation, vacuum, mops etc, I’m now hooked on your series, as a heating engineer, i am only a handyman Plumber, an aspect I have trouble explaining to folk, look forward to more.
Cracking job and video 👍 my 5 year old watched it from start to finish with me without changing it to Ben and Holly...you have a gift 😂😂😂👍
Haha! Comment of the day winner right here!
This was really, really informative and I will watch again several times before I start so I get it right.Thank You.
That's my kitchen floor sorted! Top job James. Much appreciate you making this video with all the banter and humour. Brilliant work fella 🙌
I was always told that you should only scribe once to keep the cut perfectly straight. Admittedly I was training with an expert professional tiler though. It would normally be at huge mansions or hotel lobbies etc. You could barely see which was the cut edge. The wet blade and snap cutter he always used were made by Rubi which are pretty expensive. Since then I’ve tiled many kitchens and bathrooms and this video is pretty much the way I do it. Harder than it looks and correct adhesive for subfloor is vital. Great video as always.
This is great..thanks so much. Will be tiling my bathroom floor shortly and was really, really nervous. Especially as I have to tile a level access shower tray. Anyway, I am still fairly nervous but now I can watch your video throughout. Thanks also for the video about installing the Vitra Comfort toilet and infrared flush. I always learn things and have a laugh too.
I love your perfectionism when you're working out your approach to a job. The results speak for themselves......nice one matey.
You're such an amazing guy, don't take people seriously if they say otherwise! Great job!!!!!!!!!
Best way to start me Saturday morning off, Cheers James 👍🏼👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I really enjoyed the video. A very interesting approach to tiling, cutting all the tiles beforehand.
Great advice mate, as a pipe fitter I am fitting a multifuel burner and am using fire tiles and grout for the surround, this video reminded me of quality tiling!
That’s some great tile cuts around pipes and door frames.
The system you used for tiling your bathroom is fantastic with a good planing and careful thinking the result speak her self happy days James.
Absolutely brilliant!
Man what a great job, really useful to watch. Thank you
It was worth watching just for the dry humping of the tile cutter. Some good tips Jimmy. Have a good weekend.
Lovely job James!
Bro, I have been watching you for about 2 years now. Thanks for the inspiration.
Brilliant video and a brilliant job 👏👏👏
I use a piece of ply with a hole in it for cutting holes in tile. Works well
That’s a good shout!
Same here.
Full commitment. My hero.
I love the video, love the personality so funny, awesome
Discovered this channel as I enrolled for a Level 1 Plumbing & Heating Diploma Course and I think you might've jumped in my top 3 favourite RUclipsrs. Liked and subscribed, thanks.
nice work mate. Thank you.
Very useful video for my project. Thx
I used a profile gauge last week to cut a 300 quid length of worktop around some heating pipes. You're right, it's a beautiful thing!!
Haha man I learn so much and laugh along the way, you sir are a grade A legend! Going through your tools at the end was hilarious. Respect.
Brilliant. Learnt some good new tip. IF it works for you it can't be wrong!
Great film, some good tips, cheers 🍻, Chris. 👍👍
Always enjoy your videos lots of information top man.
George would approve of this job mate, he would be proud he taught you so well! ☺
You're a great raconteur dude🙌 inspirational work 👍
Thanks. A good watch. If I may just stick my two penneth in then screwing a batten to the floor where your laser line is helps a lot as you can then just butt the tiles up to the batten without fear of them "crossing the line". Even though we all love to cross the line at times😬
James love that you call your level the buble 😂 worked with a guy and he had a name for everything, here a few of em so hed say pass us the
Gary neville - Level
Mike myers - pliers
Kier stammer - hammer
Box of frogs - Dogs
Rats tails - Nails
Bertie magoos - screws
He was nuts 🤣
And if he needed a wee hed say im nipping for a quick matt le tiss 👍🤣
this guy is pro. Lots of useful detail!
Well done!! Superb use of tools and skills . Tilling isn art I'd rather leave to those that can get the job done properly!!
Know how to do anything I watch on James videos, but just really like and enjoy his videos!
I always line tile plus adhesive bed and mark the architraves. Multi tool the bottom of the architrave off. No fiddly cuts.
this guy is fantastic!!
Great, just about to have a go myself. Always learn loads. 👍👍
Top man!
Fantastic video
this is one of the best on youtube, please do another bathroom dude!
😂 🤣 😂 🤣 That ending bit was just class 😂😂😂😂
Great video and expertise 🙂
Great job and video the who bathroom series is giving confidence to tackle mine 👍
Loved this video! Made me want to go tile a bathroom now😂😬
My man!!!
Some one else who back butters!! Ensures good coverage. Love your videos
Bloody brilliant 🤩
I did my own bathroom years ago and did a good job, BUT now at 58 I'm going to get a pro in........it's an age thing!
Maybe not everyones cup of tea, but a true perfectionist, 😁👍
little tip I use for when I use a pilotless hole saw is to have a larger template made of wood hold the template with one hand drill with the other!
Good shout that, thank you for the tip 👍
Thanks
😂😂😂 You remind me of my husband.. That last few minutes where your advertising your items. Classic had me in stitches.
That was absolutely hilarious at the end…Never laughed so much. What a fantastic and informative video, massive appreciation all the way from Northern Ireland (The sunniest part of the UK lol)
Subscribed!
amazing video thanks
Thanks man for this... gonna DIY for my home..
Some top tips mate , subscribed 👍
Good Saturday morning to you sir and your family
Great videos mate 💪💪
I have zero skills or knowledge however I’ve only ever scored the tile once and always been happy with the results. Always very clean. I do put a fair bit of pressure on.
Correct...one pass with the cutter only then snap.
Depends what it is made of ceramic will break after one slice porcelain or natural stone/ travertine will need a few more due to being more dense
Liked the video after watching the advert at the end! Made my day 😂
Just something I've always done is when grouting, I run the sponge over at an angle so it doesn't take anything out, and a neater finish. keep up with the great work
Go diagonally over the tiles. I like the ox spacer system.
Looking very good 👍👍👍👍
Thanks 🙏
Solid video and great result. 20:24 got me… even my missus was laughing
I am not a plumber but a very advanced DIYer and your tip for starting off the hole cutter is really invaluable - Thanks mate!! See you Thursday on the Ale Army
Being a plumber has changed over the years. There was a time when tiling would never be done by the plumber. But to do a complete job these skills have to learnt. Conversely. Lead flashings, zinc gutters, and that kinda roof work has been given up to the roofing boys. And they are welcome to it. I'm not getting up ladders anymore.
I keep my big 10 litre paint tubs for mixing grout, (after washing out 🙄) The square edge of the tub makes mixing easier, the handle is nice! The snap on lid stores grout and adhesive in an airtight way once you have finished 😎
That’s a good call!
@@plumberparts 30cm!! l thought it was 300mm or 12" as my old dad would have said!!! Enjoyed the video, hate tiling walls and floors but hay ho saves getting a tiler in and the money goes in my pocket!!!!
The end of the video, hilariously awesome
What a surprise. A plumber who can tile. I bet he does electrics, plastering and on a weekend clears land mines.
Nice one 👍
Love all your videos mate, super helpful all of them! Just wanted to ask if you’ve got any recommendations for RUclipsrs like yourself that do carpentry and/ or electrics? Thanks!
Get printing that t-shirt! Useful video. Ta
Brilliant tips and advice James, what's next part? Thanks
I am a 62 year old grandmother who wants to do her own tiling. I have just been quoted £500 to tile around my bath, so thought I'd do it myself. I found the video fascinating. What is the grid on the floor? You mentioned it at the end... that you had put down hardboard then????. I've subscribed so now need to catch up on the rest of your videos. Thank you for explaining step by step what to do and the tools and methods needed.
In a thousand of tiling video I watched your the first one who scores a soft ceramic tile 3 times.
I've been a tiler for around 17yrs and cannot fault your method at all. Back buttering is a must especially with the tile levelling system which will slightly lift the tile once tightened. Great job!
Should you seal your grout with grout sealer? If you don't what will happen?
17 years but you can't fault his misude of the tile cutter?
Yeah 17yrs! What scoring 3 times or using the wet cutter backwards. If it works for him then that's OK by me. I was actually commenting on his method of laying.
@@photosidic2 well said Sid
Never in my life seen and been told to score THREE times 😂
I have subscribed to your channel few years back and I am still impressed!! I love marmite but I love you more!! Not sure where that comes from !!! ahahaha!!!!
top man, top job!
Wicked video!
Great video. What surface are laying the tiles on top of?
very good 👌👌👌
Great tips mate. I hate tiling. 👍
Not a bad attempt! Looks nice
There’s a guy on YT called the beaded tiler. I would recommend watching some of his videos for great tips. Great job my man 💪
The end part proper cracked me up lol
Pmsl 😂 great vid, James! Rocking those vests. Hopefully you'll be a PHEX Chelsea.
Tilers really are worth their weight in gold
Great job fella! Where are those tiles from please mate?
This is the extra care and attention I'd love to see from a tradesman in my home but in reality time is money
For a novice; this is better than most, so called proffesionals. Well one.
As a carpet fitter ( normally, come in after any tiling job ); you fitted the tiles, too far into the door jam.
I see 99% of tiles or laminates in the wrong place.
If their is a threshold strip fitted, then work up to that ( as long as it is under the door and nothing is being changed afterwards)
If a carpet is to be fiited, with a door bar, then this HAS to go under the door; so it is not on show, when the door is closed.
NO options.
As said; you done a great job and I like the tile things that you used :)
Well Don
Don
I'm not even tiling a floor but I'm enjoying this video
Pissed myself at the end with the tool review 🙈🤣🤣
