    - All inpatient hospitals will be different and have different rules etc but this is just a bit of an insight on what to expect.
    Please feel free to message me on instagram if you have any questions or ask away in the comments!

    Thank you for sharing! I don't think a lot of people talk about their actual experiences..you are very brave 💜 I also appreciate your explanation of how "sections" work...I live in the US, so I was not aware of that. 🙏

    Hi Demi , I'm 49 years old and back in 2006 I was sectioned on a grade 3 in Cheadle Eating Disorder Clinic and it was So barbaric it was unthinkable hence why my Eating Disorder Team No Longer use the place and I Lasted until three months after that in March 2007 when they finally let me go home as it was absolutely horrific and what makes it even worse now as it says on Google that Please Don't Send Your Child Here under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES .
    But I'm really pleased that you are getting better ❤️‍🩹 now Lovely 🥰 and I really do mean that Xxx

    I don’t think inpatient is THE solution in and of itself, however I do firmly believe it can accelerate recovery if you are committed and do what is asked of you.
    Although it shouldn’t be the sole focus, it’s necessary to work on food/weight restoration in order to become more cognitively flexible before you can address the underlying mental aspect. That’s why adequate outpatient support from a therapist and/or dietitian (preferably both) needs to be in place for when you’re discharged.
    I agree the rigid structure may seem restrictive but I’m guessing it would otherwise be a logistical nightmare to take into account everyone’s different preferences. But planning a month ahead seems quite excessive so I think it really varies from place to place.

      I have weekly appointments with a community team which is just local to where I live, they do weekly observation and blood tests for me but that’s all the support I’m having at the moment.

    Did you really have to eat the same thing every breakfast and snack? Were there other options available or did you just always choose the same?

    • @Demiproudman
      @Demiproudman  8 месяцев назад

      Yes the same every single day… there was other choices but if one day I decided to have something else I would have to ask the support worker if I could change it and they would then turn around and say they have to ask the dietitian first so it didn’t work and was more hassle than what it was worth unfortunately!

    Years ago, when i was an inpatient at an EDU, even though we had to eat nearly double the menu of the hospital where you were, the treatment i had was good overall. Im sorry you didnt find it helped you much. I hope you are doing okay now, its a struggle trying to recover in the community.

    I just got told today that my team have a bed for me next Friday. This is not something I expected or want. I’m scared I’ll be sectioned if I say no. If you’re comfortable, would you talk about your experience being sectioned?

    • @Demiproudman
      @Demiproudman  9 месяцев назад

      Hey, so sorry to hear this but please don’t worry I promise you everything will be okay. If you do say no there is a possibility that they will have to do a section 2 depending on the circumstances. When I found out I was being sectioned I was never even asked if I would go informally to a inpatient hospital and was told I was been given (2 weeks) to turn things around and show improvements. They then called me at around 6pm at night to tell me that I have to go now so for me it was very stressful, unfair and not the best. However this doesn’t mean that this is how it will turn out for you. When your sectioned you don’t get treated horribly or anything your treatment is the same but you aren’t allowed to leave the hospital without getting your doctor to write up a “section 17” which allows you to leave the hospital for up to so many minutes. I hope this all makes sense. Sending you so much love please don’t worry ❤

      Also as well I was exactly the same I never wanted to go and believed I didn’t need to go but it really did help me get on track and I hate to admit it but it did so just have a little think about it, maybe if you go you won’t be there too long and you can get back to having more freedom and your life, you deserve that so much !! Keep on fighting x
