WOW! You really have a lot of talent. I was especially impressed with your incredible painting skills and making the P38 look so darn authentic! EXCELLENT JOB!
I used to build the Tamiya tank kits when I was a kid in the 70's..they were amazing, especially if you took your time building them..great job..I might get back into building models after watching this
Same here, in fact a pal of mine Brad Schlaar's father Ed worked as an illustrator for Tamiya so he got all kinds of armor kits from the company. I used to be so jealous of his enormous dioramas of German armor.
Magnificent rendition of my favorite WWII fighter, the detail is superb. For those who don't know, "Miss Virginia" was the plane flown by Lt. Rex Barber that on 18 April 1943 shot down the Japanese "Betty" bomber carrying Admiral Yamamoto, the man who planned the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Most interesting! I remember as a youth reading about this truly astounding event! Thank you for the refresher. Build one of these kits, then a Tamiya kit in 1:48th scale of the Mitsubishi Type 11 Isshikkirikko (Betty) Japanese Air Force Medium Bomber (61049). Please tell us about such a project. I strongly recommend motorising the engines and including in both the appropriate personnel. One can design the two stands and the electric wiring conduit in a manner that keeps them out of view from the front. Look up the term "Chapman crane" from motion picture production, and adapt it to this purpose.

Why do you need commentary. His technique speaks for itself. His subtitles explain what needs to be explained. That being said I used to build model air planes as a 12-14yo kid in the early 70s and the kits from then pale compared to today’s kits. I would say that the video I just watched is a master class in model building. Your attention to detail is a joy to watch. Thank you.
Watching this made me realize that I have a long way to go to become great at modeling. I did pick up a few new tricks though! Well done! Love the build!
Being stuck in bed with Covid despite being boosted and jabbed …your videos have been a great source of inspiration and relief from feeling sorry for myself :-)
I've never seen a P-38 put together before because I found the plane uninteresting (honestly)! This and you (and Tamiya) have changed my mind. Such skill in bringing it to life. Thank you.
An absolutely super build and as for the extra detailing you have carried out throughout the build its self. Well it really has lifted this model to another dimension. A fantastic video which is both informative and extremely helpful to anyone just starting out with modeling as well as those people who are seasoned professionals alike. Highly recommended to anyone interested in modeling.
Incredible Job!!! So realistic...I wish I had these RUclips videos when I was making them back in the 1070's Thanks to you I would have been a BEAST!!!!!
I'm like your atention for the detail.I'm very pleased to notice even your gloves are black which act like an camouflage and that way, which not disturb the focus point of the model.
This is easily the best, most realistic build of a P-38 I've seen! Incredibly well done. I think it would be helpful if, in the video notes, you listed all the products (paints, tools, etc.) you used. I'm personally just getting back into scale modeling after.... a lot.... of years away from it, and having a list of paints & tools would be helpful. Keep up the awesome work and videos!!
Thank you! Good luck with getting back into it. When I get a chance I'll add these to the description. The vast majority of paints/ materials and some tools are listed in the top right as I build the model. Cheers. Andy
I’m with you, my brother and I are just starting to get back into modeling and boy have things changed! I am astounded at how much detail are ion the models and the extra detail kits that be purchased. I am learning so much by watching these videos that when I finally get everything together I start mine around December or January.
Absolutely exquisite! I can only marvel at your skill, in my younger days I was a keen modeller (but never got within an asse's roar of your skill) These days I am afflicted by very shakey hands and eat with a spoon, so I can only envy your skill👍
man i would love to have you build one of my models that's been sitting for years cause idk what i'm doing. Thank you so much for sharing and teaching.
My late grandpa (dad's side) was a P-38 pilot. It's a shame, this style of airplane isn't talked about, much. Very nicely done, model, by the way. It's kind of mesmerizing, watching these get assembled.
Fantastic detail! Gorgeous paint! This model belongs in a diorama! I am an armor modeler who has be dormant since 1989. I'm just coming back to modeling and I would like to do an aircraft. My uncle Frank flew P-38s in the South Pacific in WWII. I am putting this kit on the buy list and starting my research to make an diorama to depict his service. Thank you for the spark that ignited an idea that may bloom into a real project. Keep the videos coming. Regards, Ed
By chance, I came across your channel....my lucky day! Terrific job all round culminating in a beautifully finished model. Will be checking out your other build 👍
Great looking p-38! I stopped working on plastic models. I'm building the 1:33 Wak paper model, which will keep me busy for the next 3-4 months. The good thing is you don't need to do all the chemical stuff, i don't miss the painting so much. Its another hobby really. But more family friendly 😄
Beautiful job. I noticed the White 33 was another option. That plane was buried in New Guinea and recovered in the 90's. It is now flying and is at the Museaum of WWII Aviation here in Colorado Springs CO.
Ever since I was a kid, I always had a problem with p 38bkits being VERY tail heavy. For a 1/32 build, I remember my dad putting a penny inside the nose. Solved the problem. Anything small with a bit of weight but not too heavy will do.
Great kit. I built it and I loved it. My favorite airplane books: - Topgun by Dan Pederson - F-4 Phantom: A Pilot's Story by Robert Prest - Great Fighter Jets of the Galaxy 1 by Tim Gibson
For sure this is amazing model building! It’s way beyond your average model builder, though. These techniques can’t be done by every day people. Practice beyond practice. Awesome video!!!
Very nice job. Appreciate your fixing the ammo and gun bay doors support. I like 1/48 and 1/32. can't see 1/72, too old. You have a good description of the turbo painting, results are outstanding. Subbed and bell for next. Thanks for posting. Music quite well done both volume and content.
I got this model for my 15th birthday and it was a great model. I’ve only been building models for 2 years now and the p38 is the best model I have done, it’s not as good as yours though
Hello mr. Shed.your pe skillz are enormeous.i wish I had your pe skillz.outstanding creative efforts.you are an shiny beacon in the modelling world.thank u delivering fun excitenes and Inspiration and knowledge.anawesomejobyoudid with that paintjob.i would like to give more than 1thumb up.but I cant.thats a pain in the ass.thank you for sharing.with best regards and sticky greetings from sandy Brandenburg/germany.your fellow modellmate.christian
Inspirational! This was so timely me. I’m just starting the same build, with the Brassin gun bay, so this was super helpful. I’ve also got two exposed engines to do too, so wish me luck!
Fantastic build. I’ve been getting back into this great hobby now for the past few months and have watched quite a few different videos to learn various techniques. Yours is by far the best and most informative. It would be terrific if you could do a voice over as you build. Thanks once again Andy.
It's very exiting to see your expert assembly with different paints and tools. I am just a retired old man and is just assembling my childhood bobby. The problem is in my country ( Burma/Myanmar) there is no Hobby Model shops. So had to buy some kits and some paints whenever I visit Singapore. I had no spray gun also. So most of my models are hand painted , and as I don't know which paint will dd be needed for models, its a head ache to try to figure out with paints available. The most available are enamel and oil paints. Its helpful to see your video. , I try to see on You Tube of real aircrafts for reference.. .Thank you.
GREAT build of a fantastic plane. It so well shows the quality of Tamiya. Love the Eduard add ons. Watching this, beats any episide of "The Voice" or the like. Big thumbs up and greetings from Holland.
Stunning work bro, I love it. The only thing I didn't understand was the white behind the exhaust ports, although my ignorance stops me from knowing why you put it there I'm sure you had your reasons ❤.
Very very nice job on that kit (I have 2 of the F/G and 1 of the Limited edition H kits) One small point, when you were mounting the nose Guncovers, I noticed that the support bar between them was still interior Green, and not OD. That was an exterior panel when closed up as it was the hinge support as well as the nose cone alignment support. 42.44 for example.... Other than that a really fantastic job on Rex Barber's plane.
That kit is amazing. Even with my low experience on model building I was able to get a result that I am quite proud of. Amazing work on your side also. Hopefully I will be able to get to that level someday.
You never realize how entertaining it can be to watch someone being creative until you find yourself watching it for a while.
WOW! You really have a lot of talent. I was especially impressed with your incredible painting skills and making the P38 look so darn authentic! EXCELLENT JOB!
Incredible job you did with this P-38 model! I'm a beginner model builder and this video is extremely helpful.

I get the feeling this not your first try at this ! Simply wicked !
I've been modeling airplanes for the last 8 years and watching your videos is so inspiring I still learn new tricks thank you for the videos
Probably the best P-38 build I've ever seen. Museum quality imo.
Wow...thank you!
This channel is recommended for saints who want to learn patience, and fine building and editing skills.

Amazing the amount of detail work that went into creating this masterpiece. Truly museum quality.

I know it's a Tamiya kit, so the fit is always going to be good, but your finished model is definitely on the high side of excellent. Subbed
My favourite build to watch so far!👌🏻
learned something new. it's easier to lay down the yellow tips on the propeller first then doing the black portions!
Wow. Brought back memories of my father building models.
Your p-38 is beautiful. The weathering is amazing.
Also my favourite US war bird . Great model skills. I hope we see more of your work 👍

Superb Andy. Loved watching this build vid.
Glad you enjoyed it
The cockpit alone is a work of art!
This belongs in a museum!
That's amazing! Wish I had 1/3 your skills!

love it, one thing that's driving me crazy, I believe the front feed ramps for the guns are on the wrong side, the ammo is backwards.
I know. Its driving me crazy too now!! 🤣
@@ScaleModelShed Sorry for saying anything, I still think it's a great model.
the paint work is awesome as is the build

Back in the day, this was my favourite model plane to build next to the Mustang! Cheers!

Some guys are handy with tools...👍
