@@MrTechnodadIt’s almost weird to hear this because I’m VERY bad at (drawing) art, but as someone who does 3d game modeling, I have that ability to look at something and break it down into the different parts and recreate it on a program. I think the main difference is I look at it in a 3d sense, rather than a 2d sense.

@@MrTechnodad To me it's more like looking at a thing in 3D, stopping it at a good angle, drawing the 2D of it and than do the details by looking back to 3D that pop out more. Sometimes physicly - like drawing a plant - and sometimes I imagine it or take a different shots from a video from different angles.
But for someone who doesen't draw much, you have a good eye for shapes and proportion 💜

My dad is turning 50 this year. I just sent this video to him and now both of us are feeling inspired. He got a check in the mail the other day for about 37-ish dollars. We've just spoken and he's made notes to at some point this week, we're gonna head down to the dollar store or wherever and pick us up each a 128 pack of crayons with the built in sharpener and some 500 sheet packs of paper, and for the rest of the year we're gonna just draw whatever crazy, stupid, crappy, wacky ideas come to our heads. He would go tomorrow, but he has gout on his feet which makes it a bit hard to go out. We can now say with full truth that the government has funded our childhood dreams. As an artist, watching Technodad make such simple yet wholesome and creative art makes me so happy. I used to be very creative with my art when I was a kid and would just draw whatever I wanted but now it's hard to be creative because I'm so focused on making things "perfect" or worrying if I'll mess up the anatomy or structure of whatever I'm drawing. It's very relaxing though to see such wholesome art that doesn't need to be perfect. @@MrTechnodad haha, I don't think I can really express how much it meant to see this video today (and to get a reply). Took the time to just draw sketch my feelings rather than a dedicated art piece after watching the video. It helped me center myself, at least temporarily, while dealing with the grief of a recent and sudden loss. It really meant a lot to have the reminder to just be and be OK with that. Tears, anger, agony, joy- all of it. Sometimes I wish these experiences were not as traumatic as they have been, particularly in these moments... but I know I have more to give for all that I've lost. Even if that is not now in my current state, someday I can carry forward the kindnesses shown to me by strangers, friends and family alike.
It's odd to be so genuine in RUclips comments, but you have been so open about your grief and I just want to say Thank you. Your content; joyful, playful, somber and sad- all of it gives me at least a speck of hope regarding taking steps forward in the midst of debilitating suffering.

Thanks so much for saying that art is something you do with your eyes. This is one of the most important lessons for artists to learn, and hey, sometimes you fall off and forget to pay attention, but eventually you don't even need to think about it. When you see something with an artist's eyes for the first time it's an incredible feeling. Suddenly the most ugly boring thing becomes exciting and beautiful as you notice every detail, every shape, every line, how they relate to one another, what colours are hiding in the edges and shadows. Those dots you instinctively ignored, that flat bit you assumed was curved. Nothing is truly ugly or boring if you see it with intent, curiosity and without assumption. Loved this video!

We don’t deserve Mister Technodad. This video has a sort of Bob-Ross “anyone-can-paint” energy to it that honestly feels so healing somehow. It truly does remind me of being a little child and feeling so excited to unlock that simple yet powerful creativity. These videos always make me smile just as much as Techno’s, and I pray wonderful blessings and joy for his whole family. Thanks for the vibes, Mister Technodad.

I remember my last two weeks of high school where I hung out with my friend and art teacher after me and my friend finished weightlifting together (my teacher was very chill about it)
I remember specifically hearing her say "Hey I have some old art supplies I dont want, do you guys want it?" I was curious and looked inside to see two different crayola boxes with my griend getting one and I got the other one since I really wanted to try and use a different media for my drawings.
And it was FUN!! I started using them once I got them from my teacher and I felt like a child again. Its funnier because I have stained drawings on my wall so it makes the nostalgia better for me.
Note to any artist or someone who wants to have fun: Buy crayons. Use your art supplies and look at random pictures and fill it to the brim with doodles or something you like. Grab stickers and go back to being a kid :)

In my early childhood I had a dream of creating my own story for a game, but back then I, for some reason, thought that by the time I grow up every idea is going to be taken and there would be nothing left for me. I also couldn't understand drawing at all, I tried again and again throughout years, failing and giving up for another year or so.
And then, back in July 2020, I was like 15, I wasn't in my sleeping mood, so I sat there at 4AM, and started thinking. In 2017 I came up with a character, who, back then, was just a bunch of my other favourite characters put together in a poor way, and since I had nothing to use her for, I couldn't really reshape her character in any way; so I began thinking about a setting. An hour later I came up with like three more characters, one of them being my new protagonist and... Started writing my own story. I still couldn't draw anything, but I was writing some fanfiction for a few years where I would try to show more of my favourite media characters' personality.
For these last four years, writing my own story, slowly creating my own universe, it helped me to change as a person so much; it helped me feel fulfilled every day, helped me overcome the feeling of spending my time doing nothing. It helped me put all of my inspiration, all the things that I loved in this life, into something of my own.
And now, since January this year, during my first year at university, I tried to draw again and... I started making insane progress each day! Spending so much time perfecting my writing, I feel like I developed the amount of self-analysis I needed to overcome what was stopping me from improving my drawing skills. It's been only half a year, but I've just finished my first two coloured artworks, and I am insanely proud of myself, and there's a feeling like I already achieved some childhood dream I had about finishing at least one drawing of a character I love.
And meanwhile, I am also just glad that I had just some of the best friends I could have with me throughout the last seven years. Most of them I met in 2019, and we quickly became a small local community for the game we liked. I saw each of them be inspired to somehow, in completely different ways, entertain other fans, be it with drawings, stories, cosplays, or even dumb post-ironic memes that we loved. I learnt from them how to take opportunities, how to commit to your passion; I learnt to create art in any form I wanted
Persue art; express yourself; don't give up, you're always improving, even if you're not aware of it

I remember when i was a kid, there was a book series that came out in the uk that was super hard to get in america, as it wasnt sold in stores yet and ordering things online was difficult and expensive, so it was a big thing for one of my friends to get the next book. As an adult, i got home drunk after a party and was browsing youtube and saw an animatic for the series. My drunk self realized i was an adult with a bank account and i made one of the few drunk purchases ive made in my life: buying the first few books of the series. I completely forgot because it took a while to ship the books, but then they came in and i felt a part of my childhood soar.
I then was pained by feeling like an adult, because the protagonist was my age when i first read it (~11) and all the adults in the book were confused and concerned as to why an old elemental mage guy was taking a kid on lethal missions, a kid with no experience or training in magic, and were convinced she was going to get killed, and in rereading the books the adults were kinda right. That kids plot armor was the only thing keeping her alive for 3 whole books.

This video speaks to my creative soul. 've got a heart for stories n art - even had a whole gallery album on me phone dedicated to a story concept I've got in the works.
Sadly I'd just found out I had accidentally deleted that album and all 200-300 digital/semi-traditional arts (spanning 6-7 years) that were stored there are now gone. Its a god awful nightmare come true and what's worst is that it must have happened a month ago because the files are nowhere to be found in the 'recently deleted folder' that only auto perma deletes things after 30 months of being in the trash. And if I wasn't in such a rut during that span of time or if I had trusted my sneakin' suspiscion that somethin' was up with how the picture count had surprisingly decreased more than last time - I might have been able to save those artworks.
I'm still shaken by many recent events and misfortunes (especially this recent debacle), but this video reminded me of a lot of things when it comes to creativity and expression. Its given me a little hope back. Creativity truly is the expression of the soul.
    Thanks Technodad! [:)]
(I, too, also miss drawing with crayons and that childhood wonderment)
