Read on a German reseller website that they should always be used in combination with dedicated/technical motorcycle socks, especially when riding in cold weather. Indeed, cotton socks kept the moisture in when riding at 5-10 deg C and my feet felt slightly cold. I will buy dedicated socks and see if the advice was correct / if the feeling will be different. However, I came across this video as I am out for a short pair too. Therefore, the above is more like a tip, fan comment, not the opposite. I am using Effax leather balm and it is perfect, but you convinced me to give a try to the dedicated balm.
would be easier if the velcro was on the other side, have to bend further to get the velcro loose on the outside. i drive them day in and out because i only drive motorcycles. drove 150 miles in the rain and storm on highways subway at freezing temps, feet are dry and not cold, the big toe had the sense it felt the cold but that was nothing compared to my fingers, freezing pain to death. it are the best shoes i have. i even use them on parties, shopping, walking. name it. i do think that higher Daytona boots are safer. but because my small toe was squeezed to death i had to choose 2 sizes bigger size en with the thing taken out it finally fitted.
I wish I could afford a short pair and the higher touring boot, so if I was gonna invest I'd go for the higher shin protection. Once I win the lottery I'll buy both. Wish me luck!
