  • shot from gate D-23, American Airlines flight 963 non stop service to Sao Paulo Brazil, pushes back at 8:30PM central USA time... I have to say I was very impressed!, they had free food, with Brazilian meats a cheese and crackers... talked to some of the crew and had a great time... no matter what people say about AA, I will always love American Airlines and the effort the flight crew/agents/maintenance staff, Ex: puts in to make this airline happen!

This is so awesome! Their redesigned logo beats out United's new logo after the merger with Continental. Seriously, don't know what United was thinking by removing their distinctive tulip logo and the soft blue color that I so distinctively remember as being United.

I must admit, this plane looks even better in person. I saw a 777-300 at JFK 2 weeks ago. Just amazing.

Beautiful filming. I have respect for American airlines because they actually completely changed their logo and branding. I know many hate it but at least they had the guts to do it. I think it shows 'Murican spirit

@DFWDeno great video. Had the privilege myself to be seating in 6J on that flight. Awaited for two year for that moment and it finally came. Capt. John Hale and Capt. Bill Elder guided that baby all the way to GRU with lots of love.

The 787 is not designed to replace the 777. It's a smaller 767 replacement. The 777 is still young.

They can't have the metallic color scheme any more, since their shiny new 787s are not made of metal and are in fact black under the paint. That was a good reason to change their liveries fleet wide.

If you have Facebook, your answer is on there. The day AA unveiled their new livery, they posted many photos of it on their Facebook page. The comments exploded. It's fair to say the overwhelming majority of the thousands of comments, were negative. I posted a very negative comment as an aviation fan, that got several likes. American actually responded to me, and AA stated "(My name) we're proud of the new American and hope you soon will be too." Then they posted a link to a video for me.

I really the new American Airlines Boeing 777-300ER. It's brand new. I wish we could fly on new one from Dallas-Fort Worth to Sao Paulo-Grauhos. I think it would be a overnight flight. It's a very long flight. It departs Dallas at around eight thirty in the evening on central time and it arrives in Sao Paulo at around nine o'clock in the morning on Brazil time. It will be a great international trip for us to take.

Maybe because the new "United" is more so "Continental," except Continental chose to adopt the United name due to a bigger international brand recognition. Jeff Smisek (former CEO of Continental) is running the new United. He designed the (cough) "new" livery. Smisek has a lot of allegiance to CO and he didn't want to take United's name AND logo, leaving Continental with nothing. Hence, the current livery.

As a former AA Manager in the Asia Pacific region I believe this change in livery is disgusting. Wth the airline still in Chapter 11 and facing the possible merger with US Air, I would have thought management could better spend their time and resources in bringing the airline back into some form of profitability. Why tamper with such an iconic logo when there are so many more pressing matters to deal with. That tells us more about their management and why they are in such a predicament.

  • @tarcisioferreira9567

Your question demonstrates a lack of knowledge on the subject.
American Airlines chose Sao Paulo Brazil, because it is one of the most important markets for AA, have you looked at a map distance of both cities?
    Greetings from Brazil!!

AA has a very long crawl back up from the abyss they put themselves into. I'm sure within 2 years they'll be better but they are nothing compared to the lofty heights that carrier achieved in the '80s and '90s.

Why do you need a 773 to go to Brazil? I think AA is, "trying" to showboat. Why don't you fly that 773 somewhere far far away, like Dubai, Auckland, Manila or Shanghai? Maybe DL will lease you the routes if you ask nicely :)

from what i understand, doug parker and scott kirby at US absolutely HATE the new branding, especially the tail and 'eagle' logo. i have a feeling that once they take control, the rebranding will cease and a return to the 'patriot' scheme or something similar.

I think United will has already seen more negativity because of the loss of the continental name and their iconic tulip brand. Also the fact that they really didn't consult with anybody on the branding which was a disappointment but oh well. i think American has taken a turn for the better and they are completely overhauling their whole company which i like.
