I always liked the classic unpainted aluminum, but times are changing. New aircraft aren't made from as much aluminum as before, and unpainted composites are not an option. The new livery is growing on me. The name "American" is a very valuable asset and I cannot blame them for leveraging it.
Man so many people are hating just to hate. No one likes change. I love the new look! If you love aviation and commercial airliners you'd have some appreciation for the new look too. You can't always have the same old and same old. Fly high AA!
10 years later and this remains one of the only rebrands/logo changes that I still liked. Granted I was a kid when it happened, but I always thought America deserved better than unpainted fuselages
Have to say I loved the old livery ,, I was a bit unsure of the tail but the more I look at it the more I like ,,, I love the idea behind the logo it's clean modern and it's all about going forward can't wait to see the new cabins
Love this new livery! Great job! It looks very modern and clean, and the tail makes you think of American's red white and blue tradition. Can't wait to see it in person.
NEW PLANES... NEW LOGO... NEW IDENTITY... I THINK AA WILL DO GREAT NOW... REALY LIKE THE LOGO, CHANGE IS HARD TO GET USED TO BUT CHANGE IS ALWAYS GOOD... GREAT JOB!!!!!
I do like this new logo. It’s a new concept for a new company; and at the same time reflects the new spirit of American Airlines, and keeps its classic strength. Of course, it’s going to take a while for the people, to get familiar with this new visual identity; but this is part of the process. I’ve been an American customer, since 20 years ago, and I think it’s a great job in the right direction. Well done.
I love it!!! its a wonderful thing that American is embracing something new. the old was amazing and this is just as good, and to say that its horrible is foolish because if it is still around in 40 years i will be just as cherished. this new livery is wonderfully modern.
I'll miss the old livery, but I appreciate this new look just as much. It's clean, fresh, appropriate for modern times, and it really says to the world "American", promoting not just the brand but the entire nation. The old livery was good, but it's past its time now. The time has come for American Airlines to move on to something new, while giving Americans something to be proud of.
When flag is painted on a vehicle, the hoist side (that's the blue canton with the stars in US Flag) shall be painted towards the front side of the vehicle, as if the flag was flown from a flagpole in front of the vehicle and wave backwards. It is correct already.
I wonder if USAir had any input in the selection of the new logo and livery, since it appears that the merged airline will be using the logo and livery?
The new eagle looks great and it was a gutsy move to refresh such an iconic symbol. I understand its too late to make changes, although public opinion made AirTransat tweek their new logo, you should have moved the eagle to the tail and drop the "cubana like" tail.
The change in livery. I believe it has to be related to the composite fuselage on newer aircrafts that cannot use the bare metal livery used before. Like Aeromexico did when they realized the b787 could keep their current image back then... am i right?
I believe the new identity looks great. It is clean, modern, patriotic, and very classy. Seeing all of the flagged tails lined up at the airport gate is very impressive. Real nice job on the re-design. I believe it will quickly grow on the nay-sayers.
Sooo.... with this modernizing thing AA is all about now - can you navigate their site in Firefox these days, or do you still have to revert to IE if you want to pick seats?
I absolutely love the whole new livery, if I must say. The current or should I say the now old livery always seemed outdated from the beginning. Well done!
I wasn't sure the first time I saw the promo's in video, especially with a number of aircraft side by side, however the livery is really growing on me more and more, especially since I've seen it for real on a 777 at London Heathrow. It's clean, modern and very patriotic in appearance. A lot more thought has gone into this branding than some are maybe giving credit for, especially when compared to United/Continental for example. I wonder if any MD80s are scheduled to get this livery...
The livery is strong and sophisticated, well balanced with busy accents married to an overall minimalist design. The new logo is great too! Sidenote: How does one find a job with AA in branding? I would love for an opportunity to video and photograph those planes.
sure like it! the old one was really getting...old. I'm Flying American in August, Hopefully are all the planes painted and refreshed with new seating and in-flight systems etc.by then
Well JetBlue does not fly to all the destinations that American Airline Group flies, so they can't be the best in the world, but maybe the best in New York!
Very nice! That 777 look gorgeous! I hope that American can stabilize itself money wise and the service that we were used to returns to the skies. It is very important for AMR to treat all their employees well (especially pilots, flight attendants, ground crew, gate agents, call center staff and corporate staff) and make them proud to work for American. If they are proud, well paid and treated right this will pass along to us the passengers. Welcome to the new livery of these new birds!
Reporter: What kind of plane is it? Johnny: Oh, it's a big pretty white plane with red stripes, curtains in the windows and wheels and it looks like a big Tylenol.
The polished aluminum look's days were numbered. Most new aircraft made nowadays use lots of composites that won't polish up. Going to a paint job will avoid the patchwork look that a composite/aluminum aircraft would have.
I think the fuselage silver color goes good. The tail, however, is a bit bright for a silver colored body. I agree with SchmaveUCSB. The tail doesn't blend well. Also, the logo in front of the American logo just doesn't seem right. It's not terrible but the design could have used some more time.
I kind of miss the old livery with the red, white and blue stripes on the sides and the double A on the fin, but I can get used to the new livery, it doesn't look too bad at all.
The tail I quite like, although I agree with others that it's too busy, but it's good to see the Stars and Stripes flying back there. Reminds me of the old BA design with the Union Flag. Where this redesign is horribly wrong however is losing the polished chrome look AA used to fly. That polished chrome always reminded me (as a Brit) of NASA, the 60's, JFK, hot rods. All things American, not to mention it looked stunning reflecting that warm US sunlight. My 2 cents.
I always liked the classic unpainted aluminum, but times are changing. New aircraft aren't made from as much aluminum as before, and unpainted composites are not an option. The new livery is growing on me. The name "American" is a very valuable asset and I cannot blame them for leveraging it.

New colors are, wonderful. American Airlines has been a leading airline, now we will be leading, with a new look! Well done American!
I won’t lie I am absolutely in love with the new logo and the tail and the name on the side American love you American Airlines ❤️🤓👍🏻✈️
Glad to see that American is using their new 777-300ER's As their main flagships!

The new look, looks very cool!!!
It's time to more foward. No looking back! A new look, a new feel, a new attitude. LET's GO! AA TEAM!
I love this livery don’t change it!
Love it! Love the livery; love the logo; love your modernization project. You guys are awesome!

yes,& i have a beautiful Model of American Airlines 777, it's metal 🛫👍👍🙂
I like this livery!
I love the new livery. It's more "American" than the aluminum fuselage. It just seems to have a more "I'm a proud American" feel to it.
You must not have seen any classic airliners then
Love it..... The colours and the design are great.... we are in 2013 and American had to change the old logo.Congratulation AA.
Looks great!
congrats! the first US airline with a modern(ish) livery!
Very interesting video about the life of American Airlines..! Sweet Memories and Tremendous Actuality..!
It's such a beautiful new brand and livery, AA got it right!
That logo is Boss!
yes,it is boss, i have a beautiful Model of American Airlines 777& it's metal,🛫👍👍🙂
the livery is what is to be ecspected. instead of the old AA livery. this new one looks way better.
skylineXpert I disagree
It’s so generic
NEW PLANES... NEW LOGO... NEW IDENTITY... I THINK AA WILL DO GREAT NOW... REALY LIKE THE LOGO, CHANGE IS HARD TO GET USED TO BUT CHANGE IS ALWAYS GOOD... GREAT JOB!!!!!
New colours awesome, always enjoyed my flights from 🇬🇧
I love it its a change and you will have to accept that it looks Like american needed a Update and now looks amazing!

What a great piece. I like this.
I fully support the change it's quite wonderful. They are leading the way to the future.
Looks nice! I'm sure it will look even better in real life.
My favorite livery!

0:43 What a beautiful image with Manhattan’s skyline in the background. I really miss the old livery.

It is a beautiful new paint and look for American Airlines! I LOVE it! Great job and congratulations to the new look for American.
I love the tail and I'm not even American :D the whole livery looks really nice.
Well done! I quite like it on the 777-300ER.
Everything but the tail looks great! I had no idea they were rebranding the livery. It seemed like a surprise. Did anyone know of this?
When flag is painted on a vehicle, the hoist side (that's the blue canton with the stars in US Flag) shall be painted towards the front side of the vehicle, as if the flag was flown from a flagpole in front of the vehicle and wave backwards. It is correct already.
The old American looked like someone came up with it in a day this one has amazing details like the American flag tail!
This is so needed in the revitalization of this airline. The old planes look like giant Three Musketeers candy bars.
Bro fr to me they look like someone put dirt on them and painted it a musty red and blue
I wonder if USAir had any input in the selection of the new logo and livery, since it appears that the merged airline will be using the logo and livery?
Very nice new AA logo and livery, wonderful, I love it so much.
I like the new look. Always room for improvment both in and out of the plane and to personal.
The new eagle looks great and it was a gutsy move to refresh such an iconic symbol. I understand its too late to make changes, although public opinion made AirTransat tweek their new logo, you should have moved the eagle to the tail and drop the "cubana like" tail.

Awesome. American Airlines needs this change.
nice primer.... what colour is it going to be? ;)
This video is so special it almost made me cry I didn't know American Airlines started in 1934
nice new paint scheme, but i wonder if AMR mentality is improved?
Nice! Can't wait to fly with the update!

Good job, great logo, everthing´s all in one !
I love the design, but where did they leave the US airways part?
The livery is strong and sophisticated, well balanced with busy accents married to an overall minimalist design. The new logo is great too!
Sidenote: How does one find a job with AA in branding? I would love for an opportunity to video and photograph those planes.
It me a little while to get use to the new livery. But I it does work well. Although I still miss the more colorful airline liveries of the past.
Nice color. I hope to see NEW Amereican in Japan!
The new tail design is growing on me. Seeing it on their aircraft fleet makes a difference compared to just viewing it on one plane.
I’ve always loved their existing, iconic livery, but I think I like the new one too :-) It looks particularly good on their new 77W....
I’m glad your aren’t bias about old stuff
sure like it!

I think it's a great design
It is VERY bold! It'll definitely stand out from the rest. I LIKE IT!!! :D
Looks really good!
Read my previous comment. AA's branding is in keeping with ongoing changes in the US airline industry.
American Airlines Group is absolutely the best airline company in the entire world!
It's also the largest! It would be amazing to all the US airlines join American!
nope. JetBlue is.
Well JetBlue does not fly to all the destinations that American Airline Group flies, so they can't be the best in the world, but maybe the best in New York!
19BaldEagles58 i live in LA but i meant for domestic flights. Bigger seat pitch and unlimited snacks and drinks. (:
LOL NO.
I thought Swiss was bad but then i flew an american b757 to hawaii
worst flight ever
Someone should hire you to work in AA's marketing department. You have got your act together.
UUUGLY! did you all work for Greyhound prior to this?
Very nice! That 777 look gorgeous! I hope that American can stabilize itself money wise and the service that we were used to returns to the skies.

Johnny: Oh, it's a big pretty white plane with red stripes, curtains in the windows and wheels and it looks like a big Tylenol.
love it cant wait to see the special liverys in that color , KEEP the retro astro jet and keep one in the red white and blue stripe livery
The polished aluminum look's days were numbered. Most new aircraft made nowadays use lots of composites that won't polish up. Going to a paint job will avoid the patchwork look that a composite/aluminum aircraft would have.

Nice to finally see a US carrier operate the beautiful Boeing 777-300ER
I kind of miss the old livery with the red, white and blue stripes on the sides and the double A on the fin, but I can get used to the new livery, it doesn't look too bad at all.
Can't wait to see American's first Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Clean and modern but nice.. Will take a little time but I like
Look at the Gray Hound Bus Logo and then look at American's logo. Same logo but the blue is on the top with American and red on the bottom.
Not too bad. Nonetheless, I wish there could have been included some form of the lightening stripe from the earlier days.
Awesome new livery. AA great job.
i love the old livery more than the new livery...

Fuselage on many newer airplanes aren't aluminum.
They needed a change.
Wich part of "I miss the old repaint" you did not understand ?
2:24 Did they already painted so many aircrafts?
After Years of American Airlines current logo, which was pretty good, it's going to take a while to warm up to this one.
Have you warmed up to it yet?
I’ve gotten used to it
Can you bring a 777 to TRI for a new route or something, I’d really like to see one
The new livery looks fantastic on the 777-300ER, now I'm curious to see how the rest of the fleet will turn out.
All aboard! it is the new Amtrak
I think people are disappointed because American went from having the greatest livery of any airline to something that looks so ordinary.
Whether or not people like the new logo, AA got what it desperately needed. For people to think of it as a totally different company, almosy
Looks great to me.
Love it
I like it!
Great new livery! Very nice airplane! Love the Boeing 777-300/ER livery!
Marvelous
The new logo will be consistent on AA's fleet.
I loved it !!!
