Great video! Having spent years on that side of things, helping design and certify aircraft interiors, I can say that a lot of consideration of detail and hard work goes into the making of a new interiors program. American Airlines does a great job of sharing their #newamerican process.

All this attention paid to "articulating seats" and IFE… but I dare you to be 6'2" or taller and sit in coach, with a 31" seat pitch. I dare you.

And... More expensive tickets! that's right! It costs $145 to fly from Seattle to Salt lake on Alaska Airlines (a 2hr flight) and... $500 for economy on American. And, It costs $400 to fly first class on Alaska. It's cheaper than American...

Good video. I just would like to say as a customer, I think the interior of American Airlines' airliners is hideous. Its so grey, dull, and sterile looking. I would definitely like to see something more elegant and warm.

Not recommended for economy seats people.

    Comments:
    - I am suspicious this is marketing-speak - boy are we cynics these days
    - frankly I expect little service from N American carriers and what little I get poor
    - BTW recently taking CX, QF, SAA even JetStar were wonderful experiences
    - I haven't flown in J class for years but I'd imagine 2 people traveling together are separated
    - when my wife travel together I look for A330/340 flyers where I can (still) get 2 seats together by the window
    - funny you didn't mention that shrinking economy seat
    Sorry folks.

Most people prefer the 1-2-1 seating in business class as many are actually travelling for business. CX, QF, and many foreign carriers offer the same seating. If you cant be separated from your wife for the duration of the flight then the center two seats allow for conversation and interaction. As someone who flies in J frequently, I make it a point to fly on planes that offer 1-2-1 sating whenever possible. I hate having to crawl over other passengers or vice versa.
