Google his story, he was reloading when a Haji came around the corner. He grab the guys machine gun by the barrel and beat him to death with it. Marines are trained to not give up the fight and to fight with anything they can get their hands on.
I remember reading this in the Marine magazine on base. he jumped back in the Humvee and said "I think I just beat that guy to death" well he wasn't wrong. seems like a good guy.
I have had the honor to meet this Man\Marine, it’s a true honor to know him! He is the most humble Marine and is truly the definition of what makes a Great Marine! I am proud to call him Sir and friend! He is welcome by all of our family wherever and whenever!
Mission of the Marine Rifle squad. Locate, close with, and destroy the enemy by fire and maneuver or to repel the enemy’s attack by fire and close combat. He did it and did it well. Congratulations and thank you for your service.
"The Navy Cross is awarded to individuals who while serving in any capacity with the Navy or Marine corp. distinguish themselves by extraordinary heroism to warrant this decloration the act or excecution of duty must be performed in the presence of great danger or at great personal risk" Why don't all Marine and Navy soldiers who have been to war earn this medal? The fact that you can lift a rifle while being shot at and bombed to help your squad live is pretty good heroism to me.
Look chief, I don't play Call of Duty because I work and go to school full time. I did ten years in the Corps, eight years active and 2 in the reserves. I'm proud of my service and my country. My last tour was in Afghanistan with 2nd LAR attached to RCT-7. We just received a PUC for heroism, look it up. Don't try to lecture me on war; I've llived it. Call me a Nazi if you want, you'd be categorizing anyone throughout history thats fought for their country then, which makes your argument invalid.
I was supposed to go see this ceremony... But no, my class had to test out... while the rest of MCCES, and the rest of the base actually, got to go. It would ahve been an extreme honor to go see this.
Any medal is special it doesn't matter what it's background is to earn a medal whether its by injury or by heroism shows that you have the bravery to put your life on the line to help keep the US safe from foreign rule.
I did notice that Sgt. Wooldridge did NOT mention his MCMAP training. One of our buddies finished his second year in the Corps; he told us that he sees MCMAP as compliance based "fall to the ground" BS, not far removed from high-school wrestling.
It's vague because you don't deserve to know what that Marine truly did to the enemy soldier, nor do Marines ever talk about who they kill or how they do it. He did his duty and that's all civilians get to know.
Saw a quote today..."God won't put any more on you than you can bear...God must think I'm bad ass!" That's the background story of every Marine. Semper Fi!
@BushidoDevildog It's not because they're politically correct rather there is no necessity to go into further detail on how the hand-to-hand combat kill was achieved.
Just another example of a true Marine! He's got all of JJ DID TIE BUCKLE! Keep it up Marines! a little message from us Devilpups: OOHRAH Marines, continue the fight with honor, courage and commitment. And to the Marines who died doing what you do, doing what you love... being Marines. (you make me and Chesty proud) SEMPER FI
To engage in a firefight with armed combatatants and selflessly expose oneself to greater risk (i.e. being hunkered down and ordering his fire team to press forward for example), by leading fire suppression efforts, and when ammo was depleted to engage in hand to hand is 'above and beyond'. Recognize.
I know sergeant who was at the time a corporal and a black belt in Brazilian jujitsu. Anyways he and his unit in the Marine raiders support unit were stationed in a cave when three soldiers marched in and didn't notice them at first. My friend was up in their face and got them all to the ground before the other Marines could get their rifles. So the CO if the unit comes in and pops a round in before they got back up.
The Marine Corps is in the department of the Navy. It doesn't fall under the United States Navy it's part of the Department of the Navy. In other words the department of the Navy is responsible for the United States Marine Corps and the United States Navy.
Seriously??? Are you being serious or just a bit facetious? Do you really think that any branch of service can go around monitoring all of its members for the countless numbers of heroic acts performed on the battlefield each day. What the Marine Corps did here was recognize one Marine that was "caught doing the right thing". This type of thing doesn't happen everyday. The fact that the Marine Corps awarded this Marine is a great thing!
The last thing you want to do is fight a badass Marine in hand to hand combat! You will Definitely regret it! They go through intensive training for that!
I can't help but feel that the people come on here, see this video and feel all badass watching a Marine get a medal so they feel the need to talk shit others just to prove how badass they are....RUclips is fucked up man.
Many have never served or know what being in the military is like or deployment. I will say something that brings things into pretty clear focus. I was in the Corps for 12 years. The first unit was 3/7, then other division units The highest medal I ever saw a Marine on active duty wear was the silver star. I also only saw that one time. Marines do not give out medals. A little more these days but nothing like the other services. Lot's of campaign medals and combat action ribbons though. The Navy Cross is extremely rare.
You don't need balls to do something with your life I am 16 and planing on becoming a surgeon so believe me I will be doing more then enough to help the innocent
lol semper fi bro it may have been difficult to deal with guilt and sadness after killing some one at face to face range with ur bare hands but u did it for ur marines and ur country , oorah
You could just tell by the way he talks he is a humble man as well
Google his story, he was reloading when a Haji came around the corner. He grab the guys machine gun by the barrel and beat him to death with it. Marines are trained to not give up the fight and to fight with anything they can get their hands on.
When engaged in hand to hand combat grab a weapon.
That’s legendary
He was probably screaming and begging for his life but he still beat him to death
Yeah tru check out this vid explaining it
Artem Filyk а что ты сделал бы, Артём?
I remember reading this in the Marine magazine on base. he jumped back in the Humvee and said "I think I just beat that guy to death" well he wasn't wrong. seems like a good guy.
I love that quote, he’s a great guy.
I actually got to watch this ceremony while I was going through MOS school. He's a badass, a Marine through and through.
No one is more combat veteran than this man
"I started Beating him" :54 Badass
Mitchell surprises Heather

I am going to save my breath. I've done tours as well which is why I defended this Marines dignity and the choices he's made. Semper Fi!
Thank you for serving our country and never forgotten
Thank-you to those who serve!
Thank you for your service, and sacrifices God Bless you, America and your families 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
The true definition of a hero.
Started beating him, does not accurately describe the worst 20-30 seconds of that 3ed guys life.... also the last 20-30 seconds.
Go Devil Dogs.
Nice to know MCMAP is actually useful!
Why does that sound like something a Lt would buy at a McDonald's
Neonic Khaos underrated joke
Its not as usefull as you think it is

"saw his barrel coming around the corner so i grabbed it up…and started beating him" thats badass.
That's normal..that's Marines.
Well done brother.Semper Fi.
I was supposed to go see this ceremony... But no, my class had to test out... while the rest of MCCES, and the rest of the base actually, got to go. It would ahve been an extreme honor to go see this.

"Clifford Wooldridge" = 5-9-5 total. No quality is deadlier than the 5. None more fearless as well.
Kept cool under pressure.. I love the Marines and all service branches! Stay well.
Nice!! He's a bad ass!
He was being a Marine and and American. A true credit to his Devil Dog heritage. God Bless all our troops.Rah!
The epitome of the consummate professional a true Warrior.
No Marine goes in thinking he will get a medal, only that he will be doing his job. Semper Fi
Fuck yeah thats how you do it!
He actually deserves the Medal of Honor
I did notice that Sgt. Wooldridge did NOT mention his MCMAP training. One of our buddies finished his second year in the Corps; he told us that he sees MCMAP as compliance based "fall to the ground" BS, not far removed from high-school wrestling.

glad he is on my side!
I'm a Marine stationed in 29 palms and this is fucking motivating, YUT
Saw a quote today..."God won't put any more on you than you can bear...God must think I'm bad ass!" That's the background story of every Marine. Semper Fi!
This is why things like hand to hand and bayonet training is important
were you in the chairforce reserve?
Yes, you assume correct. To defeat an insurgent in hand to hand combat, you must take their life with you hands.
Served with Ssgt woolridge in Virginia with security forces. Humble guy.
That is out freaking standing conduct right there sergeant. Get some!
@BushidoDevildog It's not because they're politically correct rather there is no necessity to go into further detail on how the hand-to-hand combat kill was achieved.
Wow, you are a Marine I aspire to be. God Speed Marine.
Whoaw hand to hand combat damn
What belt did your buddy receive? Some of the Marines who achieve higher levels of training in MCMAP find it to be very useful.

Most of our hero solders are humble.
I looked it up and apparently the Marines are a separate branch, but are a component of the Navy. That is why I was confused.
The Marine Corps is in the department of the Navy. It doesn't fall under the United States Navy it's part of the Department of the Navy. In other words the department of the Navy is responsible for the United States Marine Corps and the United States Navy.
Congratulations!
Plain and simple: “started beating him.” Fucking hard charger.

Extreme badassery!
Salute
