I actually thought I was the only girl who would get oily after less than one hour! It's nice to see that other girls have the same struggles as me, now I feel so much better, thank you for sharing this video!
+sinner noooo don't ever use fix plus as a setting spray with an oily skin type! It's just water with minerals & nutrients! If you're watch my video all about Setting sprays I explain it all there!😘
I know this video is old but I need to comment on it because it works!! A little history of my skin, I have oily skin especially on my nose, cheeks, and forehead. My makeup wouldn't last at all even with setting spray. I'm taking medications (Aczone and Retin-A Micro) and it's making my pores produce more oils. Anyway, this is exactly what I did: Setting spray (urban decay all nighter) Primer (benefit the porefessional face) Powder (Laura Mercier Translucent loose powder) Foundation (estee Lauder double wear) Powder (same as mentioned above) Do your normal make up routine Setting spray (same as mentioned above) My makeup stayed on for HOURS. Went to an outdoor wedding and it was perfectly fine. I didn't need to use my Clean & Clear oil absorbing sheets. Thank your so much, Nikkia! You have changed my life!!
I have dry skin and oily skin, I think I get dry skin when I get stressed which is a lot but it’s mainly on odd spots around my face. My nose gets really oily around my nose and cheeks so do you think this will work. My skin looks a mess after only 2 hours xx
I followed the steps and it literally change my makeup routine! It prevent my skin from getting too oily, last longer and minimizes the appearance of large pores! I applied eyeshadow primer on my nose too and it prevents the makeup from creasing in my nostrils! Thank you Nikkia!
Yeeesss!! Me too, It makes a huge difference for me how my makeup is applied the way Nikkia explained in her video 🙌🏻☺️🙏🏻 For me it also helps A LOT using an oil rather than a moisturizer, I love using rose-hip oil and it keeps my oily skin under control. Yes I agree with the comment below, Is there a good eye shadow primer recommended for oily skin?
@@dannacontrerasss I use Teddy’s organic rose hip from Amazon. I find that it is moisturizing enough and balances oiliness. Just two or three drops on the your hands, rub a little then dab on the face
@@DoomMetalMistress1 I use cover girl stay matte when I do use foundation but over time I've gotten to the point where I've just been using this and concealer and it's been amazing I stay matte all day and when I do use it with foundation it's great too only have to blot my t-zone maybe twice the whole day.
Puts make up for an hour, went out to a 32°C for only 10 mins, then people be like, "girl, you need to put powder on your face!" Oil and sweat is face and make-up's worst enemy!
Aimee Allen that's the problem I have as well. And in the winter my face get 'flaky' in certain spots and oily on my T zone, so matte products bring up the flake and dewy products add to the shine.
paige kaufmann if you don't already you should try using an oil at night; I found it helps with the horrible flakiness on my nose and also helps control my oil as when you add oil to the skin it tricks your skin into not producing as much oil (or so I've heard)
Aine Walshxo I have been mixing vitamin E oil with my foundation and found that it makes for longer wear all in all (maybe an hour or so) but I'll keep trying new stuff to see what works. Thanks for the tip!!
Being someone who's face looks incredibly greasy like 2-3 hours in at work this helped so much. I tried it yesterday and my face was flawlessly matte longer than its ever been! Thank you so much for this tip ~
But does it break you out? I find that setting sprays can make me break out. I have always had dry but breakout prone skin but I think perimenopause has hit and at the moment no matter what foundation I use I look like an oil slick after a couple of hours.
How does she only have 209k subscribers? So many cosmetics "gurus" on YT don't speak well and in general just aren't very bright. This girl, however, is very well-spoken and seems rather intelligent, not to mention the fact of her tips being so incredibly helpful. I almost came to the conclusion that it doesn't make any sense, and then reminded myself that the masses prefer unintelligible, half-assedly comedic "GRWM" videos as opposed to the quality of the videos I'm seeing on this channel. Such is life, I suppose.
+Jessica Oliver thank you so much Jessica! I love this comment so much! I really appreciate your feedback. And yes I guess I am a bit different - 6 years at university and lots of life lessons means I put a different spin on things I suppose! Thank you so much for your support it means a lot! 😘😘😘
+Christie Trumb I'm getting the sense that you took my comment incredibly personally. And speaking of comments... comment - noun, "a verbal or written remark expressing an opinion or reaction" Funny thing there! Pretty sure one could totally disregard the fact of whether or not I was insulting anyone (spoiler alert: I was) and *still* come to the conclusion that it was, in fact, a comment. Therefore your reply to my *COMMENT* makes no goddamn sense. In conclusion, do myself and every other netizen a favor and keep your idiocy far, far away from the cosmos of the internet. The last thing this place needs is yet another moron imposing their morality-tinged opinions on everyone else -- it's inundated with people like you as it is.
Must be miserable being so bitter and angry at the world. I truly feel sorry for you. Come face to face with your demons or you'll forever be ruined... Please don't respond.
I am so glad I found your channel! I'm combination to oily skin and there are hardly any good youtubers who share the same skin type. YOU'VE EARNED A FOLLOWER FOR LIFE WOMAN!
I started doing your tricks and I love how my skin looks, it does not get shiny anymore 🙌 by the end of the day my skin looks good. I've even received compliments that my skin looks flawless. ❤❤❤ Love your videos ❤❤❤
Especially cute when a piece of your eyeliner/ mascara breaks off, dissolves into your face oil and, when you look into the mirror, realize you've walked around for God knows how long with a black stripe on your face.
Nikkia Joy I know it's too late to replying you but in my country I couldn't found this powder it's not. Available and please reply iam the huge fan of your plz plz
This routine is the BEST! My skin is so oily, this helps me so so much! Now if you love full coverage then this isn't the best routine for you to get into. But I would rather have some of my acne show through than having my face look wet and my makeup sliding all around! Thank you so much Nikkia!!!!!!
a lot of people with oily skin also have issues with acne, and that's the case with me. If I did this, my face would break out into a mess. when I do anything to keep oil from breaking through it clogs my pores. best bet is to use blotting papers throughout the day.
kristin e Exaclty! I have the same issue as well. I can't even use that Loreal foundation and I'm unsure about trying these tips. That loreal foundation did work great for my oliy skin when I tried it. But I started breaking out even more because it was trapping the oil under my makeup so it was just sitting on my face all day instead of coming out so I could blot it away like I normally do. Oily skin sucks but I feel trapping it on your face just causes more problems than just having to blot and re-powder throughout the day.
yeah a lot of foundation breaks me out...i currently have two favourite, the first one is bareminerals' blemish ready powder foundation for days when i have somewhat decent skin. Since it's a powder foundation, you can just put it back on easily throughout the day after blotting. The other one is armani's power fabric. It is one of the few foundation that dont break me out. with the acne meds, my skins can have a lot of dry patches. this foundation dont have a high coverage, but it gives you a beautiful skin like cover. It doesnt have the lasting power of estee lauder double wear, but at least it doesnt break me out.
kristin e use a face scrub it helps me 1. Hot water 2.face scrub 3.cold water to rinse off 4.make-up This is just what I do try it and tell me how it works
I use an astrigent over my oily Tzone. if u are sensitive to astrigent then don't but if not it really really works. I go in the morning around 8 and return at around 7 in the evening no oil whatsover. also use a makeup removing wipe to clean the face of all oil before the astrigent and not a cream or washable cleanser.i think witch hazel is a natural astrigent.
Alexis Villa No, I use Urban Decay De-slick Spray, Elf pink poerless face primer on my pores, cheeks, and chin, Urban Decay De-slick primer on my forehead and nose. Then I use Coty Airspun in the color Naturally Neutral.
i did the exact routine and let me tell you! THANK YOU FLAWLESS. thank you. i used 3 of the products mentioned and they do wonders.! and it saves me $. love the videos !!!
I thought I would share my story for the benefit (maybe) of others struggling with oily skin and make up getting shiny. I have tried soooo many primers, foundations and setting sprays - nothing worked. Without fail, I would get oily in my t zone within 3 hours. Then Nikkia spoke about the Estee Lauder Double Wear and, having read about it elsewhere as well, I went looking for the right shade. It took three tries but I found my shade. I started experimenting and I have finally happened upon the one process that works for me! I use a gel based moisturizer in the morning, no creams. I do use a little bit eye cream though. NO primer - I find primers make me more oily, no matter what their claims are. After the gel based moisturizer has absorbed, I apply the ELDW with a damp sponge. Wait a few minutes for it to set and then add a light dusting of powder - I have not found that the type or brand of powder makes much difference, I just use what I can grab first. I then finish my makeup but before I apply mascara, I mist over a generous amount of LA Girl Matte Setting Spray and fan it dry. Finish with my mascara and lips and I am good to go for the entire day. I dab my t zone with blotting paper around the 5 hour mark but that is more a habit (after struggling for so long to control the shine) than a neccessity. I really find this the only way my make up stays perfect all day. I am 48 and live in a warm, humid climate, in case that is relevant 😉
I've used double wear for a long time & love it. I use the garnier 5 sec blur primer & add a tiny bit of translucent powder before my double wear & it works for me. my skin is really oily. I'll check thru the day & use blotting papers too if needed.
I will definitely try this and what Nikkia instructed in the video. But you said you use a gel based moisturizer. Is there a specific one that works best?
1. Spray setting spray 2. LIGHTLY apply (matte)primer 3. Using a sponge, apply setting/translucent/finishing powder predominantly on T zone 4. Lightly apply matte foundation 5. Apply concealer under eyes 6. Apply setting powder again with sponge, then lightly dust perimeter with brush 7. Apply make up as usual 8. Spray setting spray when finished I know it was typed up below, but it wasn't detailed enough for me and Im mostly notating this for myself to look back on 😚 Cheers!
As someone who has struggled to find ways to control their oily skin, and especially stuggled to find useful videos for oily skin, your channel is a damn blessing!
I have oily skin, and I use smashbox primer for oily skin, Laura Mercier to set and I spray with urban decay long lasting spray and my makeup stays in place all day with no touch ups. It may even work better with the oil control urban decay spray.
I have had acne since I was 10 years old. Now I'm 20, and my skin is much ok. I have used many soaps, creams and antibiotics, but did not see any improvements. Recently, I just started to implement this ( *AcneCureOnline. Com* ). Getting good results so far. I will continue with it, if it seems good further.?
Same here...I use setting powder before i apply foundation sometimes but i always put Laura Mercier (LOVE this one) powder after my foundation because i have oily skin. It works so well!! And I have the same Loreal foundation which i have been using for 2 years its remarkable. The end result is brilliant. So happy to use that drugstore foundation and the setting spray I HIGHLY recommend is PIXI i have been using this brand for 3 years, I buy bottles every 6-8 months, I am in love with this brand and their products. My makeup stays on the whole day and if I want to use a spray to just hydrate my skin I use Tatcha spray :-D Trust me you will not be disappointed.
Autumn Vivienne drink a lot of water and always do your makeup ahead of time and stay calm. For me that usually works. I even drink water whiles doing my makeup lol try that
Autumn Vivienne Ikr. I can't do two layers of foundation, a thick layer of concealer, so Mac studio fix powder foundation, high light and contour 😑 not that I need all of it but it'd be cool if I could use more foundations and use concealer for once.
karlee weeg I feel you, everytime I use makeup I know It'll be one of my concerns for the rest of the day, cause I have to be checking it constantly, and I do not like to retouch it, I just try to absorb the oil with paper. I've basically come to a point where I just use makeup specifically to cover blemishes I have, that's my only target, not for fun anymore -_-
This works really well! Just a word to say to wait until the 2nd layer of spray is fully dried before applying blush/bronzer as I didn't and miine ended flakey. But no shine which is great!
A general tip: the more powder you use, the more moisturizer you need to use, even with oily skin. And the less powder, the less moisturizer. I got this from Wayne Goss too. And yes, the powder under your foundation is an awesome tip to help cover pores and soak up oil. He's awesome and my favorite makeup guru.
Amy Ann I need to ask. In the video, the steps are setting spray, primer, setting powder, foundation, the rest of you make up then setting spray. Before which step should I use moisturizer?
Sofhia Krizia Calma before all the steps. It should go 1.wash your face 2.mousturies 3. Setting spray 4.powder 5.foundation 6.setting powder (not a lot at all)
As someone with oily skin I decided to trust the process even though I was a bit skeptical of the order of application. I have tried this 2 times now and i can certainly notice a difference from the traditional way of applying. Someone even asked me if i had changed my foundation!! It's great and it doesn't look sweaty after long hours. I love it, thank you
Ive struggled with my oily skin since I was a teenager, but lately I've found that somewhat dewy foundations actually keep me more matte than some mattifying ones? Like Maybelline better skin, it's my fave foundation and i somehow stay pretty matte, like a natural satin finish with it when I apply with a beauty blender and bake my tzone. I think it's important to hydrate oily skin so the water levels are balances and it doesnt overproduce oil to try to make up for a lack of water. Since I've stopped fighting my oily skin, i've found it much more manageable.
Because once the face is actually moisturized (dewy ) and not dry ( matte ) the sebum glands don't feel the need to send more oils into your face, leaving a semi matte look :)
I would love to see a video on your favorite setting powders! I have been using your trick with the damp beauty blender but I haven't found a powder that I love yet. Thanks!
Will you please do an oily skin/large pores foundation routine??? I've got both and the powder under my foundation is the BEST THING I'VE EVER DONE WITH MY MAKEUP!! A thousand thank you's for your channel. You're my favorite makeup Guru!!
My makeup used to look so oily a soon as I left the house, then I discovered Boots mattfying moisturizer, they sell this at target. This has made my makeup last so long I don't even touch up. please try it!
Nikkia, Thank you so much for this. I have re-watched this so many times, and it helps immensely. When I don't follow your tips, I get super oily about two hours after I finish my makeup. Seriously, life changer!
Use a moisturizer and witch hazel! The moisturizer I began using is by Neutrogena and it's for combination skin. It's around $14 or so but so worth it! I also switched primers and started to use NYX's shine killer one and I use this exact setting spray. I also use Kat Von D's foundation which is amazing for oily skin! Hope this helps!
My skin has its own personality...when I start applying make up,my skin is realllly dry (so I cant do the setting powder trick)...but as I'm about to leave the house,my skin starts to get oily as hell😑😑😑 I'm using the Rimmel foundation so I'm gonna give the primer a go 😉 thank you so much for the tips! take care 😘
Have you tried using a damp sponge to apply your makeup? Even with dry skin you should still be able to apply the powder first if you are using a sponge to blend on top (it will look less cakey!) xx
Nikkia Joy Yep! I use the Real Techniques sponge. Trust me,my skin has a mind of its own!!!😁 But I've done the technique on a friend when Wayne first suggested and it worked on her 😉 thank you 😘
I personally don't find the pro-matte to be as matte as everyone says. I also can't find a good color match because the one with my undertone isn't till 104, which is too dark for me, 102 and 103 seem too pink, I haven't tried 101 because that would probably be too pale for me. The 3-1 foundation by cover girl is definitely very good for oily skin, it's the only foundation that I've used that I never have to blot with or even set my face (it dries matte but I still set my face just cuz). I don't use that foundation now because I don't have a good color match ( they are too pink) and while sometimes it would look flawless (like for a month it would be amazing) then the next month it just ends up looking cakey) but it's definitely worth a try.
Gigi Skye For me its the opposite. I get oily with the Covergirl 3 in 1 and stay matte with the L'Oréal one. Plus I found a better color for me in the L'Oréal than in the Covergirl one.
Hi, greetings from Singapore! love ur video! i live in this tropical country and I have oily skin. And also I wear glasses so the foundation sometimes get cakey where the glasses sit on my nose. But I've managed to keep my skin mat almost all day (>10hrs). I use the NYX shine killer primer, Lancome Mat Miracle foundation, innisfree transluscent powder and MUFE setting spray. I also use damped beauty blender to apply transluscent powder onto my T zone. I find this very very useful for oil control. And recently i found by applying less foundation to my T zone helps control oil and prevent cakeiness on my nose (where the galsses sit).
I can't believe I just now found you. I've subscribed to so many channels and the majority of the girls already have perfect skin or they start the video with product already on. I love your videos. I can relate to them and apply them. I struggle with oily skin ever since I was diagnosed with cancer and it's a side effect of my radiation. It's embarrassing in public when I'm so oily. I used to love make up and be really creative with it and I lost that passion due to my make up literally sliding right off. I even tried putting different anti-persperants on my face! But you have helped me to rekindle my passion for make up have helped me regain my confidence. Thank you so much ♡
Skin care is also very important ladies and gents! Cleansing your face with something that doesnt strip the oils off and moisturizing to prevent your skin from overproducing even more oil really really helps! Gel moisturizers are great for this & murad makes an awesome magnifying moisturizing for those who are super oily
I normally do apply primer for eye and then Put some baby powder to Soak some oil and then apply whatever eyeshadow i want to use.Try to bake your eyelid.i know it sounds crazy but it really works in my oily eyelids
But y'all, forreal. This video SAVED me!! I follow these exact steps down to the exact products (minus setting spray) and it's made a world of a difference! While about half way through the day I will still dab my face and lightly reapply the powder, this has been so helpful! Try it out!!
Ok Nikkia, the bacon is done, it worked so well this will be my routine going forward, I did it this morning and it looked beautiful if I must say so myself. I blotted 1 once. Thanks for all the tips you give.
After following the tips from all your videos like this I noticed a night and day difference in how my face looks and holds up all day, you are my hero! Thank you so much for these videos! ❤️
Oh !! Thank You!!! I'm in my early 60's and still have oily skin!!! But the GREAT thing is people think I'm in my early 50's.. Yes, I'll take it!!! Lol.
I have very oily skin still at 59, and although it can be challenging, it is a blessing at this age as I have no wrinkles or sags, and I date much younger men, who think I am younger than my age when I meet them then don't care about the age difference once they get to know me. I am glad for this tutorial because I live in a climate where the summers are hot and humid, and that is the kind of weather that causes the most problems with my oily skin.
Florida is where I live, and since I moved here all I have attracted are men 10-18 years younger than me. Thanks to oily Latina skin I look so much younger! I just wish I could afford some of the good oil absorbing products! BTW I'm 41 & look 30 :)
@@nas10iris Oh Wanda I Love hearing this. I have to move to Florida bc of my health. As soon as my home sells, I'm there!!!! This spool gives me hope of finding a date....I'm in remission from Cancer....I'm starting the keto program bc of the at gain from it. That makes me work harder then. Oh you made my weekend!!!!!
@@nas10iris do you know Ulta is having a huge 21 day sale????? For oily, I like Milani, Cover girl 3 n 1 foundation. Walmart carries them n cheap....yes, I thought by the picture you were 28!!! Trust me ,you will love that oil as you get older. Lol lol
I have same problem apply one more layer of spray on the nose it will set all the make up and powders in and look more transluscent. Another thing they don say in these videos: less is more-it is about having the right technique not applying more product, less make up and powder quantity on nose area will make your skin look more natural and beautiful, more translucent. last through out the day use a normal tissue to absorbe your oils, padding your skin for a few seconds make miracles, no need for extra powders, remember the skin needs to breath, blocking your pores with extra products will only cause more excess oil and breakout
I tried this today and OMG I love it! It really works! I have combination skin and this still works very well. I did wash my face with a wash cloth to get rid of any dry ashy skin around my cheeks and nose and then continued with these steps. I’m in love! Thank you for the video! ❤️❤️❤️
You should do a video like this again where you do half and half of your face, one side being with the techniques you showed and the other half not using these techniques, and then wear it through the day to see how good it works. Just a suggestion💕
Thank you, Thank you Nikkia... I need all the help I can get with my oily skin! It truly is such a huge challenge and sometimes makes me not enjoy my foundation and the application. Have a great day, you're awesome!!!😘💄✨
I have oily skin and no matter what products I use, my makeup wipes off or separates from my skin. This technique has changed my life. Bye bye oily separating makeup. Thank you. Best routine ever!
people who have oily skin are actually lucky because your less likely to get wrinkles! the setting spray works because it's a moisturizer. oily skin has over active sebum glands and what happens is when you put map things on top of dry skin you see them freaks out and says oh my gosh we need to moisturize and sends out too much oil whereas if you put a moisture barrier first then your skin doesn't feel the need to send those oils out I would recommend for people like myself who have overactive oily T-Zone but dry everywhere else to do what you did but only on the T-Zone area and I use the Mac remote primer also for the rest of the face that's dry regular 24-hour parts so you would use the Rimmel matte in the T-Zone area only and especially on the large pores and then on the rest of the face you use their regular long lasting primer which is also the same consistency. I've tried so many primaries and it really is the best! for the combination skin like mine I mix the Pro glow and pro matte foundation
Girl I'm so glad I've found you, I have really oily skin and so far nothing has worked and I'm planing on getting a bunch of new products for Christmas and my birthday etc to try to help and I found you today and looked at what products you suggest and your tips and you are so helpful more than loads of these "beauty gurus" on RUclips so thank you so much! By the way you are gorgeous ❣️
Hello from a fairly new subscriber! I'm glad I found your channel because I really enjoy your videos - they're so knowledgeable and you've got such a nice camera presence. I never had much problems with oily skin until I hit my mid 20s the last couple of years, and as it only seems to get oiler with time I'm trying to learn the best ways to keep my face looking good through the day when I wear makeup. I will definitely be trying out these tips - thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and working hard on videos! Can't wait to see more!
Comicat Creations the same has happened to me! I've had fairly clear skin unless it's my time of the month but since turning 23 my skin has gone crazy! I've got more spots on my face now than I've ever had at 16 x
This is my first time watching you.... I blinked and you went from make-up to no make-up and I low-key didn't see a real difference... Your skin is sooooo smooth and soft looking!!!!! You go girl!!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Holy crap THANK YOU. I just tried this out and my makeup does not even compare with how it did before I tried this method. It hasn't rubbed off or gotten spotty, my skin actually looks normal. This is amazing! Thank you!
This is great if you have oily but clear skin.. How about when you have horrendously oily all over, huge pores, blackheads, redness spots, white heads that can't be removed, discolouration.
247addiction okay stop, I HATE that. You assume everyone that has acne its because of something like that, its not. That's been proven that for alot of people they can't do anything about their acne, except maybe get on meds for acne, and keep it clean and moisturized. But the first thing shouldn't be you telling people to adjust their diet and not eat poorly. " then you have to look at what youre eating " so if you don't have skin like the girl in the video, it must be your fault for eating that way?? . That literally sounds retarded.
Ok, I understand the frustration...look into Dr. Perricone’s books. He is a very famous dermatologist and I was able to clear up my skin by reading his books. The takeaway is fish oil capsules are magic. Acne is a result of inflammation and fish oil helps to reduce it. There is a direct correlation to nutrition and skin. If you reduce sugar, increase protein, take fish oil, and drink lots of water I assure you you will notice a significant improvement. Also a simple cleanse/toner/moisturize routine with simple products with help as well. My routine is Cerave face wash/witch hazel toner/Burt’s bees lotion. Find what works for you!
Nikkia...I literally watched your videos and then went out and immediately bought the skincare products and makeup products you recommended and after day one my skin already feels soooo much better. My skin is soft and hydrated. Thank you so so much!
TheSyngirl If the drugstore products work why would you rather pay more for the same results? This isn't hate or trying to start a row I'm just genuinely curious 🙈 xx
Lowry Fletcher hi I do make up for events and I use a whole mix of drugstore up to high end products so clients have a choice to suit there budgets !💄🙋
Lowry Fletcher I forgot to mention I live in the Middle East and there aren't always as many choices of colours for darker skin tones in the drugstore here either.🤗
You are my # 1 you tuber and can’t thank you enough for all the tips and tricks. I just revived my setting sprays yesterday for the first time. I’m so excited to try them out. I got the sent watermelon. I have noticed already that my face feels locked in but, not like a lot of setting sprays that make you feel really dry. I feel as a lot of setting sprays like milk makeup(the one I was just using) make my face to dry and make it cake and I’m excited to see how this wears!!! Thank you. Xoxo Andrew from flordia!!!!❤️❤️❤️
If you struggle with oily skin remember to start from the bottom and thats the quality of the skin itself! I see that many has commented below that their skin turns oily no matter what! Not saying that the following applies to everyone, because everyone is different :) Just a few tips from a gal with oily skin from time to time: 1. Check the ingredients in your skincare products- it should not contain any inducing ingredients. And especially take notice if youre using a skindrying product and then applying a moisturizing product with "bad" oils and ingredients. Basically youre confusing your skin because it will naturally produce more oil if its dry or youre using "anti-oily" products- good example; tea tree skincare products! The same goes with makeup, especially what foundation you use. 2. Some foods induce oily skin such as olive oil- google, and you will find a list! I noticed an improvement when I cut down on some of these foods! 3. Dont overwork your skin with scrubs, masks, serums and other "wonderproducts" that makes promises they cant keep, haha. Scrubbing should be maximum once a week- at least that works for me! 4. I know this is a dumb one but I truly recommend gals with oily skin to keep the makeup to a minimum, it looks better, low maintenance, aaaand... 5. You can dab a papertissue (regular or the ones you get at a drugstore) on your face to remove the worst oilyness instead of adding even more powder! Cakey anyone? Naaah! 6. Translucent powder from Mac- aaaah, a blessing 7. And if you STILL struggle with that oilyness, I deeply recommend seeing a dermatologist/doctor. There is medication (tretracyclin) that balances the production of sebum in the pores, and therefore reduces both oily and acne prone skin! My advice is WITHOUT A SINGLE DOUBT spending your money there rather than on drugstore, or expensive "wonders"! Good luck - AND most important of all: you are your own worst critic! Dont be to hard on yourself- you are beautiful, oily or not :)
NIKKIA YU REALLY MADE MY DAY BY THIS VIDEO.. I ALWAYS SUFFER FRM EXCESSIVE OIL NEAR MY NOSE AREA.. REALLY HELPFUL VIDEO.. THANKYU FOR SHARING IT WITH USS.. 😍😙😚
I have this problem ALL THE TIME. Literally for years, ugh lol. I have dry skin but as soon as I put on makeup (I exfoliate and moistrize) a little while it's already crazy oily. But if I put powder on it sometimes doesn't make a difference and it clings to dry patches on my skin and looks hella cakey. So it's like I have to choose between having a dry cakey face or and oily face:(( I just want a smooth, even matte finish. But apparently to my skin that's too much to ask for. Any help? Tips? Advice?
I use setting spray and powder, but whenever I use a matte primer or a primer like porefessional it clings to my dry spots! And yes, the primer does! So then when I apply foundation it does too! And yes, I do exfoliate and moistruize:( my skin hates me
I just love you Nikkia! I'm from Oklahoma in the US, I'm also super oily and am a RN in an OR setting. So I take face masks off and on all day and your tips and tricks have helped me tremendously!! Thank you so much and you are such a pleasure to watch!
I'm so happy your techniques worked! Thank you!! I have NYX matte finish spray and used it first. I followed it with NYX pore filler, and then my BB cream and power and my face stayed matte for more than 8 hours. I sprayed the finishing spray again at the end. I have a super oily T-zone, I so glad a came across your video.
Does anyone else’s nose get really oily but at the same time has flakes of skin like it’s really dry?
carolyn torres yep 😭
Yeah
i have that
carolyn torres mhm
Same I thought I was not mee
I actually thought I was the only girl who would get oily after less than one hour! It's nice to see that other girls have the same struggles as me, now I feel so much better, thank you for sharing this video!

Zoë Spil I get oily like half an hour after I put my makeup on!!!It's unbelievable!!I hope this works....
Omg! I thought I was the only one too😹😹thank God I came here
Me too. And I live in a hot n humid all year round country. The very moment I step out of a room with no AC, my face gets oily
1- spray fix
2-primer
3- finishing powder on the oily places
4- foundation
5- powder again
6- spray fix
+sinner noooo don't ever use fix plus as a setting spray with an oily skin type! It's just water with minerals & nutrients! If you're watch my video all about Setting sprays I explain it all there!😘
Nikkia Joy oh, i just did my moms makeup and it seems fine using a fix plus, but thanks anyway!!! 🌹
sinner GOD BLESS
Thank you
sinner z
some people want to look shiny and glowing . but not me. i have oily skin, my skin already shiny and glowing 😂
Yes same here
Sanall
uz vista cleanser. it control oil and makes skin soft
RELATABLE
Yes I just uploaded a video about this :)) we don't need a lot of highlighter - we have it already in our skin :))
i love when people with nearly flawless skin say that a foundation is full coverage. of course its full coverage, you dont have anything to cover!
Shanley Shoupe Brommer tell me about it 🙄🙄🙄
They have blemishes too lmao
Damn, shadeeeee.
Agreed
exactly what i thought....
When I wake up in the morning I can fry eggs on my forehead 😂😔
Which is a natural overnight face mask. It will prevent your skin from aging too early. I just uploaded a video where I talk about this.
ayEee army
I RELATE TO UR COMMENY ``SAME CONDTION``
😂🤣
Mee too 😁 I can fry pappadam
I know this video is old but I need to comment on it because it works!! A little history of my skin, I have oily skin especially on my nose, cheeks, and forehead. My makeup wouldn't last at all even with setting spray. I'm taking medications (Aczone and Retin-A Micro) and it's making my pores produce more oils.
Anyway, this is exactly what I did:
Setting spray (urban decay all nighter)
Primer (benefit the porefessional face)
Powder (Laura Mercier Translucent loose powder)
Foundation (estee Lauder double wear)
Powder (same as mentioned above)
Do your normal make up routine
Setting spray (same as mentioned above)
My makeup stayed on for HOURS. Went to an outdoor wedding and it was perfectly fine. I didn't need to use my Clean & Clear oil absorbing sheets. Thank your so much, Nikkia! You have changed my life!!
really?! I have to try this!
I screen shotted your comment because I want to try it!
I have dry skin and oily skin, I think I get dry skin when I get stressed which is a lot but it’s mainly on odd spots around my face. My nose gets really oily around my nose and cheeks so do you think this will work. My skin looks a mess after only 2 hours xx
@@sweethart_lo did it work?
P G i’m using the retin-a-cream and it makes my skin super oily with makeup or without, i will try this method though :)
I followed the steps and it literally change my makeup routine! It prevent my skin from getting too oily, last longer and minimizes the appearance of large pores! I applied eyeshadow primer on my nose too and it prevents the makeup from creasing in my nostrils! Thank you Nikkia!
Does anyone know which drugstore eye primer’s good for oily nose thanks!
@@Monikita94 which rose hip oil do you use ? :) i always thought using oil on my oily skin would be worse but i’ve heard a lot of good things about it
@@dannacontrerasss I use Teddy’s organic rose hip from Amazon. I find that it is moisturizing enough and balances oiliness. Just two or three drops on the your hands, rub a little then dab on the face
Omg amazing idea!
Hopeing this will work for school because only half way through the day my face is soooo oily and messy
have you tried tea tree oil ???
Did it work????
Lol the story of my life
What kind of foundation do you use?
@@DoomMetalMistress1 I use cover girl stay matte when I do use foundation but over time I've gotten to the point where I've just been using this and concealer and it's been amazing I stay matte all day and when I do use it with foundation it's great too only have to blot my t-zone maybe twice the whole day.
Puts make up for an hour, went out to a 32°C for only 10 mins, then people be like, "girl, you need to put powder on your face!" Oil and sweat is face and make-up's worst enemy!
My problem is if I use matte products I look cakey but non matte products make me shiny😩
Thanks for the tip!!
paige kaufmann No problem, I hope you find something that works 😊
How do you overcome the cakeyness? :(
Steps she used:
1. Setting spray
2. Primer
3. Translucent powder
4. Matte foundation
5. Concealer
6. Translucent powder (used w/ damp beauty blender)
7. Blush, Contour (highlighter)
8. Dust your face (lol)
9. Your makeup (any eye makeup and lipstick)
10. Done
And don’t forgot setting spray again after finishing the makeup.
Being someone who's face looks incredibly greasy like 2-3 hours in at work this helped so much. I tried it yesterday and my face was flawlessly matte longer than its ever been! Thank you so much for this tip ~
YESSSSS GIRL!!! I'm so happy for you! And you are more than welcome :) xx
I just tried the setting spray and powder tip before my foundation and I literally cannot believe how much it helped me! xoxo
Jessica Holder Please mam what brand u used primer? and slay..thanks
But does it break you out? I find that setting sprays can make me break out. I have always had dry but breakout prone skin but I think perimenopause has hit and at the moment no matter what foundation I use I look like an oil slick after a couple of hours.
I feel like I get WAYYYY more oily when I wear makeup. When I go makeup free I only slightly get oily in my t zone
Then you should try applying a translucent powder over your foundation - it works wonders :) I just uploaded a video about this.

Jessica Oliver What an ugly comment. When giving a comment all that is necessary is the comment, you don't have to put others down in the process.
I honestly think there's just so many "gurus" out there..
Just like there are gamers who do "Let's Play videos" etc
+Christie Trumb I'm getting the sense that you took my comment incredibly personally. And speaking of comments...
comment -
noun, "a verbal or written remark expressing an opinion or reaction"
Funny thing there!
Seriously... this worked and NOTHING I have ever tried has worked. Can't even begin to explain how excited I am!!!!!
JustJanet Mitchell this comment gave me hope
Awww yay i Hope it works for me too!
I say every day, "idk why I even put on makeup" because my oil ruins it all! Ughh the struggle is real!
I know the struggle too. Hopefully you find this video helpful 😘
And iam using mac foundation
Sumaira Halepoto you can get it from boots, the do international deliveries.
Oily skin sucks but I feel trapping it on your face just causes more problems than just having to blot and re-powder throughout the day.
kristin e your skin breaks out at first because it has to get used to it
yeah a lot of foundation breaks me out...i currently have two favourite, the first one is bareminerals' blemish ready powder foundation for days when i have somewhat decent skin. It doesnt have the lasting power of estee lauder double wear, but at least it doesnt break me out.
kristin e use a face scrub it helps me
1. Hot water
2.face scrub
3.cold water to rinse off
4.make-up
This is just what I do try it and tell me how it
works
I use an astrigent over my oily Tzone. if u are sensitive to astrigent then don't but if not it really really works. I go in the morning around 8 and return at around 7 in the evening no oil whatsover. also use a makeup removing wipe to clean the face of all oil before the astrigent and not a cream or washable cleanser.i think witch hazel is a natural astrigent.
I'm so happy I came across this video! I tried all the tips you recommended for my makeup and I stayed matte ALL DAY!! THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!
Nia McLemore Did it really work??!
Bella Leelee Yes, you have to try it! I get super super oily and I was at a party and didn't get oily once! I use this step every time I do my makeup.
Nia McLemore with all those same products ? Or different products ?
Alexis Villa No, I use Urban Decay De-slick Spray, Elf pink poerless face primer on my pores, cheeks, and chin, Urban Decay De-slick primer on my forehead and nose. Then I use Coty Airspun in the color Naturally Neutral.
that white powder worked on your dark skin? I'm black and I feel like it will make me look like a ghost
i did the exact routine and let me tell you!
Michelle Rheeder what moisturiser are you using?!
Amber Calica hd
I will definitely try this and what Nikkia instructed in the video. But you said you use a gel based moisturizer. Is there a specific one that works best?
Ashley Ochoa I use the one by Garnier, it is called Hydra Match for combo oily skin. It is a gel cream in a tub but it comes in lotion form as well.
girl I'm not oily, I'm glowing 😂
hahaha YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nikkia Joy I have lots oily skin could you send me pictures of good products
lmao sometimes i have nothing on and people ask me if i used highlighter because my oil really shines that much
Lusine Vardanyan. Really
Nicole Beltran well my oily skin makes my makeup looks on point tho like im using the highlighter😂 nice for a selfie
1. Spray setting spray
2. LIGHTLY apply (matte)primer
3. Using a sponge, apply setting/translucent/finishing powder predominantly on T zone
4. Lightly apply matte foundation
5. Apply concealer under eyes
6. Apply setting powder again with sponge, then lightly dust perimeter with brush
7. Apply make up as usual
8. Spray setting spray when finished
I know it was typed up below, but it wasn't detailed enough for me and Im mostly notating this for myself to look back on 😚 Cheers!
When you have oily and dry skin 😂
Me af 😂
I look like 2 oily french fries
It's called combination skin 😂
Betty Leigh yes
same asf
As someone who has struggled to find ways to control their oily skin, and especially stuggled to find useful videos for oily skin, your channel is a damn blessing!
Im so glad to hear that Bethany! It makes me so happy to be able to help :) xx
I have oily skin, and I use smashbox primer for oily skin, Laura Mercier to set and I spray with urban decay long lasting spray and my makeup stays in place all day with no touch ups. It may even work better with the oil control urban decay spray.
Camaya Lucky love those products!!
Camaya Lucky I
I have had acne since I was 10 years old.
My oily skin makes me not enjoy makeup 😑 id do a lot of things if i knew they'd last and wouldn't look messy after 20 minutes or less
Autumn Vivienne drink a lot of water and always do your makeup ahead of time and stay calm. For me that usually works. I even drink water whiles doing my makeup lol try that
Winnies Dollbox I'll try to drink as much water as possible then 😂
Autumn Vivienne hahaha yes do soo n be relaxed n do ur makeup in time so u dont have to rush to ur location lol
I've basically come to a point where I just use makeup specifically to cover blemishes I have, that's my only target, not for fun anymore -_-
I have horribly oily skin and I'm so so glad I came across your channel. You've helped me so much!
Oh yay it makes me so happy to hear that I have been able to help you!! #oilyskinsisters
This works really well! Just a word to say to wait until the 2nd layer of spray is fully dried before applying blush/bronzer as I didn't and miine ended flakey. But no shine which is great!
Fun drinking game idea:
Take a drink every time she says "t-zone"
Setting spray 4.powder 5.foundation 6.setting powder (not a lot at all)
I too like goss his hacks where he use less product but visible results.
Jasmine M what do you mean bake? After 4 kids and depression I'm finally happy now and wearing makeup more but my oily skin bothers me.
I would love to see a video on your favorite setting powders! I have been using your trick with the damp beauty blender but I haven't found a powder that I love yet. Thanks!
Ive got one coming :) xx
Will you please do an oily skin/large pores foundation routine??? I've got both and the powder under my foundation is the BEST THING I'VE EVER DONE WITH MY MAKEUP!! A thousand thank you's for your channel. You're my favorite makeup Guru!!
My makeup used to look so oily a soon as I left the house, then I discovered Boots mattfying moisturizer, they sell this at target. This has made my makeup last so long I don't even touch up. please try it!
I need to try this!! They don't sell it in AUS but I will try and get my hands on it!!
ashley garcia definitely gonna try this. Thanks!
ashley garcia thx!!!! 😘
I'm so going to try this out.
thanks i will definitely try this..
When my oils start coming through and mixes with my foundation and powder I look like a cakey mess, ugh
Well mine looks like a pancake batter, like as if its gonna drip off my face
Annabelle Vasquez girl sameee
I really want pancakes now haha!
What foundation are you using!
A local brand Nikki Sixx hahaha
Nikkia, Thank you so much for this. I have re-watched this so many times, and it helps immensely. When I don't follow your tips, I get super oily about two hours after I finish my makeup. Seriously, life changer!
I gave this a try today and it actually helped. I had some oiliness later in the day, but nothing nearly as bad as it usually is. Thanks!!!
I have such a hard time getting my face to look matte without looking dry😒 it's so annoying
Kayla Bey same ohmygod I look in the light n i want to cry
Use a moisturizer and witch hazel! The moisturizer I began using is by Neutrogena and it's for combination skin. It's around $14 or so but so worth it! I also switched primers and started to use NYX's shine killer one and I use this exact setting spray. I also use Kat Von D's foundation which is amazing for oily skin! Hope this helps!
Klofromtheblock Thank you so much!!!!!
you're welcome hun! Let me know if it helps! 😊
Klofromtheblock I will!
you saved me duh........ I've tried it today and the result was amazing ..... thanks a lot dear take love❤️❤️❤️💖💖💖
My skin has its own personality...when I start applying make up,my skin is realllly dry (so I cant do the setting powder trick)...but as I'm about to leave the house,my skin starts to get oily as hell😑😑😑
I'm using the Rimmel foundation so I'm gonna give the primer a go 😉
thank you so much for the tips!
take care 😘
Have you tried using a damp sponge to apply your makeup? Even with dry skin you should still be able to apply the powder first if you are using a sponge to blend on top (it will look less cakey!) xx
finally I find someone with the same problem! my face is super dry when I put my make up on & by the time I'm done my makeup is beyond oily.
Nikkia Joy Yep! I use the Real Techniques sponge.
Trust me,my skin has a mind of its own!!!😁
But I've done the technique on a friend when Wayne first suggested and it worked on her 😉
thank you 😘
Ev Z We're special 😁😁😁😑😑😑
I'll come back if I find a miracle for us 😘
yes please! we need a savior !lol
Gigi Skye mix colors
Gigi Skye For me its the opposite. I get oily with the Covergirl 3 in 1 and stay matte with the L'Oréal one. Plus I found a better color for me in the L'Oréal than in the Covergirl one.
Gigi Skye I use an oil absorbing product from Paulas choice under my foundation and it helps sooo much
Love honesty and intelligence. You are one of the very few beauty gurus that have these qualities. Great job. You saved my skin.
How did she get that picture of me on the left for the thumbnail? lol
Hahaha!!!! I loved this comment!! :P
Nikkia Joy
Lin Fu ah thank you for the info! I will try some product you mentioned.
Lin Fu OMG I have the same problem with my nose and glasses arghh
Also, I think I read somewhere to apply some primer where your glasses touch your face in order to prevent slippage. Worth a try?
Lin Fu 4g9vfy vuye8g
NYX Shine Killer is one of the greatest products ever made. Must try. Nothing else works for me
I can't believe I just now found you.
Totally agree!!!
anyone else have oily as f*** eyelids?
Have you watched my tutorial for oily eyelids? 😘
Yes I do & it's annoying
I do!!! It sucks!
I do!! And the best eye shadow primer for oily lids is the Nars eye primer!!
Thank you so much Velma! I'm so glad you found it successful!! This makes me so happy!
When i get a little bit oily on my face.. People compliment me that wow you have very shiny skin 😂😂

I know right. Gorgeous set of eyes.
Thanks for this video! I find that only my nose gets oily. Definitely going to try this trick.
Let me know how you go with it :) xx
Girl! I tried this and my face looks FLAWLESS! Wow, thank you soooo so much 🙏🏽🙏🏽 you’ve been so helpful. Sending love from Peru!! Youre amazing!!
I'm glad to hear Stacey.. Not ready for the dating yet..... Especially where I live now....Trying to get to Florida.... You go girl!!!
Lol lol
Why at the end of the day around my nose it's sooooo cakey 😩 and I get so oily on my nose that it rubs off! Someone please help 🙄
Victoriaa Grant. try eyeshadow base
Victoriaa Grant. Girl I have the same problem idk why it’s always my nose🙄
I use Mac paint pot for that . Anywhere your makeup is moving around put some . Even on your smile lines 🙃 hope this helps
will it get rid of sunglasses marks also :) ?
Thank you for your suggestion. I will consider this for future videos 😘
Nikkia Joy Youu just made my day! Thank you for replying😁💕
Thank you, Thank you Nikkia... I need all the help I can get with my oily skin! It truly is such a huge challenge and sometimes makes me not enjoy my foundation and the application. Have a great day, you're awesome!!!😘💄✨
You are so welcome Debbie!! Please let me know how you go with these tricks :)
Totally agree!! Oily skin is a blessing! I talked about this lots in some other videos :)
The Loreal matte primer works wonders!
The infallible?
+Nikkia Joy yes! Bloody amazing
Thank you so much for your lovely comment!! I can't wait to hear how you go with the tips and welcome to our family :) xx
Alice May then you have to look at what ur eating and drinking. Also ur skincare. Those r more important than makeup.
Rachel Xo well said.
Lol well sucks..
Find what works for you!
idk what i'm doing here when i can't even afford eyeshadow palette/other products😂
I don't even have a proper foundation to begin with 😂 same sister same , idk y iam here
Nikkia...I literally watched your videos and then went out and immediately bought the skincare products and makeup products you recommended and after day one my skin already feels soooo much better. My skin is soft and hydrated. Thank you so so much!
Sometimes I wish they'd shut up and get to the point.
Then skip duh wtf
@@xIG0RAWRx I don't know where to skip. I have to keep on watching
Am saying 🙄🙏🏻😂💯
Oh how I hate that shit🤦🏼♀️
Same
This video was soo helpful. My skin is oiler than a fried chicken kitchen 😂. Thank you for the advice
😂😂😂 I'm so glad I could help you lovely.
Nikkia Joy ciao me interesa comprare io abito en italia e posso sapere il prezzo..
Thankyou so much! I tried this and the way my makeup stayed matte and I couldn't see any oil was unbelievable!
0:21 every time I see myself in the mirror when I just woke up and go to the bathroom to get ready 😂😂😂
Great video thank you . Please would you do a tutorial on med - high end products now on the same subject 💞🙏🏼
Ruby Yees I need the higu end products one, would be super helpful
TheSyngirl If the drugstore products work why would you rather pay more for the same results? This isn't hate or trying to start a row I'm just genuinely curious 🙈 xx
Lowry Fletcher hi I do make up for events and I use a whole mix of drugstore up to high end products so clients have a choice to suit there budgets !💄🙋
Lowry Fletcher I forgot to mention I live in the Middle East and there aren't always as many choices of colours for darker skin tones in the drugstore here either.🤗
Yes I absolutely can!! I will try and get it up over the next few weeks for you xxx
I'm really loving your videos! You have the best personality.
Thank you so much Linda! I'm so glad you are enjoying them :) xx
If you struggle with oily skin remember to start from the bottom and thats the quality of the skin itself! I see that many has commented below that their skin turns oily no matter what! Not saying that the following applies to everyone, because everyone is different :) Just a few tips from a gal with oily skin from time to time:
Naaah!
6. Translucent powder from Mac- aaaah, a blessing
This routine helped me out a lot. My makeup didn't budge or get oily
You should do this half with it and half without and do check ins throughout the day
That's a great idea!
Great,the greatest makeup youtuber😇😇💛💛
+Leah G oh thank you so much😍
I tried this and it works!! Thank you! It is a few extra steps, but well worth it.
NIKKIA YU REALLY MADE MY DAY BY THIS VIDEO.. I ALWAYS SUFFER FRM EXCESSIVE OIL NEAR MY NOSE AREA.. REALLY HELPFUL VIDEO.. THANKYU FOR SHARING IT WITH USS.. 😍😙😚
You are so welcome lovely! x
Hey Nikki... u have to do a review on different types of setting sprays n setting powders for oily skin! pretty plsssssss...
I'm gonna try this method and will update if it works!! Just purchased the products
Nikkia, two and a half years later would you still recommend trying a bit of translucent powder before using foundation?
will you do a video on baking your tzone with loose powder? I swear by it!! I'd love for you to try and review it please
I do occasionally do it! I can definitely do a full video on it :)
+Nikkia Joy yay! i would love that
I followed all these steps and it worked really well! This is a video worth watching.
Any help? Tips? Advice?
Someone please help!
I use setting spray and powder, but whenever I use a matte primer or a primer like porefessional it clings to my dry spots! And yes, the primer does! So then when I apply foundation it does too! And yes, I do exfoliate and moistruize:( my skin hates me
I literally have oily skin with dry patches rip
Hi, have you tried any face oils at night?
dream4ever888
Well since I have acne I usually use spot gel at night and it dries out my skin but I moisturize in the morning
I just love you Nikkia! I'm from Oklahoma in the US, I'm also super oily and am a RN in an OR setting. So I take face masks off and on all day and your tips and tricks have helped me tremendously!! Thank you so much and you are such a pleasure to watch!
Rachael Palmer im from OK also!
Rachael Palmer me too
Rachael Palmer lol I'm from Oklahoma too!
Can we use the setting spray after the primer or always before? Love this video btw, your videos are so helpful! I'm going to subscribe
Thank you! I've been looking for a youtuber that actually has oily skin! Thank you! You're officially my hero!
You are soooo beautiful! You don’t need so much makeup. It hides your beauty and isn’t really flattering. 💗💗
One question do u apply first
Face cream or just go first with the setting spray
I use my usual skin care first. I've got a video coming all about my skincare routine :)
