It fits without the pencil, which is frustrating because there's no where obvious place for the pencil to go. I'm sending mine back for that reason. I'm looking at the Aer Pro Sling possibly which seems as a better size than the City Sling Max which is too big and more for an 11" iPad.

the orange interior is a big upgrade, you can see everything inside easily. in addition, xpac gives you waterproofing.
Check out used xpac VX42 aer slings where it has aged with use. The X pattern becomes quite visible, natural for Xpac but not everyone likes the look.
X-Pac makes some noise.
