    I told my wife it took me longer to get the cap than it did to change the hose. I felt all your pain. I finally pushed down with enough pressure to lock it. Same cap you had. Thanks for the vid!

    Well, you failed to mention to bleed air out of the Hydro boost also. Recently changed out my steering box and found that out as I was bleeding the system so do what you said the pressure off from one end to the other and then step on the brakes so that the Hydro boost can bleed itself also.

    Hey I'm doing my power steering pump for the second time now the first replacement didn't go well and it's been practically without power steering since, can you run me through the bleeding process just so it goes smoothly this go around

    Should have used a ZF style pump like in the new trucks.. oreillys has it, it’s a cardone select brand. Got it on my 06 and you never want to hit a press fit on like that. There is a tool for pressing the pulley back on. The original pumps are junk.

    Better to install a power steering pump from a 2013+ Ram. I used a 2012 high pressure line from pump to hydro boost for factory fit and finish. The remote reservoir that the 2013 pump uses fits beside the wash fluid. The 2013 pump has more flow and higher pressure to properly operate the upgraded 6 bolt steering gear

    What size wrench is used to takeoff the high-pressure hose on the bottom of the power steering pump

    Can you just pull the reservoir and change the bad oring causing the leak?

    • @CaswellCustoms

      I don't know, possibly.

    • @scottcpan68
      @scottcpan68 2 года назад +1

      Yes, if that's were your leak is coming from.

    • @Mantis858585
      @Mantis858585 2 года назад +1

      @@scottcpan68 you have to pull the whole pump. The pully gets in the way and you can't get out the bolts holding the reservoir to the pump.

    • @LovelessRanch
      @LovelessRanch 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@Mantis858585I’d have to disagree with you. I have done mine 3 times. Last time (3rd time I pulled the reservoir off) I replaced the o-ring and rtv siliconed it on. No more leaky leaky.

  • @thommartin309

    un believable. You probably just ruined the new pump, while you had the correct tool to install the pulley the correct way, and used a hammer instead??

  • @rghayden2473
    @rghayden2473 2 года назад +1

    Informative, especially the removal. However, you used the puller in the wrong order. And missed a step. The stud you used in the removal isn't actually used until you are reinstalling the old pulley on the new shaft. Tapping the pulley on is not recommended. I have done many of these over the past 30 years, so I know how easily pumps are damaged by a install done with one or two steps missed. Thankfully nothing was damaged in your case, so all good!

    have replaced the Mopar PS pump about 6-7 times over the last 5 years. A shop replaced steering box twice. I replaced hydro boost throughout process. I just replaced pump with new FZ pump for newer dodges with new pulley. Haven’t went 500 miles an after it warms up. It starts to wine like PS pump is going out. Any suggestions?!….I’m wondering if master cylinder is bad if it could cause this. Dodge, and 2 local shops have not helped in 5 yrs. 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L. Original owner, so not sure what else could be causing PS failure. Thank
    you
