You do realize that Tina Fey was the head writer for SNL for years, and was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, right? Nobody has to write her, or Amy Poehler’s, jokes.

Neither of them have ever been funny without someone else doing the writing. In fact, one of the real reasons Eddie Murphy did is "apology tour" turn as host is that the rumor came out that he laughed (and so did another *_SNL_* alumnus who was female) at the fact she got credit for two of the best sketches either of them were in.. laughed at meaning he didn't believe she wrote either.
