Thank you for putting out this video. It was very helpful. I had some additional issues regarding the USB stick. I have to make sure to format as Non bootable/MBR/FAT32 on a USB no more then 8GB in size (very important). Performed this format with RUFUS. After doing all that, it worked like a charm! Thank you so much, I have tried weeks for this update. And end up was using the wrong port the entire time. I never got the chance to actually look at the back of the port. if you're still having issues... remember to unplug the usb cable which allows you to utilize the usb ports on the monitor and access them from your pc. Having it connected to your pc interferes with the update process. took me too long to figure that out. :D
so should I disconnect the pc all together, mine keeps saying the monitor is more up to date than the update and will not do anything but the monitor update is 1001. and the usb one is 1007.2

Guys if you're struggling with a pixel walk issue or some sort of flickering. Please change your scaling from 100% to 125% in display settings. I don't know why but that helped me with my flickering issue. I've tried all the troubleshooting options from reddit etc even got my display changed by Samsung, but a simple "scale and layout" scaling solved my issue!
WOW the whole time I did not realize there was two USB ports LOL I was trying to update this monitor for the past 2 hours. Switched the USB port and BAM worked! Thanks!!!!
I ran into problems finding the file on the usb-drive. It turns out that at least the neo g9 is finicky when it comes to usb-sticks. I read some people had problems until they tried with another usb-stick, and that worked for me too... So, if despite doing everything by the book it doesn't work, try swapping to another usb-drive. Also, a couple of other points that may not be obvious: the drive needs to be formated in FAT32, and if you are using the usb-hub on the monitor, you need to unplug that as well or it will apparently confuse the file finding software.
I like that, straight to the point. For some reason, when I split my screens the right side is completely black, I changed 3 different cables and nada. So I will try to update the G9 yo see if that's the reason. Great video! Thanks.
I managed to buy mine, the performance of this monitor in games is surreal. I'm bringing 4k gameplay content to it and I can run today's heaviest games at over 120 FPS at the maximum resolution of 5120x1440, all while recording the screen. That's awesome.
Also, if your using a high capacity USB drive it will not work. I tried it with a 16gb and it would not recognize the file. I switched to a 4gb USB and it worked. Good video.

Well I thought this would fix my issues, but no. When I set windows HDR on it sucks, goes dimmer than usual. When I set 240hz in windows it sucks, keeps flicking black and jittering. Most expensive monitor I've ever had and the one I've had the most problems with. Try getting a game to run at 1080p without stretching, it's a nightmare.
Ok found a compromise, I have to turn of adaptive-sync, then I can customize the screen size and set the monitor to 27" equivalent. Seems lame but the results are good. And now I can set windows to 240Hz, but HDR is a windows issue, it's borked.
With the OLED 95 and 93, there's a long thread on samsungs forums "Samsung Odyssey G9 OLED - black screens, connection losses, and more" don't update to the latest firmware just yet if you don't have issues. There seems to be a problem with DisplayPort and Nvidia's DSC.
I didn't have any those really just black screens. And the monitor doesn't ever really turn off. It will go black and keep wanted to turn on hours later. Until you actually turn it off by the button.. my overall experience with this monitor has been a 6/10, graphics look great but the LG 45 super ultrawide is cheaper "still like 1500$" and performs better IMO. if you see this comment and are torn between the 2 go with the LG 45 Inch 👌🏻

Thanks for this. Just picked one up and prewatched but still ran into some smaller issues. Make sure to unplug the USB cable from the Monitor because the USB Stick wouldn't be registered. And also make sure its a smaller USB (max 8gb) bootable since my other bigger ones didn't work at all until a used a 4gb one.

There is no usb port to plug in a flash drive to update the firmware, Two hdmi ports and a dpi port i think. The last time I talk to them they mentioned something about a converter. It's an option, on the website I downloaded firmware on, but depending on whatever version it is now after this video, some people have had some problems, so I've yet to jump on that train yet. Lol

Is this the one that was only available on the Korean website? There was an update that was not available on the other websites that fixed the 240hz flicker issue last year.
Too be honest I'm not exactly sure I haven't had the g9 since this year, but the firmware page I used wasn't the Korean, but it may be the universal site now, I don't have any flickering issues, and haven't since I bought it, so it's possible. I haven't gotten any negative feedback so IT WORKS!!!! 😄

Thanks buddy, I'm kinda confused by your question, there is a built in picture by picture mode on the g9 menu, that lets you configure your screen layouts. And if you just wanted a 27 inch display in the middle of your monitor, all you have to do is drop the aspect from. 32x9 to 16x9 and switch resolution to 1080p, I enjoy the full experience though, so I now use a 32 inch lg ultra gear as a 2nd monitor, for streamlabs and discord. Hope that answers your question
Did I understand you correctly? I thought you had to connect a USB cable from the monitor to the Macbook and the update downloaded directly to the monitor. Now, I believe I have to download the update to a USB stick, unzip it and plug that stick into the upper service port of the screen. Correct? Thank you 🙏

A ps5 at best can run a hdmi 2.1, you may need the 2.1 to get 120 htz, but also a ps5 only can support 16x9 aspect, and will stretch the image on consoles.. but good news is you Have a ps5 and not a Xbox lolol

@@the_user0069 I believe it's the resolution in all honesty, this monitor is basically like having 240 fov in warzone, so of you broadcast in 5140x1440 which is 32:9 twitch or youtube is 16:9 format so it's not matching up, I believe that's where the PbP mode can help with that problem, cause it's gonna make your aspect ratio smaller cause you could have chat or whatever on one side, I'm not exactly sure I'll check it out and make a video to hopefully help other people experiencing the same issue.

Almost Right! You can't have a large Flash Drive - I used a 4gb, but I've read 32gb max. Then Format it with FAT 4096 - then extract file to flash. Had a 128gb that wouldn't work at all, it had to be exFat which just didn't work.
unfortunately it doesn't work either. I've been trying to do this for 2 years now. I've also bought a new usb stick from sundisk and watched all the videos about it and it still doesn't work, too bad but I'll get stuck on version 1005.4 I think
It 100% works brother, in all honesty have you tried. Factory reseting your g9?? And then trying to update to current? Hopefully you don't have a defective monitor? Cause idk how else it wouldn't work. We've basically created a REDDIT forum in my comments Their has to be a solution..and you leaving a comment will leave the option open for someone that had your same problem and solved it, THERE HAS GOT 2 BE A SOLUTION!!! thanks for watching hopefully it gets sorted out!!
I think I read in my comments that people had that issue with a drive that had too much storage, check the threads here, should be able to find an answer 👍
Hmm I'd try hard factory resetting it, then try to update. The only crappy thing is you'll have to re-download all your applications and sign-ins.....I plan on making a full review of this monitor here soon, and to give you a jist, I prefer LG ultragear. Samsung really shit the bed on this monitor with how difficult it is and all the issues with updating it.
Hi, I received this Samsung G9 Neo this week, and as far as I'm aware, all you have to do is use a USB cable from the Service Port on the monitor to your dock, access the screen menu and check for a software update, correct? Here, it shows him using a USB stick first. Is this really necessary? Thanks 🙏
I just figured out that if the hub is plugged into your computer windows grabs it and the monitor cant see it, disconnect the USB cable between your computer and the monitors USB hub and it finds the file

Yay I can finally play Star Citizen and Control. My 2060S RTX couldn't drive the full resolution of the G9 and they were unplayable stretched.
Turns out that mine came with 1016, but I appreciate this for when future updates are released.

I have a question,I play on ps5 and I have 120hz in automatically,but when I see the monitor it says only 60,how is that possible and how can I fix that??
A ps5 at best can run a hdmi 2.1, you may need the 2.1 to get 120 htz, but also a ps5 only can support 16x9 aspect, and will stretch the image on consoles.. but good news is you Have a ps5 and not a Xbox lolol

if i do this will 240hz work? ive got g sync on and hdr on and i can only use 120hz if i try using 240 i get a black screen. will the update help this?

There is no way to share a 32x9 aspect unless an application supports it, Netflix is 16x9 and discord would also be.

@@hugomendonca6862 I manage to get close to streaming the 32x9 in streamlabs when I stream on here like WARZONE it's not 5120x1440 what people see but It's close you can check them out on my channel.

@@HadeZStudios i will try to explain, im having problems with recording, im having lag in the video, it came a window with nvenc error init encoder nv.nvenc initialize encoder, cant record my game, playing warzone using all the monitor not the pbp mode, i read in some other place that obs cant support the entire resolution, but i cant find the right settings, im using rtx 3070 ti thanks for reading, sorry for my bad english
@@the_user0069 I believe it's the resolution in all honesty, this monitor is basically like having 240 fov in warzone, so of you broadcast in 5140x1440 which is 32:9 twitch or youtube is 16:9 format so it's not matching up, I believe that's where the PbP mode can help with that problem, cause it's gonna make your aspect ratio smaller cause you could have chat or whatever on one side, I'm not exactly sure I'll check it out and make a video to hopefully help other people experiencing the same issue.
@@HadeZStudios i have not tried this on twitch or youtube, just recording to edit later, but im feeling that is the resolution as you said, yes i saw the pbp mode but im not feeling comfortable with that, i want the immersive experience, for editing is amazing but im finding a lot of issues for gaming, cant wait for your video it help me a lot this one

Thanks mate, still didn't help with finding the Display Port. So annoying brand new out of the box and the only thing it wont recognise is the display port. But thanks for the update, USB port 2 had me.
Follow up, the update did activate the display port, it meant in just had to reboot the monitor. Works perfectly thanks mate.
I just got my G9 today but it says mine is version 1017 and Samsung site only has up to 1016?
Might have the newest update then this video is a few months old but if you ever need a new update this is how you can do it

Almost Right! You can't have a large Flash Drive - I used a 4gb, but I've read 32gb max. Then Format it with FAT 4096 - then extract file to flash. Had a 128gb that wouldn't work at all, it had to be exFat which just didn't work.
unfortunately it doesn't work either. I've been trying to do this for 2 years now. I've also bought a new usb stick from sundisk and watched all the videos about it and it still doesn't work, too bad but I'll get stuck on version 1005.4 I think
It 100% works brother, in all honesty have you tried. Factory reseting your g9?? And then trying to update to current? Hopefully you don't have a defective monitor? Cause idk how else it wouldn't work. We've basically created a REDDIT forum in my comments

problem, the update starts and when it reaches 16% it stops and tells me "update failed, check your usb device and try again"
I think I read in my comments that people had that issue with a drive that had too much storage, check the threads here, should be able to find an answer 👍

Hmm I'd try hard factory resetting it, then try to update. The only crappy thing is you'll have to re-download all your applications and sign-ins.....I plan on making a full review of this monitor here soon, and to give you a jist, I prefer LG ultragear. Samsung really shit the bed on this monitor with how difficult it is and all the issues with updating it.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If the monitor gives you the error "USB UNDETECTED" just unplug the USB cable from the monitor to your computer and try again.
Hi, I received this Samsung G9 Neo this week, and as far as I'm aware, all you have to do is use a USB cable from the Service Port on the monitor to your dock, access the screen menu and check for a software update, correct? Here, it shows him using a USB stick first. Is this really necessary? Thanks 🙏
Also make sure the USB device it has FAT32 format. I used one which was FAT(default) and was not recognizing anything.
Still not working for me...
I just figured out that if the hub is plugged into your computer windows grabs it and the monitor cant see it, disconnect the USB cable between your computer and the monitors USB hub and it finds the file
