If you put a single nuclear fuel cell into the tank of an explorer or truck, then start to drive, it is 'consumed' to zero, so no more radiation, but it still fuels the vehicle for a very very long time

The devs should really add like lead walls or something so that you can actually make sealed belts and storage sites that dont irradiate all the planet.
Balancing isn't nearly as important in this game as it is in Factorio. It's easier and just as effective to have one main line that feeds into X machines, but keep the machines off when you hook up the line. Then just turn the machines on in order from farthest away from the source to closest. Once one machine is full, turn on the next. Once all machines are on, they'll all be supplied equally.
the funy thing is that according to the resource node map I found online there are 2 normal uranium nodes very close to that caterium node that was southeast of the nuclear plants so literally all the resources needed to make the nuclear fuel rods are in the area where you made your nuclear plant, even if you use all the alternate recipes that are more resource efficient and faster production but then also require sulfur and quartz
I noticed something: You can be as close as 5 feet and you'd still burn through air filter faster than hazmat filters. It looks like you'd have to be almost on top of the fuel cell before you'd start burning through hazmat filters faster than air filters.

I think you should build walls around the nuke plants. when you do slowly instep as you progress so you can make the entire platform look like one Giant Nuclear power plant. (Pyramid shape basically)
You could always just underclock that twenty-seventh one in order to keep it constandly fed with less then a fuel rod every five minutes; just sort of slow it down until it chews through that fuel at the same rate it's being produced.
