I bought Hardwired the week it came out. My little brother was sick we didn't know what was wrong with him. On December 9th 2016, our daddy's 80th birthday, we found out my little brother had pancreatic cancer. I went home to Texas to care for my brother. I brought my Metallica CD with me because out in East Texas the radio stations are few and there's nothin' but tractor ads and lotsa talk about Jesus and many miles of highway. I listened to Hardwired everytime I was in the pickup headed to the hospice. It helped to keep me sane during this time. The live shit is a lot of happy memories for me. Metallica was so great in concert!! My very first Metallica concert in Arlington, Texas. Drove for 5 hours, seem like for erernity, but, it was well worth it!! I was worn out at the end of the show. I will never forget it. I felt part of a huge family. I hope to see them again!! Would love to meet them. Have followed them since 1986 and i will continue following them until the day I die. ROCK ON METALLICA!! I LOVE YOU GUYS!! \m/\m/
When did he lose the ability to scream the way he did ?? Hetfield isn't like Bruce Dickinson , he didn't start of classically trained he basically winged it James started off WITH NO VOCAL TRAINING AT ALL, ok, that was Kill em all, Justice and puppets. mid way though Puppets and officially starting from Black his voice improved dramatically because of his vocal training James 's voice got better over time, not worse and he couldln't scream in the beginning to begin with so how did he lose what he didn't know how to do if anything, James perfected his scream, it didn't get worse if anything, James has publically said that before his vocal training he damaged his voice to a point because he was using incorrect technique then his training got his voice back in shape James didn't lose his scream then changed it to compensate he IMPROVED his scream also understand this (since i sing as well) as you stretch your vocals over time, YOUR VOICE WILL CHANGE AS A RESULT OF THE STRETCHING, this is completely normal James didn't lose anything but, i'm interested to know at what point DO YOU THINK he did
@@martinkuliza most people think metal singers (especially thrash and other "extreme" genres) need to blow their fucking vocal chords to sound good. I sing, thought no professionally and am mainly self trained, one of the things I started to do to protect my voice is not trying to scream on the top of my lungs like an idiot to sound "good" while singing metal because I nearly blew my vocal chords once because of not having proper technique. I also believe James sounds great, yes, he hasn't sound as raspy since Justice but he saved his voice because of that. I remember hearing about cancelled concerts and album delays from a shitton of bands backs in the 2000s because they blew their chords trying to sound "metal" but people are idiots and criticize proper technique for not being trve and metal enough
This music just flows right. Simple but kick-ass riffage, hooky chorus, smooth transitions. James delivering solid vocals. This album mixes well the package. Some thrash songs inspired by the 80`s albuns mixed well with some heavy, groovy songs that recall Metalllica's catalog from the 90's. A well balanced album, in which Metallica cleverly pays tribute to many of their influences (Sabbath, Maiden, Motorhead) and also revisits and adjusts their own style to these days. That is the kind of work that sets Metallica apart from other bands.
Spit out the bone has their classic thrash assault with some Maiden harmonics and Pantera breakdown in the middle. This album has something for every metal fan
The song fits the undertake so well, it literally personifies that he can’t keep doing this forever he knows his legacy (the streak) is already dead but at that same time that he’ll live on forever because he will always be known as the deadman.
Same here man, I liked this album when it came out. But listening to it now, when I'm in a different place in life, this album just hits different for me now. I didn't give Hardwired enough credit back then, it's definitely a great album! 🤘🤘
Lui Shmudog If you talk about popularity and commercial success, you are right. If you talk about how good their music, its no longer true. Don't get me wrong, 80s 'tallica was godlike, but from Load onwards, not so much.
Totally disagree, some of the stuff on Load, Reload and S&M is some of their best stuff ever and different (yes, some crap too). Also Garage INC was awesome. James late 90's voice was epic too.
I made a playlist of every song they have performed live according to their website. I’m listening to them all in abc order and I have made it here. Love this song.
Love that this song is now intrinsically linked with Takers career! Such a perfect song and was one of the best tribute videos ever! So, with all that said, just one more thing.... A huge welcome to the family to any new Metallica fans who discovered the greatest band of all time through the greatest wrestler of all time, it's gonna be a good journey, I promise!!
@@myps4vaultofbanter87 I did lol! Well I knew about Metallica but I haven't heart more then one of there songs! Now I love all of their songs thanks to the Undertaker!
i liked the entire song, its one of my favorites of this album, just like Moth Into Flame and Murder one. about the other songs, i like the riffs and stuff, but its not the type of music that a listen all the time, its so repetitive sometimes, but of course, its just my opinion.
Rodrigo Carrilho I agree - I'm playing this album head to head to many of my faves from lica, megadeth, tool, kings x, corrosion, others and this one is stomping them down hard. Hail Metallica
how can you be a child of the 80s ? i'm 45, You're 54 (I'm a child of the 80s) i gather you were born 1964 Making you a child of the 70s you were a child of Led Zep, I was a Child of ACDC and Kiss and Metallica i imagine you caught kiss from the beginning, i came in around Destroyer and then i got UnMasked, i imagine you remember Hotter than Hell (i don't) in the 80s you would have been around 25, Hardly a child, hehe we would have called you "Sir" hehe
@@mikekennett5509 i'm not being negative, i'm being curious and trying to understand how how someone 10 years older than me approx, is a child of the 80s but,... it's not negativity , IT'S ALL GOOD like you said ROCK ON we will always hold the music close to our hearts and those memories that we share. 100%.
Start at the beginning. By Justice you'll be a devoted fan. By Re-Load you'll be wondering why you've wasted so much of your life and what life would have been like if Dave had stayed in the band. Keep in mind, this is when they lost their hair - and much like Samson, their Power. Around St. Anger, you'll be wondering how far you can see from that clock-tower and how hard it would be to carry heavy things up the stairs - because They. Must. Pay. Watching Monster, you'll realize that Lars really is the whiny little bitch you always thought him to be and was accurately depicted in the "Napster" cartoon parodies. Finally, at Hardwired you'll think that maybe the universe isn't actually hell and perhaps life does have light and hope once more. But James' singing lessons were still a mistake.
Perhaps my sensibilities have softened over the years, but Load and Re-Load (and Garage Days) are probably the albums I find myself listening to most. There are some great songs on Death Magnetic (just poor recording) and some on Hardwired as well (including this one for sure). Metallica has aged amazingly well IMO.
This song is like The Lullaby you sing to yourself during panic attacks, whenever you feel that things are falling apart and you’re losing control, It really works ! Thank you Metallica for always being there for us ♥️
This Is a personal favorite of mine I'm always jamming to in the morning driving. I love the lyrics in this song, I think it has a great message. "When Kingdom Come's may it be we walk right through that open door - all sinners of future, all saints of past." How fucking great is that, ya know?
DUDE, I'M 44. I'VE BEEN A FAN SINCE I WAS 12. SO YEAH, I STILL LOVE METALLICA. EVEN LOAD AND RELOAD. I CAN'T GET MYSELF TO LIKE ST. ANGER. THATS JUST IMPOSSIBLE, THAT ALBUM IS SOOOOO BAD.
This song is fucking badass. Crank it in your vehicle with cd quality audio and holy shit. I don't care what anyone says, this for me is top 5 Metallica song all time.
L Arvind Dude, it's James Hetfield, what did you expect? :D That man's stage presence is one of the best in business, if not the best. Metallica shows could be just James standing on stage, and I'd be entertained. :D

is the kind of record that basically EVERYBODY was waiting for, hoping and expecting. Songs are consistent, and thank you james for having put harmonized chrouses back again, they made a trademark of your voice. Guitars sound granitic, bass is right there, and drums sound like punch to your stomach. I think the band itself is getting suprisingly happy to discover they did a good record, maybe tomorrow will be great, after tomorrow an instant classic.
What I love about this new shit is that it stands up to the original four in terms of quality, but it's an evolution. It offers something a little new and different. This song is a great example - it isn't like *anything* they've done before, but it's still great.
I'm not sure but I think he will have another match I don't think he's had his last I don't know if sting is still in any kind of shape but I heard in a rumor mill that that could be a thing? Either way I'm sure at least in my mind and many others he's going to go down as one of the best wrestlers if not the best just glad we got to see him only way to think about it just think about that Bell giving you chills!
My dad really loves metallica. he passed away 10 yrs ago. But I can still remember how he played all of Metallica's songs all day, all night every day. My dad told me that Some babies needs lullaby to sleep but when I was a baby, I'll cry whenever enter sandman stopped playing. My mom tells me Metallica's songs distracts her and she can't really focus. I don't know cause for me It makes me calm. Anyway, thank you Metallica! When I got older and older, I really understand my dad why he kept playing your songs! Legendary indeed!
Saw them in Chicago last Sunday and I don't care how many more concerts I go to. That one will forever be my favorite. Been listening to them since I was 5 and I remember them kicking ass when I was 5. Hope I can see them again one day
Cody Brand Damned right. Whole reason I remember my niece's birthday is because it was two days later. Couldn't speak, could barely move, hadn't slept, but there I was still wearing my Hardwired shirt and bandana holding the most beautiful baby girl in my hands.
Carlos Guerra as Lars said regarding people saying 'they don't sound like metallica' with their newest albums: if it says metallica on the cover, it's metallica
I remember Radio Head announced they were going to make a video for every song one of their albums...Paranoid Android maybe?...but couldn't practically afford it. But that was at least a decade ago if not longer. Certainly, the affordability has come a long way, as well as the fact that of course Metallica is going to be the first band to release a video for every one of the song on their album. Who else could actually pull off such a Mega feat but the Almighty Metallica!
Le atinaste man pero no se dio por el covid, recientemente revelaron que stefanye mcmahon tenía pensado en darle su entrada con esta canción al undertaker, pero no se pudo por el covid 😔.

+GeekFurious You mean the video tribute to Mayhem set to unfitting music?
The Heartbeat rhythm is so fucking underrated when it's paired with metal.
Absolutely one of my favorite songs if all time. I love Metallica.
Gets in your veins
As the song starts, so does the headbanging!!!
Helll Yeaaah
I like all of Metallica's stuff, but that continuous riff through pretty much the whole song sounds like their old stuff and it's amazing
+aces high I don't agree with you but I agree most of Maiden songs are great and I like them too but Metallica has it's own style as well as Iron Maiden
And we should also believe that they're old now and they can't make a music like they did in 1980's or 90's
+aces high Hahahaha. "just a bunch of distortioned riffs." I think you just described pretty much all metal. I couldn't actually tell, though; the many errors in your comment made it almost impossible to read.
+LoserAmuser You can headbang to anything if you believe in yourself, brother.
I've never listened to this in headphones before right now... HOLY COW this song is HEAVIER than I noticed. Robert is crunching away on that bass really dropping it down. SO awesome
Right now this is my favorite from the new album.

I can't get enough of "Hardwired To Self Destruct"....kicking ass throughout the planet....bad ass band from my native city San Francisco....saw "Ride the Lightning" when I was 15 years old and haven't been able to live without Metallica ever since !!!!😫🤑
Wearing the ride the lightning t shirt right now
Yep. He said LA was lame and if they didn't move to the bay area he would quit.
When Hetfield lost the ability to scream the way he did, he changed his vocal style and it still kicks arse!
When did he lose the ability to scream the way he did ??
Hetfield isn't like Bruce Dickinson , he didn't start of classically trained
he basically winged it
James started off WITH NO VOCAL TRAINING AT ALL, ok, that was Kill em all, Justice and puppets.
mid way though Puppets and officially starting from Black his voice improved dramatically because of his vocal training
James 's voice got better over time, not worse
and he couldln't scream in the beginning to begin with so how did he lose what he didn't know how to do
if anything, James perfected his scream, it didn't get worse
if anything, James has publically said that before his vocal training he damaged his voice to a point because he was using incorrect technique
then his training got his voice back in shape
James didn't lose his scream then changed it to compensate
he IMPROVED his scream
also understand this (since i sing as well)
as you stretch your vocals over time, YOUR VOICE WILL CHANGE AS A RESULT OF THE STRETCHING, this is completely normal
James didn't lose anything
but, i'm interested to know at what point DO YOU THINK he did
@@martinkuliza most people think metal singers (especially thrash and other "extreme" genres) need to blow their fucking vocal chords to sound good.
He never really screamed tbh

@@DovahVokuna true!
You said it brutha!
Spit out the bone has their classic thrash assault with some Maiden harmonics and Pantera breakdown in the middle. This album has something for every metal fan
Thewise one You summed it up perfectly dude \m/
OMG from 5:00 to 5:55 are you fucking kidding me!!? Hendrix meets Metallica/Pantera groove, what a beast of a song! Metallica, thank you!!
This part is soooo sick !!!
Really?? In fact I think it sounds very similar to the instrumental final part of the song Outlaw Torn from the album LOAD...
My least favourite part actually, too much of a jam session vibe to my taste on this. The rest is great
I love that part too !!
Best part of the song, fuckin' cool!
The song fits the undertake so well, it literally personifies that he can’t keep doing this forever he knows his legacy (the streak) is already dead but at that same time that he’ll live on forever because he will always be known as the deadman.
5 years ago I thought it was cool.. in 2022 I finally get it.. this song grooves HARD. I didn’t appreciate this album enough, it’s badass !
Same here man, I liked this album when it came out. But listening to it now, when I'm in a different place in life, this album just hits different for me now. I didn't give Hardwired enough credit back then, it's definitely a great album! 🤘🤘
Totally agree! This song rocks and the album is great \m/
Que música de Groove esse Groove é meu
I said what you are saying now when it came out ! This the best album since And Justice !! Can not wait til April 23 !!!
Same here, this is my favourite in the album, together with Moth into Flame
I have loved both Metallica and The Undertaker for well over 25 years now. He could not have picked a better song.
AGREED 100 percent!
I agree with you ok 💯
I just got this for my 20 year old son. He and I rocked out to the whole album in surround sound.
haha...fucken awesome!
You're a good father!
the greatest metal band of all time there will never be another metallica ever
Lui Shmudog If you talk about popularity and commercial success, you are right.
If you talk about how good their music, its no longer true. Don't get me wrong, 80s 'tallica was godlike, but from Load onwards, not so much.
Lui Shmudog you are correct sir.
Totally disagree, some of the stuff on Load, Reload and S&M is some of their best stuff ever and different (yes, some crap too). Also Garage INC was awesome. James late 90's voice was epic too.
Bálint Kristóf no way!!Death magnetic was a technical masterpiece, thrashy, heavy, and totally rad.
Bálint Kristóf it's very simple tough... if your music quality is bad, you don't become commercially successful. Especially in heavy metal.
I’m having a Metallica marathon from the first to 72 seasons in chronological order

I'm a new Metallica fan! 🙌
Mystickneon I love load, reload, and St anger and all of their other albums
Listen The Memory Remains, it's a great song in my opinion ;)
Welcome to Metallica fans brother.
I proclaim this would be Metallica's best album in 25 years.

is the kind of record that basically EVERYBODY was waiting for, hoping and expecting. Songs are consistent, and thank you james for having put harmonized chrouses back again, they made a trademark of your voice. I think the band itself is getting suprisingly happy to discover they did a good record, maybe tomorrow will be great, after tomorrow an instant classic.
Exactly! THIS album is the metallica we've all wanted for the last 20+ years.
What I love about this new shit is that it stands up to the original four in terms of quality, but it's an evolution. It offers something a little new and different. This song is a great example - it isn't like *anything* they've done before, but it's still great.

They're making a video for every song on the new album?
I remember Radio Head announced they were going to make a video for every song one of their albums...Paranoid Android maybe?...but couldn't practically afford it. But that was at least a decade ago if not longer. Certainly, the affordability has come a long way, as well as the fact that of course Metallica is going to be the first band to release a video for every one of the song on their album. Who else could actually pull off such a Mega feat but the Almighty Metallica!

When darkness falls
May it be
That we should see the light
When reaper calls
May it be
That we walk straight and right
When doubt returns
May it be
That faith shall permeate our scars
When we're seduced
Then may it be
That we not deviate our cause
All sinners, a future
All saints, a past
Beginning, the ending
Return to ash
Now that we're dead, my dear
We can be together
Now that we're dead, my dear
We can live forever
When all is pain
May it be
It's all we've ever known
When flame consumes
May it be
It warms our dying bones
When loss has won
May it be
It's you I'm madly fighting for
When Kingdom comes
May it be
We walk right through that open door
All sinners, a future
All saints, a past
Beginning, the ending
Return to ash
Now that we're dead, my dear
We can be together
Now that we're dead, my dear
We can live forever
All sinners, a future
All saints, a past
Beginning, the ending
Return to ash
Now that we're dead, my dear
We can be together
Now that we're dead, my dear
We can live, we can live forever
Return to ashes, shed this skin
Beyond the black, we rise again
We shall live forever
