Thank you...learned I've been misusing my blending pencils. I love how you cover even the small seeming details which actually can make a big difference. I was traumatized by an art teacher in High School and it's taken me almost 50 years to allow myself to now explore the joy's of art I longed to do way back when. You are a gift🎁💞
WOW!! Grey is a beast for me. You matched that almost perfectly. I'm embarrassed to admit that when I started thinking of coloring with pencils in the same way I would if I were doing a client's hair color it suddenly clicked. I don't know why that took a year to kick in. Lol. Excellent lesson! Thank you.
Hi, Lori…..this is over my head, but it was still fun to watch and know that I will be able to do this once I learn more from the Star Joy Gold videos. Thanks for the fun teaching!
Thank you so much for this video! I'm relatively new to your channel. Each and every video that I've watched so far has taught me something BIG about colouring (which I'm coming back to after a break of forty,-some years). May your path always contain a rainbow (in the full spectrum of visible colour) -(Sorry, I'm also a nerd). I hope one day to be able to pay all your wonderful help and advice forward, and maybe even gain experience enough to feel comfortable sharing a coloured picture one day. Again, Thank you.
Lori, I can not believe I have not been using my blender pencil right. I only use them on the burnish step because I press hard with them. I guess I never realized I could just lightly mix in-between layers with it -captain obvious moment. This hopefully will help me like using oils for portrait work more. I only like using Prisma and Luminance because I have not figured out how to blend my layers smoothly enough with oils for skin tones, it works but it takes FOREVER to get the smooth layered look. I will have to try it with the blender. Always learn something new in your videos. Thanks so much!
Another wonderful lesson. I've been into colored pencils for about 2 years now. I have so much to learn and I am so very grateful to be learning from such a wonderful artist and teacher. I appreciate these lessons so much. Thank you so much for sharing your gift. You are a blessing. 😇🥰
Thanks for all you do Lori, what a teacher you are; in every sense of the word. Sometimes I think I don't need to practice these lessons because I"M AN ADULT" but as humbling as it is, I can't get comfortable with these lessons unless I practice until it's second nature... I could be a little sloooooow. LOL
Subscribe to my beginner channel Star-Joy Gold. I take these lessons and bring them down to where you will be able to understand. As I said, this is an advanced technique. My next beginner video will be this for those who aren't up to this level yet, but want a good start.
This is awfully too advanced for me BUT I actually throughly enjoyed watching this video because it's very useful and filled with infos. And those purple beds...... oh man... I need some.
I just discovered your channel. WOW. You are amazing. I am a beginner coloured pencil user and colouring book user. I have all the THINGS. But I would like to learn the basics. Do you have a series that I can follow from start to finish? A course? Where do you recommend I begin? I want to start at the beginning and just go through all your lessons. Do you teach private/group classes (at a price)? Thank you for what you do.
What an awesome explanation on how to find and match any color you need. This will definitely come in handy for years to come. Thanks again Lori for your Amazing talent 👏 🙌 ❤ anything that we can't figure out how to do you make a video before we even think to ask about it. We truly appreciate all your knowledge on how to fix anything related to art. And so much more.
This was really interesting. Recently, I've been stuck on water soluble pencils. I'm seeing possibilities for this. Is there a way to get a color similar to the paint sample using Star-Joy Gold? Thank you.
Could you please check the link for the color wheel? I just see the grayscale one. I've been looking for one, but couldn't decide. I'd really like to get the one to recommend.
Random question, please. When you were using the prismacolors matching, and you got the color to match with the crimson. Would it have worked still if you just used the crimson first? Or did you need to add those other two colors to get it to work?
Red is the exception to the rule. It neutralizes with blue really nicely. For what ever reason warm grey doesn't have the same effect, but you can. Lately I have been neutralizing colors to tone and using my greys to shadow. 100 roads to get to the same place.

Everyone of your videos are full of gems of knowledge. Anyone at any level can benefit from watching them. Thanks for posting this.
I'm supposed to get my purple squishies today!!!
I enjoyed this lesson, I love mixing colors, LoL 😂😆

The next video I do on the Star-Joy Gold (Beginner) channel will be this but a simple version you may be able to follow easier.
Now to go color match all the things! LOL
Love the video, a great lesson. I love watching both of your channels because there is so much to learn.
Thank you Lori, this was great and I love how you laid out the steps for us.

You are amazing my friend! Thank you!
Cool! I had no idea that this was possible. I really need to get the color wheel.

Brilliant!!!
I absolutely love this video!!! Thank you !!!!
Then you will like one I am working on now. We are going to create iconic colors with budget pencils.

Loved this
Thank you I needed to see this
Love it!
Ty . Enjoyed the video.
I got my 5 Purple things yesterday. So fun.
That was great 😎
What r those purple things? They look so useful
That's soo awsome thank you very much
So funny! I just bought a 6 pack of scrunchies yesterday from tjmaxx because I liked the color palette. I was planning on doing the same thing. 😀
Great tips as usual. Thank you so much, Lori. Hope you and your family are all in good health. ❤🙂

Is there a way to get a color similar to the paint sample using Star-Joy Gold?
Thank you.
Also, Is the value or color more important when you are going for realism ?
That's a fantastic question video on the way.
Thanks for the steps!

I have a question ; if you are using your grays to darken, why wouldn’t you use a warm gray since it’s a warm color?
Red is the exception to the rule. It neutralizes with blue really nicely. For what ever reason warm grey doesn't have the same effect, but you can. Lately I have been neutralizing colors to tone and using my greys to shadow. 100 roads to get to the same place.
Is the color wheel link supposed to be for black and white tones? That’s where the link took me anyway.
There's a link further up in the description. Look under the "STAR-JOY PENCILS" heading.
@@auntiealias957 thanks, I must have missed it 😅
Thank you! I missed it too.
I was wondering what the "smooth" step consists of. I tried to look at your beginners channel and got "404 Not Found".

That's this channel. The link to your Star-Joy Gold Channel Art For Beginners isn't working.
@@auntiealias957 Sorry about that. Try this link ruclips.net/user/StarJoyGoldPencils
@@ColorMyWorld Thank you, Lori. :)
