You are my ONE STOP CHANNEL to learn how to do everything I have wanted to learn to do with colored pencils. I have the coloring books, but dont know how to create dimension to the pages. You have taught me how to do that, THANK YOU😄I am just getting into coloring books as a beginner.
Thank you! As for creating dimension, it's easy once you understand the lighting. If there is anything specific you need you can always email me howtoadultcolor@gmail.com
So good to have you back Lori to encourage all of us to learn to mix our pencils better. I have about a thousand pencils, and most are professional grade sets (no where near your number). I do not see the need to to buy a 500 set of pencils because with the complementary color, plus white, black, warm and cool gray and layering I can get just about anything I really need. Also I am learning as I advance that color is not as important as tone. I am really trying to focus on my tonal values and transitions as I advance, its really helping me improve. I can lay down violet or even blue on my underlayer, but as long as I used good paper I can get to lilac by the top layer if I do it right.
I wondered why I couldn't find lilac or lavender at Michaels or blicks studio, and wouldn't 30 min ago I was sitting on my deck coloring with my last lilac and wouldn't you know it fell between the decking board, normally I would say "oh hell no I'm not going to go under that deck for nothing", well, after seeing this I'm going under my deck
Don't stress over it. Watch the second video where I compared the old to the new colors. They are just about the same. Just a tiny bit different that won't effect the look of your picture.
AS SOON AS this loss was first announced, stores quickly ran out of open stock. I bought another set real cheap and it STILL had lilac and lavender. My guess is they wanted to sell out all old sets before they will have sets with the new colors. Thanks for the tip on creating lavender. I am not worried. The new colors open stock are already sold out. I am sure I can get those 2 colors before the end of this year. BTW, if you have the budget ARRTX set, their lavender and lilac are perfect replicas of Prismas.
Welcome back Lori. I really missed your absence on ColorTube. We will survive without the colors that Prismacolor discontinued. There are so many other colored pencils that have the same colors. Especially Starjoy Golds! One little piece of advice, is there a way you can steady your camera when you are coloring or demonstrating something? Whenever you color or draw, your camera shakes quite a bit and it causes motion sickness.
I just bought a new setup, but got lazy, I liked my old setup, but it aged and doesn't hold the camera steady anymore. I agree with you. The new videos will be much more steady. I am looking at the new go pro cameras too, but they are a bit too pricy. I am going to see how the price goes down comes November.
I wonder if this pigment thing has anything to do with PR206 being discontinued by its manufacturer middle of Last yr. Thought this since you said they are red violet leaning. These things happen in watercolor all the time. There are similar pigments available so maybe they are going that direction? They could probably get close to the colors but possibly not exact, but who knows.
Thank you so much for the shout out Lori ❤ I think I have some lilac and lavender in the Eagle pencils, I'll have to see if they're different colors. I know there was a paint shortage during the pandemic due partially to supply chain issues so was a price increase on a lot of raw materials. I think the blue pigments were one of the main ones affected.
@@CrystalsColorStyle I knew about the PR206 being discontinued. I looked a bit further into it and some color testing. I'll bet that's the reason for the change. Holebein and Winsor & Newton are having the same issues. They both use it too.
@@CrystalsColorStyle I am pretty sure it is. The only difference is the other companies came right out and said it while prismacolor tried to keep it a secret as if nobody could figure out what color dye they used.
I sell pages, Here is my shop. The cupcake will be up on Sunday. It's part of this weeks pictures. If you like candy, you will like this week because I have a few cute things like that. I have a dripping Ice cream cone and a basket of all sorts of sweets. I make them for myself and put them in the shop very cheap. www.etsy.com/shop/HowToAdultColor
Thank you for showing how to make the lilac!! Could you also show us how to recreate the lavender hue? These were two of the pencils I used most, as I love doing floral and crystal coloring pages.♥️♥️
Never heard of money being the route of all evil but that is a way to look at it. Normally people say the pursuit of money is but route is a way faster way of saying it. I like that!
Maybe the new main color mixes well with other colors in the range with the recipe they’ve been using for years but doesn’t with the same amount of white and such. So instead of trying to tweak the formula they had before, they are just replacing the colors. I mix my own eyeshadow from scratch and have similar issues..
HI i hope anyone on here can answer this probably stupid question. But just out of curiosity what did colorists use and colour in before hannah karlson, johanna bashford and a plethora of amazon printed colouring books. How did you acquire the products before you tube and the internet recommends products???
I have had Prismacolors way before coloring books. They were very expensive. I am talking around 300 for 75 pencils. Before coloring books we drew our pictures. I can sketch, but it's not my favorite thing to do.
I love your videos, can you please add captions to this? I don't know if you can but it would help a lot. I have hearing difficulties. Thanks so much for all your wonderful videos! I have learned a great deal.
@pixieydust6571 Something that I learned a few weeks ago is that having or not having captions, doesn’t always have anything to do with the channel creator, but with RUclips themselves. This is an issue that you may want to take to RUclips and explain that you need this on all videos, not just some.
Hi go to the settings for this video and you can pick captions that are Auto generated in English hope that helps. When you pause the video the settings icon is in the very top right if you're on mobile. Not sure about computer or TV usage for RUclips.
@@PixieyDust You are welcome….that could be part of it, but I discovered what I told you by watching a video that had been out for at least 2-3 weeks or more and someone made the same comment to the content creator and that was her response. I honestly don’t know how long it takes to get the closed captions turned on.
I have a shade in mind that I am hoping the new pencils are. It's always hard to tell these things from an ink version and that's all I have. I keep watching the tracking of the new colors and should be here in a day or two. I wish it was Amazon.
I really can’t stand when corporations get cheap, I think it’s not that they can’t get it, but that maybe the pigment became more expensive. I have noticed that prisma is pairing down there entire line. They are also stopping selling singles of pencils and their markers. So that also means that they must be cutting out 50-100 markers out of their line, because a lot of them don’t even come in sets. I think that they went down a rabbit hole expanding to selling all those specialty mixed media sets instead of selling to there loyal base of artists. Disappointing and just not appreciative of their customer base.
That's EXACTLY what I think too. I think Prismacolor is just cheaping out on us, because their bottom dollar is more a priority for them than customer satisfaction. That has always mystified me since most people will stop buying a product if they're not satisfied. It's ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS about the money.
💖This and yep…I didn’t have to sit down and figure it out yet as I still have them….however, most people panicked when this info came out and the reason (in my own personal opinion) is because they just don’t want to play with their pencils to see what colors they can come up with. They just want to reach for the one pencil that will do it for them. If someone has been coloring for a time and has more experience then, I call it being lazy, because it’s not that hard. It is just a matter of time, practice and patience, just like with learning and honing your skills with the techniques, but that is just me.
Well, call me lazy then. 😂 I’m new to coloring, have no color theory knowledge. Coloring is helping me handle an upcoming move to a new state, kids, and a job change. There’s no time or patience left to deal with mixing my own colors. Happily there are near duplicates from other brands that filled the void.
@@karijaneify When one is new to coloring, that is a different story. I don’t expect a new colorist to be able to do this. I was referring to people who have been coloring for a longer time period and have more experience behind them. Some people also have no patience to learn the techniques and that is okay, we don’t all have the same goals in mind with our coloring. Then, you have ones who don’t have the patience to do them, until they realize that they want their images to look more realistic and what it takes to get them there. Some of these will learn the patience to do so, others will just say, “well if that is what is involved, then I guess I am just going to have to be satisfied with the results I am currently getting.” There is also the added factor, that by mixing colors together, you get colors that you don’t necessarily have. The more realistic one wants their image, the more important it is to learn how to do this. A beginner doesn’t need to worry about it though… I will add to my comment above, the fact that I was referring to those with more experience though, so that hopefully others don’t misunderstand where I am coming from.

I noticed this, too! I have Berol Prismas from the early 90s and a newer Prisma set from about 2018. Same differences.
