This question reminds me of that episode of Bob Ross’ Joy of Painting where he did a whole painting in grey in response to a question from a colorblind viewer. I’m still learning how to stretch my values.
What an interesting question. I agree that tone is probably more important than color. It’s one thing to color a flower purple, but if you’re not pushing your tones then it’s just…flat. I tend to shade with my darkest color, and then use greys or browns and very rarely black, in the tiny little corners and crevices. Some of it depends on the medium I’m using as well. There oughta be a where to upvote a teacher/series/tutorial on every platform beyond a segment's comment section. Lori, your every session is informative, educational, practical, simple (I was today years old when I finally got it about tone and value, shadow and shading...and this somehow has crossed over to other areas of understanding, from money to clothes to conditions, conversations, garbage in garbage out). Thank you isn't enough, so x 70 will have to suffice.
@Judy Morgan, Did you realize that RUclips has a feature where you can save videos into folders? That you can name them what ever wanted, so that you can find certain ones again easily? Just hit “save” then an option will come up where you can put it into a “folder”, which you will have to name, if you haven’t done it before or if you want to start a new/different category. I have A LOT of these “folders” and having prime isn’t required .(FYI: Facebook, if you are on there, has a similar option!)
@@FernCurtis thank you... my intent was to find or create a place where Lori and anyone deserving a shoutout could be declared aside from, and instead of cancel culture crap, an antidote to airing dirty laundry in favor of complimentary comments, not Facebook, not you tube or any other algorithmic counters per re, but can also be referenced as public testimonials and accolades.... a new sort of online blessings billboard.
I should have mentioned I have pain in my hands so I'm try to find a style where 'less is more', I love colouring but when it takes too long it becomes a chore rather than a pleasure.

I find myself less and less using my greys, and black for the shading! ! I'm trying to use the colors the way they are ment to be used! Sorry prisma! ! Value is determined against the grey scale. Normally I will use a grey scale value card found on Amazon. Tint, Tone and Shade... To tint you add white, to Tone you add grey and to shade you add black to a color.
Been sick I had to go to er I had chest pain panted puffed I could not breath it was alful I still got pain but they gave me breathing treatments pain meds and covids in my loungs it is so scarey
Prayers to you my good friend. Having had it, I can feel your pain. I coughed for weeks. You will get over it. Takes time. Were you vacinated? That made a huge difference for my whole family.
@@ColorMyWorld yes 3 vaccines I have breathing treatments pain meds .. it's so painful I am hanging in there the caugh won't stop amazing how covvid can hit you in a blink of an eye I could not breath 💔😢 I thank you so much for prayers I really need them I miss you I'm so glad your doing alot of work on here and I'm so happy I started to color all these years Lori I should have been coloring beside you, but I've been coloring I love it I don't care if it's not perfect it helps me get by in life ❤love you Lori you have always been a wonderful friend through all the years boy we had many crazy times. My life is good I'm such a calm person now and learned alot trhough the years . God bless you . Thank you Lori 😊for all that you do.
@@ColorMyWorld Lori how long does this covid last my caugh I've had bad coughing spells for almost a year now this and I'm getting low grade fevers off and on 100^ and I have to go out side to start my genorater and I'm just out if breath it's crazy and my Dr I can't even get in till March I needed to follow up with him after to hospital did tons of work on me I got a pile off the paperwork from hospital I still feel week I use a breathing treatment have pain meds cause the pain on left side by my beast chest area I am thankful for everyday in life because with all the variants and so sadly people dying everyday it's heart wrenching.
@@GiGi-Gigi408 You have the long term covid so I don't know how long it lasts. My symptoms went away after round a month. I heard the cough can last months. The fever concerns me. Have you have any issues with your thyroid again?

As a beginner I struggle to create form in an object or an area, any tips?
You mention tone, but not value, can you point me to where I can find a color value chart for prisma's for example, or a tone chart...
