one tip i learned that helped subconsciously was getting to the gate early and sit facing the outside watching planes take off, just helps to normalize the idea of planes taking off. you should be getting into the idea that thousands of planes are taking off all the time and there are tons of planes in the air at all times. I'm not saying its easy to get over a fear of flying but normalizing air travel in your head is a step forward.

Wore bigger comfortable clothes and took lots of nyquil. The worst part was the first 30 minutes. I also bought a very small battery fan. I previously noticed if I had small breeze it would help relax. Anyways all and all it was ok.
i hated plane take offs.. i felt like i left my stomach on the ground coz of G Forces.. i found this trick accidendaly, i would look out the window and concentrate on an object far away to the horizon like a building, mountain or a tower and never look down as the plane is taking off.. after a while your eyes and stomach feelings go away after the plane was airborne…works for me and i hope it works for you…😅😅😅

I nearly had a panic attack last time I flew. Felt that urge to flee. (But of course there’s no where to flee to.) What helped the next time was to close my eyes for the entire time seated and during takeoff. Something about seeing all the people getting in the plane and all their weird bags and assorted body types and clothing is too much anxiety to see.

I had minor anxiety getting to the airport and checking, got on the plane and as soon as we got seated I was starting to freaking and looking for a way to get off that thing, wife used a fan, took some deep breaths, started working on the thought process and 10 mins into the flight I felt like normal like I’m on the ground. You have to really relax your mind and breathe and chill out. It’s easier said than done but I’m telling you it’s doable. For me the build up and anxiety starts months before the flight. I even ride 25 season of tms therapy before. The combo of everything really helps but ultimately you have to control your thought process immediately.
@@dansouldansoul They gave me valium aka diazepam, the last 2 flights, but it knocks me out to hard, so deep, even in a low dose, they can't really wake me up for about 12 hours. That would be fine if I was on a 12 or 13 hour flight. I have no tolerance to drugs, because I dont ever take any, of any type. So, I try to keep my travel to places I can drive to, as much as possible. I really dont know the options. But, I'm sure you could ask your trusted family physician.
Consider that their are 34,000,000 commercial passenger flights each year. The safety record is better than any other means of travel. There is more risk in driving to a grocery store one time.

Icing, Mountain Turbulence, mild hypoxia, transponder issues, weather issues… it was a great adventure. Green River Gorge between Verbal and Moab UT was a hilight. This trip was actually dangerous. Commercial flights … pfft.

Haha fun to see someone having the same issue as me. What has helped me? Going against the fear and putting myself in that aircraft. It gets easier the more you do it, and once in the air you’ll eventually figure out that all the fears (or many of them) were just thoughts. I still deal with the anxiety, not that I don’t. I just don’t try to mind it, and it helps.

Your brain is all over the place, and you feel detached from reality and find it impossible to focus on anything. Your focus zaps around 100 times a second trying to find something to grasp on to mentally, but you are not in control.
@@deancox8634 I’m not sure how I coped, is relevant for others. We are all wired differently. But for me, getting older has played a big role. I’m 47 now. My anxiety left me around early to mid 30s. It’s a cliché but confronting my fear helped. Trying to turn the situation that triggers the anxiety in to a mundane thing helped. Training my brain and teaching it, “this is not a dangerous situation”. This meant going on flights repeatedly. This was impossible for me to do on a commercial flight with other passengers at first, so I booked a short sightseeing flight at the local airport in a Cessna. In the beginning I needed to have some sort of control, so I could tell the pilot to get us down if needed. But I completed the flight. After that I could go on a short commercial flight. It was hard in the beginning and I did have anxiety attacks, but not as bad. And then I gradually went on longer and longer flights. Taxiing was when my anxiety peaked. But now I enjoy it and I’m excited about the flight. Also having my then girlfriend and now wife with me all along, helped immensely. Sorry for the long post, but there you go 😊
I think for me , if there was some way just to give me a sedative injection that will knock me out for the whole plane ride , I will then survive all the anxiety of flying . Exactly like when they put u out for surgery . Then I would fly all the time. It’s hard to sit in a plane for several hours and just wait , so for that I rather take the knock out meds
my tip, is have a small bottle of red wine on the plane and your anxiety and fear will be lessen. it depends if you enjoy alcohol and whether you can cope with the take off. it IS VERY VERY VERY safe to fly.

Omg I’ve only been on a plane once for a funeral when I was like 5 years old and the travelling I do is camping in my own country by car (Canada) in my province (B.C.) and we don’t go anywhere rly except camping in the summer but once we went to Oregon but that was by car. But this summer is different. We are going to Los Angeles for a few days. And we have to take a PLANE. I’m friggin scared. This week so far has been a NIGHTMARE I have to face two fears: going to the eye doctor, and helping a lady move. PLUS next week before we go I have to help the lady again and then the next day I have to go on the plane to Los Angeles then and ride HORSES- I got over that fear in like 4th grade but idk bro- around the Hollywood sign and do some other stuff that will be fun like going to universal studios, Beverly centre, etc. But then I have to ride the plane AGAIN. I feel like I’m gonna have a heart attack and that’ll be it. And I’m 14 going on 15 in September. Sheesh.

ok so i flew first class for the first time yesterday and yes, it did in fact make my anxiety go away. here's what you do: fly united join the united club, this is where the process begins and make sure you have a first class ticket. once inside the united club if you're flying early, make sure you have at least two bloody mary's (i weigh 170lbs and don't usually drink, that's my sweet spot). those were free btw! then, on first class they don't charge you for drinks...i try to have at least one drink per hour, two if your anxiety is bad. most amazing flight of my life! a hot flight attendant helped and even the gay guy flight attendant was funny as f**k! if you crash you wont feel a thing anyway! happy flying!!!
Dont eat, and bring a ziplock bag with you. I’ve never gotten sick on a plane, but just in case, I bring a bag. What if the person next to me is sick, for example? And a lot of times they don’t have sick bags on the plane anymore.

It’s a controlled substance for sure . My doctor only gave me 6 pills of .25 mg and said to take one of 2 if needed 30 min before take off . I will see how it goes ! Everything will be okay . It’s not much the fear of the airplane crash in but rather it’s my fear of having a panic attack on an airplane but it’s no different than any other panic attacks I’ve had . You got this ! They sometimes crash, yes. Cars also sometimes crash. You know what sets planes and cars apart? In a car you have a 1 in 5000 chance of dying in a crash. In a plane you have a 1 in 11 million. I'm sure you don't have anxiety taking a car ride, so why a plane? Tell that brain on yours to wise up and get smart and stop acting like a baby! This is actually a breathing technique that is scientifically proven and recommend for any anxiety, not just for fear of flying.

here's some fact that are helping me feel better about my flight tomorrow:
1. there's like 10,000 planes in the sky right now. are any of them crashing? no!
2. think of how many celebs fly around all the time and their planes never crash.
3. the pilot just wants to get home and rest so they will to everything just to get back alive.

They sometimes crash, yes. Cars also sometimes crash. You know what sets planes and cars apart? In a car you have a 1 in 5000 chance of dying in a crash. In a plane you have a 1 in 11 million. I'm sure you don't have anxiety taking a car ride, so why a plane?
