    I love it. Clear instruction and love you played part of it first so the advancing beginner can tell right away if they're capable. Always liked this tune.

    I remember watching this when I started playing like a year ago and thought I'd never be able to play something like this. Just came back to it and picked it up in minutes. Thanks!

    I am a new guitar player and I watch many videos from many different teachers to try to learn songs. I can tell you I think that is the best sounding guitar compared to all the other teachers. Actually, all of your audio is excellent. I worked in television for 23 years and I believe that you set the benchmark for the audio quality. Kudos.

    thanks for the tutorial. honestly when I play that song on the guitar I always use just the standard chords the D A & the e with standard fingering without using bars or Pinky's or anything like that. and sometimes I'll put a capo on the second fret and use the G which would be the A chord of course the D chord which would be of course like you should have without the Capo and then of course the C chord which of course would be the D when you Capo it but never have I tried it the way you showed it and I plan to get right to work on doing it the proper way because the way you showed us is exactly how John Mellencamp has actually recorded it. thanks again and like he says in the song Rock on.

    Not the way I play it but it is and excellent version and I think I like it better then mine...I over complicated the chords for teaching. I like the fact that you are straight to the point and jump right into the thick of it...none of that shame less 2 to 3 minutes of explain why ...just hear it is now get to jamming. Great way to teach, good video.
    If you can't learn from this young man, you might think about taking up fishing or paint by the numbers; mho.

    Good video... but you're missing some golden opportunities to teach chord inversions... for example, you refer to the "D on the 4th and 5th fret"... this is an E chord (with the root being on the B string and the 3rd (G#) being on the E string. Newbies will appreciate seeing these relationships between chords

    • @adamwarlock5286

    Pre chorus(?) = Bridge...
    Great lesson. Don't forget the intro if you have an electric:
    Play first position A, E , E raise 3rd, pull off raised 3rd, D....then the single note D, (da da) while playing the E chord , you don't really want to hear the fifth normally fingered , so mute it or don't even finger string 5.
    There are 3 or four cool ways to do this intro , this is
    the easiest way, not quite the coolest but ok considering difficulty levels.

      David Adkins No, you should learn chords so your fingers are used to playing and you don't sound asinine when you say that this isn't well explained due to being a beginner

    • @stephenmcconnell7868
      @stephenmcconnell7868 6 лет назад

      We were beginners, but knew enough not to do this song before you understood what was going on. You can actually play A E D on this song. (Mellencamp could do TONS with just 3 chords). This is a more advanced version.... And more correct compared to the recording.

    Good lesson but I wish you instructors would call the strings by number one through six and not by letter. Because it’s more thinking involved when you have to think about the strings when you called them by letter instead of numbers
